"Sherriff-Goslin Company re -shingled the member’s home in 1998 using a 20-year organic asphalt shingle manufactured by Globe. We did the project in accordance with all local building codes in the exact manner written and described to the member prior to starting the job. We honored our promised Ten Year No-Leak/Free Service Guarantee up to, and beyond, the ten years stated in our contract. Sherriff-Goslin provided the member with service & maintenance whenever it was asked of us. In fact, when a storm caused damage to the front side of his house in July of 2010, we came back out and worked with both the member and his insurance company to re-roof the entire damaged half. I guess that makes the member a repeat customer. After the shingles were replaced to his satisfaction on the front of the home, he mentioned he wasn’t happy with how the shingles installed 12 years prior were starting to show staining & wear (very common with organic shingles installed back in the 1990’s), and he had questions about the manufacturer’s warranty. I explained to him about how the shingle manufacturer, Globe, from whom we purchased his particular shingles, had unexpectedly gone out of business a few years prior. Unfortunately, as any roofing contractor knows, once the manufacturer of a shingle goes out of business, there’s no recourse for the homeowner or the contractor for any warranty claims, valid or invalid. We install roofing; we do not manufacture the materials. I explained to the member the roof still had a few years of life remaining, even if it didn’t look as good as it once did. I let him know we would help him get as much time out of it as he needed, and to contact me when he was ready to do something. I assured him that I would give him a steeply-discounted price to help him out, at which point we could closely match the remainder of the roof to the shingles we installed on the front of the house in 2010. That was the last contact I had with the member until getting seeing this surprisingly negative report on Angie’s List. Sherriff-Goslin Company has been in business for over 100 years. I can tell you that it’s never a good feeling to have negative comments, written or spoken about you by a past customer, especially a repeat customer like the member. We work very hard to keep the lines of communication open, providing office phone numbers, cell phone numbers, email addresses, and a home office staffed with helpful & knowledgeable people that take pride in what they do. This is not a circumstance that represents our commitment to continued quality. I’m not sure why a repeat customer chose to say so many negative things about us; whenever the member called, I came right out to provide service.
