They did not do a good job. They had to come back and redo it. Their normal installer was on vacation at the time of my install so they sent another company to do the install. It was young boys trying to install a sliding glass door and they totally flubbed it. They did not put any insulation in because we could feel cold air coming up from the basement. I called other companies because I knew something was not going right. Finally in October the Lowe's guy who had been there for, like, 30 years doing all their doors came and said it was the worst installation he had ever seen. He said we should be getting a new door from them. They offered to give me money back but I said I just wanted the door done right the first time. It was ridiculous. I used a Lowe's credit card and I don't go there any more. The second whole installation was completely covered and there was no charge. I took photos of the door and sent them to a girl at Lowe's and they later told me she was fired and they let her go. They apologized and said it was the worst screw up they had ever had at that store. I also had called numerous times and talked to the same woman again. I will say this: we had our hardwood floors done by Lowe's and we were very happy with that contractor. That's why we went with them for the doors because the flooring on the entire ground floor turned out so nicely. The door company did not do a good job and Lowe's did not do well.
The salesperson called about a half an hour before the time and said he was in the area and asked if he could stop in a few minutes early. We were fine with that so he showed up early.
He introduced himself, explained a little bit about Lowe's and how the process of them doing the roof would go. We went outside and he looked at the roof from the ground. He said that he had gotten a measurement by satellite earlier. We went back inside and he proceeded to do some calculations and explain what all was included in the quote. He then presented my wife and I with the quote and asked if we would like to have them do the job.
He wasn't a high pressure salesperson, but he did ask for the sale. He did mention that the longer we waited to schedule into the summer the longer the wait could end up being.
We decided to wait to take a look at some other options, but they will definetly be in the running.
One issue with Lowe's is that they hire a subcontractor to do the actual work. This is where things did not go so smoothly The contractor got a very slow start and then appeared somewhat intermittently. In the middle of the job, the roof started leaking at 11:00 PM on a Saturday night where it was not tarped properly. This caused some minor water damage to a bedroom ceiling and some stuff stored in a closet. Overall, the contractor appeared understaffed. The end result looks pretty good from the roofing perspective, although the gutter screens they replaced look uneven and one already blew out. I keep waiting to see how the one year warranty will work out. I also had to nag them to replace the water-logged insulation in the attic but they did a nice job in the end. In the end, everything did get done except for some material pallets that were left behind the garage. I don't know if my first experience (with the window replacement last year) was unusually good, and I don't know if the roofing experience was average or below (although the leaking in the middle of the job does not seem common for sure). I would definitely quiz Lowe's very carefully about their sub-contractor before I would have them do another job for us.
