1) they showed up on time
2) installed working equipment
3) came back in the spring to finish connecting the a/c
The bad things:
1) Not once did they respond after the 1st call; it always took 2, 3, or more messages to get a response
2) Put the air filter in a spot where it's inaccessible. Already-existing vent pipes block access to the air filter, so I have to buy two half-sized filters and squeeze them in.
3) The owner called my husband "schnookums". Totally perplexing ... and completely unprofessional.
Great price and excellent workmanship.
They put down drop-cloth to catch the wood shavings from drilling holes in the joists.
After getting everything connected, they tested the unit, cleaned up their mess and were done.
Today is the coldest day in at least a decade. No one is supposed to be on the roads. I woke up really cold and looked at my thermostat...it said that the temp was 55 and the furnace was on. The temp was supposed to be much higher than 55! I called and Scott suggest a couple of things to check and try so a service call would not be needed. I tried his suggestions, no luck. He informed me that he needed to shovel out his driveway and then would come out. He arrived a couple of hours later.
He checked a couple of things on the furnace and then waded outside in snow that came up to his knees. Turns out that the snow had blocked the intake filter, turning of the furnace. He cleared the snow away and the furnace turned back on.
Thanks to Scott, if the furnace goes off again, I know what to check & do before I call for help. You can be sure that I'll be calling Scott for both heat and cooling in the future (hopefully not too soon!)
They arrived exactly on time. They don't give you a "window" they give you a specific time and the doorbell rang right on time. The service man was friendly, professional and courteous. I asked if he could also check the humidifiers on each unit. "I'd be happy to do that."
From the time the phone was answered by a very knowledgeable and customer focused John in the office, right through the very pleasant serviceman, Corey, it was a great experience. This company understands the value of customer loyalty and they start building that from the first point of contact.
There price was reasonable. Their work was excellent. They did exactly what they said they would do. It has never crossed my mind to use the word "exceptional" when describing an interaction with a heating and A/C company. These people are exceptional. That's what makes this company exceptional.
The third company was Gnoth & Naragon, and a gentleman answered the phone and was very nice & helpful. Most importantly, they were able to come out today. He told me around noon, and the service man showed up exactly on time. He quickly found the problem which was a wire that needed to be replaced. He was courteous & professional and only charged $10 for the wire. The service call was $115 which seemed a little higher than the other companies that I started calling, but it was well worth it because they're honest and don't tack on extra fees or charges for materials etc.
Now I am COOL and happy :)
