If I would have gone to an oil change place down the street it would have been a lot cheaper, but I wanted my car to be fixed right. I got my appointment quick. They were quick. I am getting ready to go there this weekend.

......Much of the visit was routine (ie oil change and multipoint inspection). I specifically asked the advisor to check my battery as it was the original battery that was in the car when bought new from this dealership in 2007 of August. I was concerned because this battery was 6+ years and I was going on a 3 hour drive to a Thanksgiving family get together and I was carrying perishable food for the dinner. The car appointment was on a Wednesday (11/27/2013) and my scheduled trip was on a Saturday (11/30/2013). Bryan, the service advisor, pointed to the multipoint inspection checkoff sheet and said that and quot;your battery is fineand quot;.
That was my main concern. I was anticipating a lengthily trip and was concerned about my battery because of its age.
I drove the car after the dealership service visit and on the next day(Thursday) with no problems. After packing my car on Friday night and Saturday morning in preparation for the big trip (understand that this was a big trip to see family and grandchildren and provide food for an annual get together) on Saturday morning when I was prepared to start driving.........THE CAR WOULD NOT START.
I called Toyota of Merrillville and asked for there assistance ........... I explained that I had had my car serviced on Wednesday and was assured that my and quot;battery was fineand quot;. They told me that a tow would be 99$. That was their solution. Also, I had better get there because their technicians leave at 5:30PM. I remembered my AAA (auto club) membership and called them. The AAA technician confirmed that my battery was not only dead but would not reliably hold a charge. THEY replaced my battery. It was a two hour delay..........no thanks to Toyota of Merrillville. Dinner had to start late for Thanksgiving..
. I am updating this review. I met with Service Rep Bryan who apologized and said that their instruments did test that the battery was OK. He performed some minor services at no cost to be in order to repay me for my inconveniences. Thank you Bryan. I appreciate your gesture and will continue to have servicing done at Toyota of Merrillville.

After five times of taking car in for same problem, they finally admitted that it was installed wrong, took it back to the installers, and had it installed properly. They did not believe me until they could get it to repeat the problem, that basically blocked me from using the newly installed device. Customer is wrong until he or she can prove themselves right. An exceptionally poor customer experience.
