Had some scheduling conflicts on the contractor's end. Originally scheduled for a Friday didn't come out until the following Wednesday. would have preferred a phone call or text about the reschedule instead of the Angies list messaging system. Inspection was quick and minor repairs went well. Eric had good advise to offer and was very professional and nice. I would use him when ready to replace entire roof!

The start of the job was delayed a few times due to weather, but Eric kept us informed about the schedule. When they were able to start the work, they finished in one day as promised, working way past dark. Eric brought a big enough crew to finish the job, and they all seemed very professional. They cleaned up everything, and we are very happy with the new roof.

Everything went very well. Eric was easy to work with, and stayed on the jobsite during the entire project. This is a huge deal to me, as we have had experience with company owners showing up to give the estimate, then you never hear from them again. He addressed any concerns or questions that I had, and the final product looks great. I highly recommend using their service.

I am looking at getting the roof of my house replaced. I called Eric to give me an estimate. It was pretty hot when he came to look at the roof. He looked around pretty thoroughly and spent a lot of time explaining issues/options. His estimate looks very reasonable. We gave it a long consideration. Ultimately we decided to give our roof another year or two. But I am likely to have him do the job for me when the time comes, as it shortly will.

I called Eric of a morning about a leak I my roof and he agreed to stop over later on the same day. Actually he came earlier than expected because he was concerned about impending rain. He climbed on the roof and caulked the apparent nail hole. He suggested I wait and be sure that the repaired hole was the problem, and gave me an estimate of $175 if the vent had to be replaced. That estimate is less than half of the estimate I got for the same replacement from another respected source. I will definitely use Maximus for future roof work.

The crew from Maximus painted the three interior levels of our home and the exterior siding and trim. I liked that there was a large crew so the work went quickly, they were done within a week. The house was vacant so it made it a bit easier for them but to do a great job in a 4,000 s.f. house in the timeframe they took was amazing. We discussed at the beginning that the flooring contractor would be coming in after they were finished and that there would be touch up required. They came back and fixed all the items I had on my list and they made it clear their intent was for me to be satisfied. I have worked with a number of painters over the years and they gave me an excellent price. I highly recommend them.

There were a lot of people that came out over a period of three days. They didn't do what they should have done like putting a metal strip around the chimney. I asked them them to come back and they didn't. We had some leaking and had to get the ceiling repaired. He wasn't very responsive - he was hard to get a hold of. Clean up was okay. I would not recommend them to a friend or family member.

I had a long list of very diverse items that needed to be done before I could rent the home. Dave was great. He was able to repair doors, touch up paint, hang a light fixture, repair drywall, repair a chimney crown, power wash the deck and caulk the bathroom vanity. It is very difficult to find a good handyman who has to knowledge and experience to do a lot of different things. Most contractors don't want to be bothered with smaller jobs. I had used Maximus to do a roofing job and some drywall repair so I thought it was worth a call to Eric to see if he had someone on his crew that could do all this miscellaneous stuff and thankfully, he did. Dave was easy to work with and attentive to detail. While the price might look high for handyman work, in all fairness to Maximus, it was a list of twenty items that I needed done and Dave was there off and on for a week so I feel that I got a fair price for everything I had done. I gave Maximus a B on punctuality on this one since they were supposed to start on a Thursday but didn't actually make it until Saturday and they had not let me know they were delayed. Eric did apologize and he has always been prompt before so I feel this was not the norm for him and I will not hesitate to use him again.

I would like to give a very high recommendation for Maximus. I called on the advice of a neighbor and was able to meet with Eric, the owner, right away. I had already met with 3 other companies and was on the verge of going with someone else. From the beginning I felt like Eric was being very open and honest with me. He answered all of my questions about shingles and different manufactures and helped me understand my insurance claim. A few upgrades were added at a very fair price rather than what the other companies were charging. His warranty also exceeded everyone else and because of that, I felt confident he was going to make sure it was done right. My roof was completed in a very timely manner and best of all he was present. He was not a salesman that you never see again. Thank you for doing such a wonderful job. My new roof looks great!!

Eric was great to work with! He came out and gave me an estimate the day after I called. The quick response was crucial for me since I am trying to sell the house and the roof issues popped up during the inspection. He was willing to work with me and I feel gave me a great price on the job. I couldn't believe his crew got the entire roofing job done in one day. It looks great and best of all, they cleaned up afterward. You can tell Eric knows what he is doing and he obviously takes pride in the work his company does. I wholeheartedly recommend him if you need roofing work done. He was also able to repair some drywall in the garage at the same time the roof was being done. His drywall finisher is excellent and did a super job. It is often difficult to make a repair look as good as the original work but he was able to do that. It is especially difficult to repair a textured ceiling and to blend it in with the existing ceiling but it looks better than I expected it would. Great job! Update (June 2014) - We sold the home and during the home inspection, the inspector said that was the best roofing job he had seen! We were pleased with the work ourselves but it is always nice when a professional confirms what you thought.

foundation repair, remodeling

Start day July 2012 began WITHOUT a dumpster on-site to start demolition.......3 males here & started, so they just threw debris out the window with no regard to shrubs/plants which were damaged. They did recover with TLC. After a couple of days, only one of the people came to work . This person was a 60+ arthritic male who began the foundation work. Eric Hunsucker sent Platinum Painting Group, McCordsville to install drywall/ceilings in 2 bedrooms & hall closet The east end of house had to be completely gutted including floors due to crawl space not having a sump pump resulting in water damage & from the roof during the 2006 hail storm. 2 males who installed the drywall were framers (as was stated by owner, Mike Sipes), who came to make repairs after I informed Eric Hunsucker the workmanship was not acceptable! However, Mike Sipes stated he was requested to get this job done in a hurry & they were who he had available. They admitted to not having the materials they preferred to use & the seam tape was visible on completion and I had to request they clean up after themselves of dust, globs of drywall mud & trash. A kindergarten class could have done a better job & wouldn't have asked for a beer for the ride home! Eric Hunsucker did not come onsite (website claims he's always on-site) to witness the complaints. Dave Lansing, carpenter of 16 yrs who I came to realize was a one man show began to gut the bathrooms. One 60+ arthritic person to perform a HOME RENOVATION!!!! Although Dave "talked the talk" & did seem to have some knowledge of his craft, he had no pride in his work & many of his projects exhibited problems or failed altogether within 2-4 weeks. Even as simple as hanging a medicine cabinet, didn't even last a week before coming loose from the wall! By the way, I need to mention that the house was completely occupied throughout this helter/skelter FIASCO!!! TOTAL lack of regard for us in any capacity. Eric Hunsucker, on the rare occasion he would be onsite, would walk into the house & not even acknowledge my 87 yr. old mother sitting on the couch .The living room & one bedroom were our living quarters for the 8 months, yes EIGHT MONTHS of this NIGHTMARE! Dave Lansing remodeled the full bath which was a 6 week ordeal just for the shower install. We had to go to my cousins to shower. On completion the shower floor was not constructed properly, the drain sat at an upward incline & the water could not completely drain. Once again, Eric Hunsucker could not bother to come on-site to observe the problem. He stated the problem was the 1" tiles I chose for the shower floor. (Didn't believed that line of crap!) Dave stated he used the wrong type of grout (something he hadn't used before) and it did not set up properly. Eric tried to claim we used the shower too soon, but how do you know anything when you do not supervise the job & know what type of work your employee is performing? I finally requested Eric Hunsucker to come to the job site as there were too many issues that needed attention & now the ceilings in both bedrooms were cracking. It took 2 weeks for Hunsucker to show! Mike Sipes & his sidekick Brandon came to fix the ceilings and were highly upset to have been blamed for the problem when discovering the problem was with the poor, crumbling construction of the half a** job Dave Lansing had performed on the foundation. By this time it is now November and I have had to hire a structural engineer to check the house. Okay, PAY ATTENTION here people....NO PERMIT by the Super Service Award Angie's List member!! So, very good lesson to learn......Code Enforcement checks the work when a permit is pulled to make sure the job is properly executed, IT IS FOR YOUR PROTECTION! Not just a way for the county to make money off of contractor's as these guys will tell you when they do not pull permits. I found out the hard way! The structural engineer was so appalled by the work and the materials paid for and NOT used & was the one who explained the reason & importance of permits. Not pulling permits CHEATS the county and YOU! & allows these crooks to skimp on supplies/materials!!!. And not properly performing the repairs in order of standard procedures has resulted in several recurring problems. The structural repair should have been completed BEFORE proceding to replacing ceilings, walls, floors, or any of the remodeling projects! 10 months later I'm once again hiring a contractor to make the necessary repairs to the foundation. But believe me I've learned alot about the hiring process & ensuring the CAPABILITIES & INTEGRITY of the people I will hire in the future. Check your references & the license/bond/ins of Angie's List (or ANY contractor/handyman) as they state these contractors have the proper credentials @ signing, but you, the consumer, are responsible to make sure they are still valid when you hire!! DO NOT hesitate to ask for PROOF! And check with your county's list of licensed contractor's to ensure they pull permits and make sure they post on the premises where the work is being performed. Do your homework to prevent any contractor/handyman the "scamability" to rip you off. No permits for Hunsucker since 2007 when researched! Dave Lansing tried to tell me, when questioned, why (when discovered) the foundation work was started in July and it is now Oct/Nov & there are no concrete footers or permanent foundation support that he was waiting for the house to settle!!!! Really? Common sense/logic will laugh all over that remark as well as Eric Hunsucker's " I supervise this job by phone everyday!" Really, again, REALLY??? A home renovation you supervise by phone? Also explains the alleged story about how his roofing crew during this time started removing the roof from the wrong house before he, the supervisor, showed up. And just quite possibly might explain why there was no knowledge of the problems/delays your employee was not telling you. Hunsucker stated he had seen Dave do some awesome work, but he tends to tire after a few days & he guessed he should have been talking to me. Gets tired after a few days & you employed him to do a 1 man show home renovation??? At this point I did consult the Indiana Law Association. The attorneys I consulted with told me I had to give Maximus General the opportunity to fix the problems, but no more exchange of money until the job was completed & to satisfaction. While trying to get the rest of the house finished and the foundation/crawl space completed Dave Lansing hurt his back & could not complete. CE Enterprises was brought in to finish. Once again, Eric Hunsucker DID NOT come on-site to supervise/observe the work & CE Enterprises had NOT been previously employed by Hunsucker. When they got to the shower to redo the floor & drain.....HUGE problems discovered with the plumbing repairs still leaking, the flooring of the shower was about to collapse, walls leaking posing a huge hazard as dangerously close to electrical wires! The shower was ripped out from ceiling to floor & reconstructed! This time using the proper materials to protect & waterproof! Another 6 weeks to have to go to my cousins house for us to shower! CE Enterprises did, I believe, the best they could with the jerry-rigged mess they were handed. When they stated they were finished (Feb 2013) and left, there was no word from Eric Hunsucker for nine days. I'm quite sure you have determined before now that the renovation would Not be completed by Maximus General!. The rest of the house will have to be completed by someone else! Had I not, in good faith, (& learn from this) paid most of the bill, I would not have allowed as much work done. I was literally sick to my stomach dealing with Eric Hunsucker of Maximus General Contracting and his band of ridiculous cohorts & their crap excuses/reasons. When Hunsucker finally called it was not for a final inspection/walk-thru. He simply asked to collect money!!!! Yeah, did not happen!! He was told not to trespass on my property! So, he asked CE Enterprises to "scare" me into paying as he would not finish paying them unless I paid him. Unfortunately I just didn't "scare" and CE Enterprises hired by Eric Hunsucker, to my knowledge have not been fully paid. And as witnessed all the time by media reports, you CANNOT rely on our judicial system to be honorable & "JUSTICE" Yes, I know there are many good reviews for this "Super Service" contractor.....BUT, be afraid, be very afraid of what lies beneath your shingles! Platnium Painting Group did not complete their repairs and Brandon proved his "scumability"! And there was never any clean-up in 8 months by Maximus General. We constantly cleaned up dust, buckets of grout, trays of drywall mud, picked up tools, moved supplies to walk in rooms. CE Enterprises cleaned up & hauled all the trash outside for us!!! Well folks, there are eight months of countless specific details about this horror story I do not have the space here to relate. However I believe you can understand and I do hope learn from this that even with a reference & an Angie's List membership YOU must do your "homework" checking the HONESTY & INTEGRITY of the license/bond/ins claims of these contractors. Again, ASK for PROOF!! Check with your county about permits(the building dept & code enforcement) to ensure your protection against these con artists. The contractors that are now coming in to give estimates to repair Maximus Generals' work have stated "it's CRIMINAL what he's done!" and "the top 5 WORST HACK JOBS I've seen in 22 years!!" So here I go....several thousand $ to fix! Eric Hunsucker with his q**** smirk, eye-rolling conversations telling me I'm crazy to expect quality is the most ill-mannered, dis-honest, despicable person ever! Remember (as I'm told) Holmes on Homes #1 rule.....NEVER pay up-front!! Good Luck to Everyone!
Description of Work: Home renovation including structural/foundation repair. *The fair price rating is only had the construction been acceptable! Eric Hunsucker stated when questioned about his work order that he had copied another contractors' estimate!

Response from Maximus General Contracting LLC
It's unfortunate that by paying the small fee to become an Angie's List member that someone is allowed to post a review that is contains so many lies which are obviously attempting to tarnish my credibility. This customer was not a member but joined solely for the purpose to post this terrible review. For those of you that have taken the time to read the above novel please also take the time look at the other, close to 100, glowing reviews that have been posted by customers of Maximus General Contracting! Know this, the engineer who inspected this property DID pass the work that was completed. I spent over $7,000 of my own money trying to satisfy this customer. Any other contractor would have walked away from this job early on but I stayed and tried to make this crazy lady satisfied The customer never paid for the contractually agreed upon amount in full and her check for the last draw which I received was returned for non sufficient funds. Even after she said she was satisfied and the engineer passed the work completed she failed to pay the final balance. We had 16 different employees working on this project at various times and to a man every single one of them stated that this was the most difficult customer they had EVER worked for. I hope that any Angie's List members who are reading this can, after going through all our other reviews, determine who is telling the truth and who has an agenda to destroy some ones business!!

The hailstorm hit in May 2013 big time. Large hail wrecked the roof and many other parts of the exterior of the house. Eric had many clients at this time but always found time to get out to our home in as quickly as possible. My insurance company was lethargic and unresponsive, but Eric kept with it. Over many months, he patiently worked through the issues and continued to return calls until the entire claim was paid out. He worked closely with Ben McWhorter at Exterior Home Improvement, Inc. to coordinate putting in new windows in the back of the house (almost $4000 worth of work right there). Mr. McWhorter and Exterior Home Improvement are excellent as well, and are highly regarded on Angie's List. There were many options when it came to all the repairs on the exterior of the house. Eric got the new roof on right away and he brought in a very fine team of professionals to get the roof on in one day. We did have a little water coming in around the chimney of a wood burning stove, but Eric came out and worked on it; the situation appears to be fixed. He had excellent advice for me as a homeowner on how to balance out my rather high deductible with the necessary repairs. The siding that was installed on the house looks great. Eric oversaw the repair of the deck as well and now it looks much better than before. Finally, after the new windows were installed, there was almost nowhere to hang the curtain rods. I went out and bought new rods that would fit in the tight space and Eric came with his associate, Guy, and finished installing the rods on 20 December. If you are in need of any home repairs, I highly recommend Maximus General Contracting. I went to them originally because of their high rating on Angie's List. They will be on the Super Service Award list again for 2013, which is many years in a row. Eric Hunsucker is an honest and intelligent professional who really wants the job to be done right. He has high ethical standards and I always knew he was striving to achieve the highest results possible. He is patient and non-judgmental. And has a good sense of humor, too, which comes in handy when the stress levels get high. It's rare to find an excellent company these days. Maximus General Contracting is one, and I urge all members to consider them for your next home repair project.
Description of Work: Maximus General Contracting did a great deal of repair due to a hailstorm in May. Eric Hunsucker, the owner, oversaw the replacement of siding, windows, and the roof. Maximus also replaced deck boards and painted the deck. He advised me on all aspects and options of the job and coordinated his efforts with an endless number of associates and insurance representatives. On this last topic, Eric was particularly effective. Since he has an extensive background in the business of insurance, he can talk the language of insurance adjusters and all others in the business. He knows how to get the wheels of the industry moving and always does so in an ethical manner. In a world or ripoffs, Eric Hunsucker is completely reliable and trustworthy.

Eric is a wonderful general contractor - and I feel that I can call him with any project we have around our home. We previously hired Eric for two jobs and they turned out so well I asked him if they could come repair a damaged exterior wrap on our 2nd story window. His siding crew was already booked on an out of town job, so he sent his carpenter Dave to work on our project. Dave was prompt and coureous. He completed the job the same day and it looks wonderful. I will definitely call Maximus on future projects.

I had some haiI damage caused by a storm that came through last fall. I filed a claim with State Farm, but since it was so late in the year, I decided to wait for better weather to have the work done. I called Maximus General at the end of August and Eric Hunsucker came out and we discussed the claim and the work he would provide. He upgraded me to architectural shingles and threw in some attic vents that were not in the claim. The roofers were a well oiled machine. They replaced the roof on my garage in one evening and they started on the house the next day. When they tore the shingles off, they found there was a gap between the boards on the roof. Eric called me and told me that he could not guarantee the work without new decking. He worked directly with State Farm to get the decking replaced. I also had him do some extra work that was not in the claim. I had some rotted wood around the gutters which I had them replace, There was a storm door on the back of the house I needed replaced. Also the claim covered some painting on some of the window trim. I decided I would like the entire trim on the house and garage painted as well. He had his painting estimator came out and quoted $2600 for the painting work. The painting looked really good, but I had to have them come back a couple times for missed spots, but Eric made sure the work was done right and that I was happy with the work. The gutters were a better quality than what I had and was also done in a day. Overall I am quite happy with the way the work was done and how much better my house looks now.

It's very disappointing to put a lot of research into deciding on a roofing service and then have them totally ignore you. I contacted Eric twice, a week apart, and waited two weeks after the last call to write this review. I went back and re-read all of his reviews and it seems that for some unknowable reason, a percentage of his potential clients can't seem to get his attention. VERY disappointing, Eric. Get a secretary.

The job went very well. The price was very reasonable, and my lowest estimate. Additional expenses popped up, but they were to be expected with the amount of woodwork repair. The wood repair was excellent and thorough, taking care of animal nibbling and rotted pieces. The paint crew moved through pretty quick and touch-ups were necessary, but Eric listened to my concerns and came back several times until the job was satisfactory. Erica and Gretchen helped me pick paint colors, and suggested a satin finish which looks incredible. The gutters were placed quickly, but also needed some corrections which Eric discovered and addressed quickly. The roof took two days and that crew was fantastic. I made them stop early at night because of my kids sleeping and that was not an issue. I was given many different samples, from several lines of shingles, to help the decision for type and style. It was very pleasant working with Maximus Contracting and Eric was responsive and punctual. Gretchen was helpful and pleasant. They made efforts to keep our backyard free of nails and debris so the kids could play. A job well done!

We asked Eric to give us an estimate to paint our two story home. He came out to assess what was needed and then we got together to receive the estimate and sign a contract. Eric is a wonderful General Contractor and he has amazing crews that can handle just about anything in your home. His painting crew did a phenominal job. They had a large crew show up as scheduled and they completed the entire job in one day. The house and all of the trim was painted the appropriate colors and all lines are crisp and clean. They even protected all surfaces with plastic and tape during the entire job. The job site was left clean and we couldn't be happier. We will definitely call Maximus General Contracting for future jobs around our home.

Eric came out to prepare an estimate and discuss the roofing job with us. He provided wonderful advice and discussed the repairs needed on our house. We were very impressed with his knowledge and hired him based upon his reputation on Angies List and also on our first impressions. The crew did an excellent job. The roof is beautiful and the carpenter did a wonderful job removing the metal porch awning and building a sturdy wooden awning in it's place. In addition they carried the roof shingles onto the porch awning for a complete and balanced look. Their professionalism and work ethic are evident with the final results. We were so happy with Eric as our General Contractor, we asked him if he had a painting crew for another job.
Description of Work: Replaced roof, gutters, fixed wood rot on trim and fascia boards, in addition they rebuilt a porch awning.
