I purchased a home in Escrow, to have my property taxes and insurance included in my mortgage payment. After making payments for about a year, I discovered that my payment went up about $100.00. I called to find out why it went up because it wasn't for my taxes or insurance. There was a mix up/cover up with where these fees were coming from and where the money I was paying was going. They tried to tell me that it was just my property tax and insurance, I had to go through my paperwork to prove to them that it wasn't. I finally talked to someone in Atlanta, GA, and her superior ordered her not to talk to me. Eventually, I got a hold of someone who was able to straighten it out, after I threatened them that I was going to talk to an attorney. I would encourage anyone who has a mortgage in Escrow, to check your payments to make sure you are paying the appropriate amount.
