I did my research on Angie?s list and contacted McElley
Transport. After being impressed with the response time and getting a quote, I
contracted them to move my wife?s 1971 Datsun 240Z from Oregon to Texas. It
took a week to get on a trucking schedule but soon I had a pickup date. I have
relocated to Texas and was not present for the loading of the car. Before I
left town I tuned the car up, put in a new battery and drove it extensively to
make sure it was running and driving. I left the car with a dependable friend in
Oregon who has always taken great care with my vehicles in the past.
McElley subcontracted a carrier out of California, Your Precious Cargo, to transport the
car from Oregon to Texas. Upon arrival in Texas the first thing apparent is
that the exhaust system was held up by a rope and completely disconnected from
the engine. The car would not start so it was manually rolled off the transport
and put into my airplane hangar. I was not present for the unloading due to a
business trip however my employee was present for the unloading. No disclosure
was made by the driver or McElley of the damage that obviously occurred during
the transport, no record was made and the receipt was marked ?as is? and given
to my man. The car would not run because something, (the trailer cross
structure I suspect), hit an exhaust clamp under the car, tore the exhaust
system loose from the header, bent the exhaust flange on the header so that it
has opened the exhaust port on the engine head and it is direct firing into the
engine bay.
Now, many weeks later as I try to get to the bottom of this,
no one is taking responsibility, no one is offering substantive help or
compensation and everyone is pointing fingers at everyone else. I am very
disappointed with the service, now have a damaged vehicle and have to spend a
large amount of money to get it fixed. I have contact Jim and Dena at McElly
Transport and Kevin Kahn of ?Your Precious Cargo?, none are proactive in
getting this resolved.

Wow! After very poor and deceptive service from two other brokers, I was thinking all transport companies were the same. Dena was absolutely a welcome change from the others. She followed through and delivered as promised. I was out of the country during the delivery and it still went smoothly. I am very impressed as I was able to trust Dena at her word. You can trust your car to be handled with care and delivered as promised. Thank you!

Mcelley transport personnel were helpful and professional from start to finish. Dena worked with us so that the pick-up fit into my father's complicated schedule. She also organized the delivery into a convenient window for us. The car was here more than a week ahead of their proposed timeline, and we were driving our convertible much earlier than we dreamed. Thank you Dean and crew!

Communication was slow from very beginning, Mcelley transport had a hard time committing to a pick up and delivery date. Finally picked up on a Wednesday and delivered on Saturday. Upon arrival in Brooklyn there was severe damage to hood and side panel. ($2000.00 worth) contacted Mcelley right away and he asked for photos, upon reviewing he said he knew exactly how it happened and asked us to get an estimate done. Mcelley was given an estimate in a matter of days. we were told he had put in an insurance claim. We have never been reimbursed! This has been 3 months with a bunch of big talk with no follow through, apparently the damage isn't quite enough to justify his deductible but he doesn't want to have to pay out of pocket! The matter has now been turned over to our lawyer to handle. A complaint was filed with the better business bureau. DO NOT use this company, poor communication, poor business ethics,

After making the mistake of asking for quotes from a few internet sites, I was deluged with calls and emails from a wide variety of companies. Since I could not discern the good from the bad, I turned to Angie's list for a recommendation and ultimately selected McElley based on good reviews. I found that McElley actually cost more than most of the quotes I got from random sources, but after talking with them I had the confidence they would do the job reliably, which was my primary interest. Communication through the process was prompt, and I found both the owner and the office to be very responsive. The truck arrived on time, and actually delivered the car two days earlier than we expected. This caused a little bit of confusion for us on the receiving end, but we got through it easily. In the end the car was picked up on time, delivered quickly, and the staff was very responsive when we had questions or concerns.

The service was great. We were dealing with Dina McElley, she's the owner's wife. She's always responsive to e-mails and she had responded quickly. They picked it up when they said they were gonna pick it up and delivered it literally the day after we got to Houston, that was 4 days later. Overall, we were very happy.

I initially chose McElley transport due to excellent reviews on Angie's List and Ebay. Jim was initially very responsive and promised to deliver the car. To make a long story short, it took 9 weeks to arrive and more than 10 emails. Jim indicated his mother was ill and that hindered the response time. However, he did not delegate another employee to monitor the transport. I finally got someone at the company to handle the booking. The quote was originally incorrect as well, which also delayed the transport. I understand that family illness can impact your life, however the business should still be able to operate normally. I requested a refund of my deposit which has not been answered. I would not recommend using this service.

It has been quite awhile ago, so I don't recall all the details. We phoned and arranged to have the car moved. They showed up as expected and managed the loading very competently. Car was delivered to Philadelphia in good order and within the predicted time frame.

We chose McElley transport for their Angie's List rating and received great customer service on the front end. However, the actual transport of our car did not go smoothly. We felt that our car was forgotten at it's pick-up place and it took several phone calls on our part and two extra weeks to get our car to it's destination. The owner was mostly responsive to our phone calls, but it was very hard to reach anyone else who could help us or answer our questions. If we had not been so persistent, our car would still be on the East Coast. We paid a higher price with McElley expecting more and we were very disappointed.

When we first looked into costs to ship this vehicle from Ohio to Arizona, we had figured a ballpark price was going to be $900-1,000, based on some recon that my son had done via the Internet. My wife looked at reviews on Angie's List and was impressed with the large amount of positive reviews that McElley's had received. When I initially contact them for a quote, they were much more than what we had initially estimated. After discussing with Jim McElley and letting him know that we were very flexible in the timeline for shipping, he reduced his price closer to our initial estimate. He did warn us that larger SUV's can take longer to secure a spot on a trailer. We initially gave McElley's the order on January 15 and were told it could take 2+ weeks, which is what it ended up being. We received notice from Dena at McElley's on Feb 3 that our vehicle had been assigned a trailer and pick-up would occur on Feb 4. The driver actually made the pick up on Feb 5 and did call me on Feb 4 to say that he would try to pick it up late that day but it could slip into the next day, which was not a problem for us. The driver (George) could not have been nicer, did a good job of securing the Pilot on the trailer and then kept in constant contact with our son when he got close to Phoenix. Delivery was made on February 8, which exceeded McElley's estimated day of arrival by 3 days, and the vehicle arrived the same as it left Ohio, albeit with a lot of road salt spray. Overall, our experience with this provider was very good and we would use them again for this type of service. I may have paid more than I would have with other carriers, but I always believe that good quality comes at a slightly higher but fair price.

I had no surprises. The company was professional and able to deal easily with my changes. While I may have been stressed they were calm and reassuring. I would gladly use them again and the bonus was that they came in with the lowest bid.
