I've always liked Thayers, but the last job they did for us has just been problem after problem. They removed a ledge in our foyer and installed shiplap. The shiplap has been fine (hard to mess up shiplap), but all the drywall work they did prior to painting has been horrible. First they painted right over blemishes despite quoting us for wall repair. All the remodel work they did (ledge removal, etc) has caused severe wall cracking, etc. It was evident they didn't tape the drywall correctly. I've had to do numerous wall repairs since they did their work. We did call them back twice for repairs and one of the times the guy stood on a window ledge while repairing causing it to sink. So now that is crooked. It was never meant to support that kind of weight. Finally, they cracked one of our floor tiles either by dropping something or with their scaffolding. Frustrating experience that we will not repeat. Their pricing was extremely high too for what we got. Multiple contractors have told us that since.

The curb appeal of my house has gone up exponentially. 1. Thayer's is the only company in West Lafayette/Lafayette, IN, that offers Everlasting sidings (as far as I know). These are vinyl/plastic materials, but they are thicker than the standard vinyl sidings by a factor of 10 or more. They have the beauty of wood (multiple people have mistaken them for wood, including my insurance agent). They are extremely resistant to damage and elements. They are also completely maintenance free (in comparison, even brick sidings require maintenance: the mortar joints). 2. Thayer's has a professional and friendly management team. The three Thayer brothers are courteous, punctual, knowledgeable, and extremely responsive to my questions and concerns. I am pretty fastidious, as you can see below. Example 1. I have chosen both blue and white sidings, and have strong opinions about where they should go. While I was traveling in Europe, I learned that the white sidings had not been installed in the exact spots I had preferred, due to mis-communications. I emailed Thayer's. They promptly took down what had been put in place, and put up new sidings, exactly as I would like. Example 2. After the project was finished, I had multiple concerns, repeatedly, about minor imperfections: a panel with a small crack, a trim slightly warped, etc. Every time I asked Thayer's, they got right back to me, and fixed every single issue I had raised. 3. To be clear, Thayer's is not the cheapest. If you are looking for a quick, dirty, and cheap job, there are other contractors out there. However, if you are looking for a job that you can be proud of, Thayer's is hard to beat. 4. Thayer's accepts credit cards for payments. You can get quite a number of points, if you have a reward card with a high credit limit.

These guys were able to work us in quickly even though we thought winter would postpone our job. They were able to take a super old can of paint the previous homeowners left us and get the color matched perfectly. They replaced some old rotting trim that prior owner had done a terrible job repairing. Now air and moisture can't get in around my dining room windows, love it! I was glad to hear they had inspected for any underlying damage when the trim was off. Would love to use these guys again for interior painting. When my husband asked all his factory and electrician coworkers about our quote, all the guys thought we were offered a good price.

They were very professional and they did a good job. They are not the cheapest but after several bad experiences with cheap painting jobs I'm hoping this will last longer.

It went fine after I finally found the correct paint although I really don't like the look of the frame around the access door. I tried to explain that before the job was begun but they just weren't creative enough to think of a more attractive way to put a door there. They try to work cleanly always but on this occasion, while the worker did try to sweep up the carpet where there was drywall dust, he really didn't get it well and I had to go back over it several times. This is a situation where having laid a dropcloth would have made a great deal of different. I must note that in most of the work Thayer has done for us, they have been very tidy, very professional and very careful with their work. That's one reason we like them and go to them for our work. Sometimes their cost seems terribly high but their work is very good compared to some we've experienced in the past.

I've had a good experience overall. They are prompt and courteous. They were very friendly, informative, and they worked really well with me. I had to change the paint midway through because my wife didn't like it and they didn't get frustrated with it.

Entire job was completed in one day. There were 6 guys here at one time!! This would have taken me over a month to do on my own.
Their work is very neat and clean-up was great.
I mostly appreciate their professionalism. No course language and conversations amongst the crew was family oriented.
I did not get another estimate, so I don't know how they compare in cost to other firms. I just know how they work and I have been
pleased with them in the past.

They provided an estimate and began work. Work was complete within a week. We had paint bubble on the exterior door and three months later they returned to repair. There were some spots which weren't painted with precision, like between door frames, and cleanup on my wood floors and sanding dust remained. They use Sherwin Williams paint and it isn't my favorite quality of paint. Overall it was a good experience, I will use them again with more supervision. I should have taken time to walk through the area while the staff was still on site.
