SMITH VACUUMS

This was is a Kenmore "direct drive" vacuum, so it was not clear to me how to fix it myself.  (No belt to replace!)  So I took it into Smith Vacuum, hoping they could diagnose the problem and fix it for a price that was less than what I had paid to buy it!  Imagine my surprise when the Smith technician said, "Well, it could be several things, let plug it in and check it out before you leave it with us."  First he checked the reset button, which I did not know existed!  That was it!  Apparently the machine had run into something that slowed or stopped the brush, and it had automatically cut off the roller mechanism to avoid motor or roller damage.  He simply pressed the reset button, and it worked.  So there was no charged, and I walked out with my restored vacuum.  (Note to the wise:  Keep your vacuum manual, and read it before you go to the repair shop! I could not find mine.)  What impressed me was that he COULD have taken my vacuum, kept it, charged me for service and repair, and I never would have known the difference.  Instead, he did the simple, honest, and competent thing and checked the reset while I was there.  I definitely will return to this business when I really have something wrong with my vacuum!
