It was all good. They were able to come into the house pretty quickly on a weekend.

They did a good job but I thought they were too expensive. The trash compactor doesn't work really well. It doesn't drain very. I would look for somebody else.

They arrived on time.  They started to clean out the line then called me down to show me how their rooter blade had broken through the PVC pipe at a joint.  I ended up paying two bills, one to clean out the drain $250 and one to repair the broken pipe, $280.

Turns out, this same company pulled the same scam on my son, and another person I know.  The rooter broke a pipe in all three cases.  Turns out, PVC piping is far stronger than this rotary rooter.  The pipe was broken by the service man when I was not around.  They told me they had completely cleaned out the pipes all the way to the sewage line.  Within a year, I had to call Roto-Rooter, they cleaned the pipes out for $85, and they worked great after that.

I would never recommend Mr. Rooter to anyone.

He showed up on time and brought a helper with him. They were both very nice and quite friendly. He worked for less than an hour move the rooter (the cutting tool)  down the sewer, pull out tree roots, and then send a camera down the sewer to show me how he could only get a 4" hole cut through a 6" ball of roots. He claimed that his cutting tool simply was not large enough to take care of that large of a sewer pipe. Then he said that what I really needed was their special Hydro Scrub, a tool that shoots water in the sewer that can cut out the rest of those roots. Yes, this would cost me a lot more money, but it would be worth it, he said, because then the sewer would be clear of roots and they wouldn't grow back so fast. How much more?, I asked. He pulled out his printed and laminated company 3-ring binder with all of the set prices. The Hydro Scrub had different prices (depending on whether or not one was a "member" of something--I couldn't see what I would need to be a "member" of in order to get a cheaper price), but it was going to cost me $900 more to get the job done completely.
There was one major problem with this claim. A few years ago, someone from Mr. Rooter came and performed this exact same service with the exact same equipment (without the miraculous Hydro Scrub), and there was absolutely no problem getting all of the roots out. Some of those roots were a LOT larger than the ones pulled out this time. Also that previous time, the worker send a camera down the sewer and showed us how all of the roots were cleared. He explained that he had to send the cutter down an additional time, and the ball of roots he brought up was huge. THIS time, however, the worker sent the cutting tool down once, pulled up two clumps of roots, claimed he simply didn't have the tool to get it any better than that, and tried to up-sell me to the tune of $900. I do not appreciate the half-done job and the up-sell attempt. However, my toilet would flush and my washer would drain. But I will not do business with this company again.

Two workers showed up within three hours of our call. Both were very professional and knowledgeable. They put on booties to prevent tracking in the house. They asesed the situation and looked in their price manual to give us the cost of the job up-front.  Since the drain lines were backed up and full of drain water from the bathroom upstairs, they had to figure out a way to slowly drain the main pipe before removing the cap in the basement to give access to their snaking machine. If they opened the basement cap, water from above would have rushed over the basement floor in our storage area. They came up with the good idea of drilling a small hole in the drain pipe and letting it "pee" into buckets that were carried outside. Once the water line was at the "pee" hole, they removed the main cap, inserted their snake and retrieved the rag. They then cut the section with the "pee" hole out and replaced it with a rubber splice held on by clamps. The whole job took about 1 and 1/2 hours. They picked up their tarp and left without spilling a drop of drain water. We were impressed with their ingenuity in solving the problem, their professionalism and the overall service.
We would call them again. The only regret was that the price was a bit high in our opinion.

Had a problem with sewer back up. Called to have them come out. They were very professional and took care of the problem just fine. The price seemed way out of line. Granted it was in line with the estimate to which we agreed, but we only agreed because we didn't have time to shop around.
