Dream Designs

I believe Penny is one of, if not the best, cake bakers in the Lafayette area. I spent quite a bit of time going to bridal shows and taste testing the various bakers in town. Most were dry and not much better than a cake mix I can do at home. Some of them had nice designs, but had a reputation for inconsistency in quality. Then I tasted Penny's samples at a show and I was sold. The cake was moist and she had several different flavors, and her designs were a step above the rest.
She was very nice to work with and easily communicated everything to me. We ended up getting three flavors: chocolate with chocolate filling, white with raspberry filling, and creme brulee.
When she delivered the cake on the day of my wedding, it was exactly what I had wanted. She frosted the cake in buttercream and put a lace design on it with draped icing off the layers. Then she added fresh flowers that had been provided by my florist.
Everyone raved about the cake, and we've had enough leftovers that we've been eating it for a while and we still aren't tired of it. She also did an anniversary cake, which I didn't know was included in the price. That was a nice surprise.
The only flaw was that she forgot to put the chocolate filling in the chocolate cake, so she is going to reimburse me the extra charge for the filling. But the cake was still awesome and nobody noticed the difference. I would definitely recommend Penny for anyone needing a cake for a special occasion.
