They were ready for me when I arrived. The mechanic showed me what had gone wrong with the brakes on my eleven-year-old vehicle. While my car was on the lift, the mechanic also noticed my rear shocks were in pretty bad shape. Since I don't get under the car to inspect them, I okayed his diagnosis on the brakes and shocks. I was out of there in a couple hours and I'm pleased with the repairs.

Very smoothly. Had issue with wheel vibration. Owner took time to drive the vehicle and diagnose problem although he charged only for the oil change. Will go back there

I purchased my car about a year ago used and other than putting tires on it and having the oil changed every 3,000 miles, have done nothing else to it. Because of winter coming, I thought I should get the brakes checked. I called at 9am to see when I could come in. They told me to come on over, so I did. They drove my car immediately, and said it felt fine. They pulled the wheels, checked out the brakes, and said they were in good shape. In addition, they checked the rest of the vehicle for me including the transmission, cooling system, etc., and said that it had been very well maintained. They showed me the air filter, which needed replaced, and told me about servicing the injection system to keep the vehicle operating at its best. I agreed to the service, and they were done in less than an hour. The guys were amazing....friendly and informative. It is SO nice to find someplace to take my cars (I have a classic that I won't let just anyone touch)....that is not trying to 'pad the bill'...especially when nothing needed replaced or repaired. I listened to them with other customers when I was there, and they did everything they could do to save them money on their bills. I not only will return, but I will be recommending them to others. GOOD JOB GUYS!!!

Positive points--My appointment was at 8 I was pulling out 9. My dealer had told me I needed front and rear brakes and the cost would be $570. I went to AAS to get a quote and was told that I still had 50% life on the front brakes and I only needed the rear ones at a cost $165. I didn't provide a quality grade because the service was only provided today but based on other reviews my expectations are high. The owner and the manager were the only people I spoke to but both were courteous and professional-with the exceptions noted below
Not so positive point-The sign above the counter indicated a lifetime warranty on brake pads. As I paid my bill I asked about the warranty and the response was to point to the sign above the counter--no written warranty was provided to take with me and that raises a red flag. They also failed to tell me that they didn't resurface the rotors and I failed to ask while there. I later called to clarify and was told that my rotors were in great shape and they didn't need to be ground. At 73K miles that is a little surprising but since they likely would have billed me for the service and because of the reputation of the company found in reviews here and elsewhere I'm inclined to to believe my 73K mile car has great rotors.
Overall my experience was good. I will go back and I would recommend AAS to others

"Thanks for your review. We are mailing you a written copy of our warranty. Regarding your rotors, Honda and Acura rotors have a history of developing pulsation - especially after resurfacing. The condition of your rotor surfaces was good, so in order to retain as much rotor material as possible to dissipate heat and avoid pulsation, we determined the best course of action was not to resurface your rotors. In addition, with 73K miles, resurfacing could have resulted in you needing to replace your rotors at significant additional cost. Please let us know if your car develops any further issues, we are here to help and thank you for your business."

Everything was finished in about 30 minutes. I have always been pleased with the staff, their work -- quality, prices, helpfulness, etc. I do feel they have saved me a small fortune for trusting them versus going to a dealer, when I never know what is happening. I have been going to AAS (formerly ABS) for about 15 years and plan to keep right on going back. I rely on these men to take care of my cars -- and in a very real sense my safety on the road. I heartily recommend AAS to anyone. Period.

I went into the shop without an appointment and just a quote for a battery change for my vehicle. I told them I needed my car to be done that day since I was moving that day and they had no problems with my request. The quote that they gave me versus other places in Lafayette was the best value and they even discovered a broken part on my car that connected the air filter to the engine. I'm really happy that I was able to have such a successful experience before I moved across the country.

It went very smoothly. I was surprised at how fast it went. I have been with these men for probably 15 years. I will go with them for many more. They have worked on 4 or 5 cars and SUVs, all with impeccable professionalism. Patriotic gentlemen as well. Goodto see in such a business. Ladies, they have the cleanest restroom I have ever seen at any plave involving vehicles, including dealerships.. This is the OUTSTSTANDING place of its kind in a wide area.

I was given a detailed list (with explanations) of everything they planned to do, along with the cost, before they started work, they finished the work quickly, and the final cost was the same as the estimate.

These guys were awesome. Very friendly, very helpful, very knowledgeable, honest, and incredible about pricing. I called them on a Wednesday afternoon, after an intermittent problem I'd been having where the check-engine light would come on and report a cylinder misfire got worse. The car was also idling real rough, and I was worried it was going to die on me. I had a flight to catch Thursday afternoon and needed to drive the car to Indy to do it. They said, "Sure, bring it in."
They weren't able to fix the problem (it turned out to be something leaking inside the engine that will require a major repair), but they were able to eliminate a lot of potential issues and let me know that the car would probably get me where I needed to go. They swapped several things around inside the engine, checked a bunch of components, and drove it around several times to see what was going wrong.
And in the end, all they charged me was $20 for an additive they put in the oil to help tide me over until I can get the thing fixed.
I was up a creek and a mechanic absolutely could have taken advantage of me. These guys didn't, and I'll be going back to them every time I have a car problem for as long as I'm living here.

We found a used car for my son and needed to have it checked by a professional. We used one vendor several times but they were packed that day. We contacted American Automotive Services and they made an appointment the same day. They were thorough and explained everything. We were very confident when purchasing the vehicle. After the purchase, we took the car back for a tune up and new tires. The car drives like a dream. Their cost was VERY competitive. The service was outstanding to boot.

The 1986 Fiero came to us with multiple issues that we did address and repair - a vacuum leak, a leaking axle seal on the transmission and a loose alternator belt. In addition, there was an intermittent issue that turned out to be that the spark plug wires were weak causing the car to run rough. We agree that finding the cause of this problem took longer than it should have. Once we finally diagnosed that the spark plug wires needed replacing, the customer declined to have us do that portion of the work. In the end, we apologize for not being able to provide a satisfactory outcome as that is what we have worked hard to do every day of the 18 years we have been in business."

I had a great experience with American Automotive Services from the beginning. Scheduling my appointment (and subsequently re-scheduling a bit earlier) went very easily. I arrived earlier from an appointment which ended early and they were able to get me in immediately. I was actually able to leave before my original appointment time even started. Their service was quick, thorough and professional.
