I am still using them, they come out every week. She's 91 and has some short term memory loss. I have been using them more than a year. The girl that is helping my mom gets along with her. My mom is particular in who helps her and she had a problem with most of the Comfort Keepers and then we found Phyllis and they are best of friends now.
Description of Work: Comfort Keepers help my mother with bathing and housekeeping.

My mother tends to be rather stubborn and she doesn't want help, but we finally find somebody at Comfort Keepers that she seems to bond with and allows to help her. They seem to be very conscientious about it. I haven't had any problems with them, once we found someone that my mom would allow to help her.
Description of Work: I've hired a company to come out and help my mother who is 91, to take a bath and stuff like that. It was Comfort Keepers. They do it once a week.

I needed a care worker to help me move my mom from Jordon's Nursing home in Bridgman, MII to the Willows, St Joseph, MI.. That was where my dad wanted her near him. Dad could not drive. The Care worker was nice. She was paid for the 3 hours of helping me move my mom. The worker was an older lady. She was kind, and helpful. I called Comfort Keepers Located in Benton Harbor, and St Joseph, Michigan. They have a franchise business office. Berrien County, Michigan.

My mother-in-law, whom I dearly love, needed 7x24 hour care in her home. It was obvious to us that her dementia and 86 years of living fully were compromising her quality of life. She needed someone to see that her basic needs were being taken care of. We discussed several options and decided she needed to stay in her own home. Comfort Keepers answered all our questions and stepped us through the process. Their contract was straightforward and specifically stated that we remove jewelry and valuables from the home to avoid the situation mentioned in a previous review. We have two regular mature women who trade off staying with Marian. Faye and Joanne are caring and loving people we are glad came into our lives. Within a short period of time, they have become part of the family. Their duties are light housekeeping, making nutritious meals, bathing and keeping a daily log. They are there when the visiting nurses, physical and occupational therapy stop by. Medicare does not cover in home care, but we have 2 Long Term Care policies that will help pay for part of the services. Comfort Keepers assists us in submitting the claims and tracking the weekly logs that are required. I would use them again and recommend their kind and caring services to anyone. The cost is dependent on the amount of care, we needed 7x24 hour care and the cost was approximately $135/day.

I was missing a pair of diamond earrings which I have no doubt she took, she had me write out a check to her, she almost forced me to do it, and I was in so much pain that I did it. The check was supposed to go to Comfort Keepers and she knew that, but she kept the check, and then they came after me. I paid them, and it had something to do with my credit, so it lowered my credit rating. It's not fair, what they do, they don't train their people in any way, they don't screen them, and they don't even meet them, they talk to them on the phone. Then they send thieves into my home. I was down, I had no defenses, I was on a low period, and I was taken advantage of. I was really extremely upset, I even called the owner of Comfort Keepers and talked to her, she came out here, and that was even more trouble, because she wanted to see the check that I wrote. I didn't want to give her my whole checkbook, so I had to go down to the basement even though it was very painful for me, and make a copy. Fortunately, I have my own copy machine, but it was a pain. They were terrible. People who do cleaning do it because they think that they can sit down and watch TV, and because they can't get hired for any other job, so it's their last trick, they really don't want to do it, and they are not interested. A lot of them are flakey, one girl I noticed, was very nervous and shaking, and I thought to myself that I was not so bad that she should be scared of me. I also noticed that she was as thin as a rail, so I put two and two together and thought that maybe she was hungry, and asked her if she had had breakfast, and she said that she had not. I gave her breakfast of strawberries, toast, butter and I probably fried an egg for her too. She ate that, and her shaking decreased a lot. I feel sorry for them, but I am not in the business of feeding them, there are places they can go to eat, or they can ask someone, but they don't.
Description of Work: I used Comfort Keepers to clean my house and to help me when I was sick.
