YOUNG CONCRETE

The cement is messy and starting to crack. There are various issues with it including holes, gouges, lumps, leaves in the cement, and discoloring. The cement was poured to where water drains to the side of my garage.

The site was not prepared properly and not enough dirt was removed from the site so when the concrete was poured it was too thin in the middle. Within a few months it cracked and over time had 4 huge cracks in this small piece of concrete. I am now having it torn out and replaced by someone else. When they removed the piece Young did it was ONLY 2 inches thick in the middle instead of the minimum of 4 inches. This is why it cracked so badly. I am very disappointed in this low quality work!!

It cost us quite a bit because we did it in about three stages. He was a good personality and he comes off pretty good but the actual craftsmanship was a little bit lacking. We must not have communicated too well on this one little item and also there is one or two places in the drive, particularly in the turnaround where they didn't have it leveled out right and it traps water. Quite a few times he would come out and put a skin coat and tried to build it up and he wouldn't come back and follow up. It's been a while since we had a good rain but it's still pooling up and we have to call him. He doesn't go out of his way to come and try to finish the job up. For the fair amount of money we've given him, we're kind of disappointed. He got stuff done pretty quickly when we had hired him to come and do it, but it still a sort of bad teeth in our mouth that he didn't get it right the first time. It seems like if you've been putting driveways in for a long time then you would know to have it filled out because we are on a hill. It seems like he could have got the level flattened out so that it wouldn't trap any water.

Mr. Young provided us with the cheapest quote on our driveway, $4680. However, we decided to use another contractor with a slightly higher price. The only reason we used the other contractor was that our neighbor gave us a personal recommendation on the other contractor.

It was excellent. They were prompt and professional. I would recommend them.

I called them to get an estimate on tearing out and replacing two sets of concrete steps from the sidewalk up to our front porch. Jerry answered my questions about what he could do and offered to come by to take a look at the steps before giving me the estimate. We played phone tag for over a week trying to find a time that fit my schedule. He was very responsive in returning my calls (unlike another contractor that I never heard back from). He ended up stopping by on a Sunday afternoon to give me the estimate. His estimate was very reasonable ($1500). While we ended up going with another contractor who's a friend of the family, I would definitely hire Jerry if I need concrete work in the future.

I have called him a couple of times because my driveway already has cracks. He came out and looked at it and since then he will not call me back. I would never use them again.

They are very dependable. But they were unable to get the work done correctly the first time; they had to come back three times to fix previous jobs. When the work was finally done, it was satisfactory.

Our driveway is very daunting. We had 4 concrete contractors come out and look at our driveway. Three failed to get back with us. One decline the job without even offering an estimate. In addition to being long and C-shaped, it has a very steep slope on the curve, heater coils down the slope and 6 ft rock walls on each side. At the base of the drive is a 2 x 4 x 30 ft drain with a steel grate cover essential for diverting the vast amount of water coming down the driveway away from our home's foundation. Jerry Young (Young Concrete)looked at our drive one day, gave us an estimate the next day and began work the following Monday. Jerry and his team were wonderful. Like watching a professional basketball team, head coach Jerry instructed his team on what he needed and expected the team to do and then guided them as they executed the work with precision. Jerry's team is extremely hard working. Despite the laborious task of having to push concrete uphill before it set, they were pleasant and respectful not only to myself, the homeowner, and Jerry, but also with each other. Not one cuss word was heard the entire time they work on the drive. The team also worked well with our electrician who assisted with laying the heating coils. Jerry's men truly work as a team; a team that takes pride in their work and rightfully so. The driveway is sound and looks wonderful. The heater coils are in. The drain is intact and has been successfully tested by the May 2008 downpours. For a job done right, no need to look elsewhere, call Jerry.

Mr. Young is wonderful on his responsiveness. We called him for a price and he called back within the hour. When we agreed upon the price, he offered to come out that afternoon to do the work. Mr. Young and his employees are very hard workers and did a fantastic job. You don't find many people like him, or his crew. We have already recommended him to some friends.

They were good to work with and if we had gone with concrete work we would have hired them.

The contractor poured the curb, but used a cruder kind of concrete, one with more large stones. The result was a curb that overall serves the purpose but doesn't look as smooth as the rest of the driveway.

He was very nice, exceedingly professional. They arrived when they said that they were going to. They did 2-3 things extra, that he asked me about. He had a gentleman add some designs in our sidewalk that my wife and I absolutely love. We are very pleased. He came out five days later to check on it and make sure there were no cracks or anything. I would highly recommend them!

I really enjoyed working with Mr Young. I left a message requesting an estimate, and he called me back promptly. He was very courteous and professional. He sent an associate out right away to write the estimate. He was also great. Jerry made necessary changes to the estimate on the spot as we modified the project. He was able to start the project very soon, and he completed the work in one day. The price and quality of Mr Young's work was VERY good. I highly recommend him and would hire again without hesitation.

Jerry was great to work with! I contacted him for a quote and he provided me with a fair price within a couple of days. The job was scheduled and Jerry and his crew arrived promptly on the day agreed upon. Jerry and his crew were friendly and professional and completed the work quickly. They removed gravel from the existing drive and hauled it to our office for a small job (concrete apron) that Jerry was also doing for us. Our drive was completed in a day and sealed the following day. In addition, Jerry's crew sealed an existing concrete drive/parking area. After completing our drive, Jerry poured a 4'x60'concrete apron at a storage building located at our office. Jerry Young and his crew did an excellent job at both locations and I would use him in the future and would also recommend Jerry Young/Young Concrete.

Jerry and his crew were on time and very polite and so pleasant. They completed the work in the two days quoted. The driveway looks great. The old driveway was in really bad shape and they did a great job of leveling out and shoring up spots so water would run off. Despite temperatures in the mid 90s, Jerry and his crew were some of the hardest workers I have ever seen.

Their price was much better than most other companies I checked. The job was done in two days. The finished product looks great. They were very neat, although I did not like the way they got rid of the extra fill dirt that was left over. Without checking, they dumped dirt around the property wherever they thought extra dirt was needed, even when it really wasn't. They even put some in the next door neighbor's yard.

MR. YOUNG WAS VERY COURTEOUS AND ATTENTIVE. HE MADE SUGGESTIONS AND FOLLOWED UP WITH US DURING THE ESTIMATE PROCESSES AND AFTER THE JOB WAS FINISHED. WE WOULD RECOMMEND HIM.

JERRY WAS VERY PROMPT IN RESPONDING AND QUOTING THE JOB. HE AND CREW WERE ON TIME, VERY PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS. WE HAD A SPECIAL REQUEST ON THE DESIGN OF THE SIDEWALK, AND HE EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATION OF THE FINAL APPEARANCE OF IT. THEY GOT THE JOB DONE ON TIME AND WITHIN BUDGET. WE WOULD DEFINITELY USE HIM AGAIN!

HIS PRICE WAS REASONABLE, FINISHED IT WITHIN THE TIME FRAME HE ESTIMATED AND WAS NEAT DURING THE PROCESS.
