Musical Instrument Repair
I believe I was ripped off and taken advantage of by Guitar Center Indianapolis. I do not recommend anyone buy anything of value from this ?big box? store. I personally will never spend another penny with the company
In 2010, I went to the Indianapolis store to purchase a new guitar. It was the first time in many years I was going to actually buy a brand new guitar. When I got to the shop, I was torn between two different guitars and a salesman sold me h****** a Schecter Hellraiser, and I ended up buying it.
Within a few weeks, all of the knobs had fallen off and the strap nut was falling out of the guitar. It seemed really junky. Two years later, the guitar abruptly stopped working.
It was taken to the same GC in December of 2012 along with a note asking for the problem to be diagnosed and fixed, and for my knobs and strap nut to be replaced. I got a call from repair guy, Tony, who said my guitar had had serious work done to it, and he said something like ?there were a bunch of things taped together in there. This guitar has had a lot of work done to it.?
I got suspicious, and he basically made it very clear that he thought I was the one who did it. I said, ?It seems very strange to me that a new guitar with one owner would already have had repair work done to it.? He said, ?Yeah, that is suspicious,? in a sarcastic voice like it was me who had done it. I don?t know anything about electronics, nothing.
I went in to retrieve my guitar and got the same response from Tony. He gave me the guitar back and did not explain one thing that he had done. I expressed my disappointment to another guy who I think was a low-level manager and he just acted like it happens all the time. In fact, I was charged $35 for the repair job. I was visibly angry at this point and there were several employees standing around me, yet not a single one offered to do anything to resolve the situation. One guy actually said, ?Watch out when you walk out of here, somebody might try and sell you a new guitar.? Are you freaking kidding me?
I complained to GC corporate and got no response. I got a call from the Indy store manager (Jeremy) and he at first acted like he cared. He said he would not replace the guitar, but would refund the $35. I told him I wasn?t happy with this outcome and he said there was nothing else he could do. Guess what? I had to email him a week later because he never refunded the charge. This time, he responded that he could only refund the money to my GC credit card, even though I used my regular credit card. Two months have passed and he still has not refunded the money. He lied to my face.
In conclusion, GC sold me a guitar at full price even though it obviously had been damaged and repaired at some point. When I called them on it, they made up excuses, blamed me and blew me off. They did absolutely nothing to try and fix the situation. What am I supposed to do when I want to sell or trade the guitar? I will get nothing for it. I will never spend another penny at GC, and
tell every musician I know about my situation.

Musical Instrument Repair
I am purchasing a Gretsch guitar used for an amazing price, and I needed to make sure that they could repair what is wrong with it. I would have hated to have purchased it, and then it not be repairable. They went over what kind of repairs they could do in house, and they were very helpful and informative. When I receive the guitar, I will be taking it there for repairs.

THE FIRST TURNTABLE WAS MISSING A PART. WE RETURNED IT, & THE MANAGER JEREMY REPLACED IT WITH A NEW TURNTABLE, & GAVE US A $40 ITEM AS AN APPRECIATION GIFT. VERY IMPRESSED.
