IPhone 5 was eligible for a battery replacement per the Apple web site. Appt at 1:30 pm on Friday at Apple store - arrived 15 min. early. Check in is always tenuous. Carlos was my tech. He agreed to replace battery at no charge. At 2:30 phone was ready.
Tech assistant told me the 20% charge on the new battery was normal. I was at home by 3:30 and charged the phone. By 4:30 nothing was happening. Rebooted phone and had a charge of 100%. Then within minutes the charge dropped.
Called Apple online support - after 30 min finally reached and quot;Tanyaand quot; who claimed to have never heard of my battery issue. Transferred me to the local store. Waited on the phone for 20 min for and quot;Chrisand quot; who did not know of any Tanya and had never heard of my battery issue but did say they have received a bad batch of batteries. I scheduled another appointment for the next day - Saturday at 1:00 pm
and quot;This time my tech was and quot;Zackand quot; who happened to be the same person who sold me the phone in May of 2013. Zach ran a and quot;diagnosisand quot; and determined I had a bad battery. Phone was ready for pick up at 2:30. and quot;Travisand quot; brought me the phone but could not tell me what was done to repair it other than replace the new battery, When at home the phone started crashing every 2-3 minutes - continuously. All evening Saturday and all day Sunday.
Scheduled another appointment for 9:00 am on Monday. and quot;Alpenand quot; was my tech. He ran diagnostics the others did not. Said the software was not talking to the battery. Said the phone needed to be replaced - AFTER he wiped everything off of my phone trying to re-install the software.. Implied I would need to pay for replacement since it is 4 months out of warranty. I reminded him my phone worked perfectly on Friday but does not since APPLE worked on it. He agreed to replace the phone at no cost. Their inventory was and quot;depletedand quot;. Would take 5+ business days to get shipment. Apple does not sell this phone anymore but they keep inventories as replacements. Their inventory was out due to high volume of replacements of my model.
I have lost all confidence in the repair techs at the Apple store. Each will tell you what they want you to hear and when challenged do not want to admit they are fully aware of the issues. After much pushing I got all three techs to admit this was a problem for Apple. Even as I stood waiting - Fri - Sat and Mon - other customers were bringing their IPhone 5 in for battery replacement. Yet Chris and Zach both said I was the first they had heard of the problem.
All three had a different story for the same problem. I found the internet blogs have been discussing the battery issue for over 12 months. Yet the store techs said they were unaware of these blogs or discussions.
I live 5 miles from the Apple store. I feel sorry for anyone who travels any great distance for repairs.

Business specialists were very helpful and responsive - unfortunately the referral suggestion for the Apple Consulting Network never responded to me but this is not the fault of the Apple Store. Generally speaking the staff at the Apple Store is very helpful in terms of being waited on and making initial contact. However where I have an issue is that often the and quot;productand quot; experts are not really experts, and give me no additional insight beyond what I could have obtained easily online.

I was assisted as soon as I walked in the store and when I told them what I was looking for the man tailored it to me and my needs and got me set with the right computer. When I went back in to get my iphone taken care of I did have to wait for about an hour and a half to get service but once they got to me it was quick and friendly. They inspected my iphone and saw that there was no damage and it was spotless so they went ahead and just replaced it with a brand new one on the spot. This was great because I thought I was going to have to send it in or something. Apple's products are a little higher than competitors, but you do get what you pay for. I still have my old laptop from 2005 and it works great still. A little pricey but I would never go back to a PC again.

My iphone wasn't working properly and then all of the sudden it locked up. I went to the apple store without an appointment and they said it was going to be approx a 30 minute wait. They put my name on a list and in about 25 minutes they called my name. The place was a complete madhouse because the ipad 2 was still in high demand. They plugged the iphone 3gs into their system, found the problem, did something to the programing and handed it back to me. The kicker is they didn't charge me a penny. They appologized that I had problems and had to wait 30 minutes and they sent me on my way. This is why apple is a leading company in the tech industry. They have the coolest gadgets and they stand behind them.

It was great. The genius, whose name escapes me, asked me what was going on, listened to my descriptions and concerns, and ran a pretty thorough set of diagnostics. Any more, he said, would require sending the machine to Cupertino and back. On top of this, they were happy to help me lug this heavy tower to and from my car. He found nothing, but did give me some things to pursue. I'm an IT professional, so I was able to do this on my own. One worked, and the next time I was in the store, two weeks later, he asked me how things were. Upon finding out I was an IT professional, he introduced me to a business specialist who can help me get contract work around town.

We went into the store to buy a new ipod touch. The young lady who greeted us at the door and attempted to help us at the store had no knowledge of the products in the store. We did stay around and finally talked to a young man who was an assistant manager. I am glad we stayed because I LOVE my new Apple IPOD Touch.

So far, we're thrilled. It's taking us a little getting used to in uncovering the inner workings of the Mac, but little by little, we're adjusting to the differences. The staff at the Apple Store were terrific to work with. Cassandra helped us decide on the final details and was very knowledgeable and patient. She helped us choose the printer and talked to us about various programs we can take advantage of through Apple to help service the Mac and train its new owners.

The first time I took my computer to the Apple Store for service I sat there waiting for several minutes before I noticed the signs saying that you had to sign up for an appointment. You can only sign up online, so I went to one of the computers in the store to do this. The next appointment was over an hour later, so I gave up and tried again the next day. I made the appointment online, but still had to wait for help at the "Genius Bar" when I arrived. However, once my turn had come, I had the guy's undivided attention while he looked at the computer (an ibook). The CD/DVD drive wasn't working, so it had to be sent away to be fixed. It was returned by FedEx to my house in less than a week. 3 weeks later my whole computer crashed. It was obviously not related to the CD drive, so I took it back to the Apple Store (made an appointment first!) expecting to pay a bunch more money. Nope, it was still covered by warranty, simply because it had been serviced within the past 90 days!

My iPod froze up, and I took it into the store. They gave me a replacement, which also stopped working. They gave me another replacement, which has been fine for almost a year now. I'm glad for the warranty, for sure, but the Apple Store people were awesome.

My PowerBook locked up during a normal software update and wouldn't reboot. Called customer service and they made an appointment for me to visit the Apple Store Genius Desk the very same day. They were able to save all my files after reloading the operating system. Very polite, professional, and prompt. My PowerBook was covered by the extended service plan so there was no cost. While I don't usually buy the extended warranties for most products, for a laptop it makes sense and in this case, it paid off.

I HAD AN EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE AT THE APPLE STORE GETTING REPAIRS TO MY COMPUTER. IT IS POSSIBLE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT ONLINE TO GET HELP OR REPAIRS. THE PERSONNEL ARE FRIENDLY, KNOWLEDGEABLE AND PROMPT. MY EXPERIENCE WAS FAR ABOVE WHAT I HAD EXPECTED. WHEN I LEFT THE STORE, I KNEW WHAT HAD TO BE DONE, HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST (NO CHARGE) AND HOW LOW IT WOULD TAKE. OBVIOUSLY I WILL RETURN HERE FOR ANY NECESSARY PURCHASE, REPAIR OR INSTRUCTION ON APPLE PRODUCTS.

THE SALES PERSON'S AT APPLE STORE ARE BOTH PASSIONATE ABOUT THEIR PRODUCT; AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. THIS IS IN STARK CONTRAST TO THE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE YOU SEE AT OTHER LOCAL BIG BOX RETAILERS.
