T & Z DRIVEWAY REPAIR

Tommy is very verbal and has a great ''schpiel.'' He knocked on my door one weekend and talked me into letting him seal my driveway. He said he used some special sealer to get rid of all the cracks. He also convinced me to let him seal the bricks on the steps and to patch a portion of the driveway that was sagging with ''cold patch''. Tommy's work was sloppy. He got sealant on the grass and pavers, and left lots of brush marks. I was not happy with his work and asked him to take a look at it. To his credit, he did come back and put another coat of sealer on the driveway, again getting it on the grass and leaving brush marks. The cold patch had not been properly done, and my dog was getting it on her feet and carrying it into the house. He was fairly annoyed that I was asking him to fix the mistake. He said I should have warned him that the dog might walk on the patch, but said he would remove it. He left in a huff because I had not thanked him for resealing the driveway.

TOMMY LEFT A FLYER IN MY MAILBOX OFFERING SEVERAL SERVICES I WAS IN NEED OF, SO I FIGURED I'D TAKE A CHANCE ON A PROACTIVE SMALL BUSINESS ENTREPRENEUR. I CALLED HIM AND HE WAS VERY NICE AND ATTENTIVE OVER THE PHONE. HE CAME OVER TO GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE, AND PERSUADED ME THAT HE WOULD ELIMINATE THE CRACKS IN MY BLACKTOP DRIVEWAY AND COAT IT SO IT WOULD NOT HAVE TO BE RE-DONE FOR SEVERAL YEARS. HE IS A FAST-TALKER AND SUGGESTED THAT HE USED A MUCH THICKER HIGHER QUALITY BLACKTOP SEAL AND FILLER THAN WHAT THE OTHER SEALCOAT COMPANIES USE. HE ALSO CONVINCED ME TO LET HIM FILL THE CRACKS IN MY CONCRETE WALKWAY AND SEAL IT AS WELL. HE BROUGHT HIS GRANDSON ALONG AND I FELT SOMEWHAT SORRY FOR HIM, SO I AGREED TO HIS SUGGESTIONS. I HAVE NO IDEA WHETHER HE WAS INTENTIONALLY SCAMMING ME OR IF HE TRIES HIS BEST, BUT THE WORK WAS AWFUL. HIS TEAM WAS SLOPPY AND MY DRIVEWAY IS FULL OF CRACKS. THE JOB SHOULD HAVE COST ONLY A FRACTION OF WHAT IT DID. MY BLACKTOP NEEDS TO BE REDONE.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PROVIDER WAS HORRIBLE! HE HAD A GREAT SPEECH ABOUT HOW HE COULD MAKE OUR DRIVEWAY LOOK GREAT, HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE HE HAD, ETC. THE WORK WAS SHODDY, LOOKS AWFUL, AND HE DID NOT DO EVEN HALF OF WHAT HE SAID HE WOULD. I FINALLY ENDED UP JUST PAYING HIM TO GET HIM OFF OUR PROPERTY.
