I would not recommend SWAT Environmental. They installed a radon system at my house and did a very poor job sealing the pipe out of the roof. It immediately started leaking. They came out and said they fixed the leak, but they gave me the run around for months to pay to repair the water damage. Finally, they paid for the water damage repairs. A few months later, their supposed leak repair failed and it leaked again, resulting in more water damage. I paid another company $930 to fix it right and I'll have to pay for more repairs. It was such a hassle to get them to pay for the first repair that I didn't even bother a second time.

Excellent. What I thought would be a simple install turned out to be harder and more labor intensive than expected. The installer really worked hard to get the job done on time with high quality. I am very pleased with the outcome, price and value.

I agreed to install in a house I was selling. Work was done after new owner moved in. Every tine I spoke to them the price was different, for the exact same *** on. Three conversations with three different people, three different prices. I WIULD BE VERY LEERY. There are a lot of other companies.

Chris who came to install during installation mentioned that the recommended pressure is 0.5 in and when his installation completed it was 0.2in. He could not give right answers and said that it will pick up pressure in two days. I reached out to Service team after two days and he deferred me to the Director. There has been no response from her yet. It is a sub-par installation and they dont want to accept or rectify their mistake. Feel like I flushed a bunch of money down the toilet.

Quite a low price and came in ask for a much higher price. Price match my other offer but did an incomplete work I realized two years later. Contact customer service, the first thing they said was that it is not covered by warranty even they didn't know what happened. Customer service is just a joke. Never return the phone call as they promised. Always try to charge more money for their lousy job done in the first place. How come this company is still A?

I can't understand all of the negative reviews. Selling my house and needed Radon Remediation as a condition of sale. No one wants to do this, no one. However, my experience was painless. From the first call to the service tech, Brad, (more on him later), everything thing went smooth as silk. Brad was amazing. Polite, intelligent, personable, knowledgeable and did he do an amazing job. Everything was explained, clearly. This job couldn't have gone better. It was so painless, that I am trying to get my sellers to use SWAT---in particular, Brad, to do the work in my 1926 house that needs the same work. In conclusion, perfect in every way. Highest recommendation.

Installer came to my home. Looked to be a 21 year old kid who had no clue what he was doing. He was completely unprepared with proper tools to do the job, and he had to cancel. They could not reschedule for 2 weeks. Unfortunately, I had cash buyers who expected to close the following week after the initial appointment. This poor service ultimately led to me losing my buyers who were on a tight deadline and costing me thousands. When I let management know it was urgent they get a tech there and why, they shrugged it off and could care less. This is not a professionally ran organization. While the price may seem right, buyer beware on what you get with this shady organization.

Bad product, bad warranty, bad customer service.
We had an experience similar to other reviewers. SWAT installed a radon system in our home in early 2012. A few days ago, we noticed it making a sound it's never made before. We called to have someone come take a look and over the phone, the service tech told us it was the fan, that the part was covered under warranty, but that installing the part would be $200. To make matters worse, they wanted $200 just to come to the house to see if that was even the problem. Without arguing, I told the service tech that I'd like to check my paperwork to confirm what he was telling me about the warranty and he snapped at me that the paperwork would say the exact same thing. It might say the same thing, but becoming rude and beligerent because a customer wants to verify what you're telling them is completely unprofessional and unacceptable.  He became even more rude when I told him I had a former certified radon tech out to our house who told me the unit was not installed properly.  He raised his voice and essentially told me that the other radon tech couldn't possibly know what he was talking about.
Many other radon companies, including the one we're going to use, have "A" ratings. Use one of them.  There is a reason this company doesn't get higher reviews.  For the record, when we called one of the companies with an "A" rating and told them about our situation, they GUESSED that we were talking about SWAT.  SWAT is the first name that came up when we mentioned a bad experience with a radon contractor.  They use cheap parts and then charge to replace them later, which was exactly our experience.
Response from SWAT Radon Mitigation - Indianapolis
"I would like to apologize for any inappropriate behavior from any staff member in this office, that is not how someone should communicate with a customer. I understand having to pay a service fee can be difficult at times, but our warranties clearly state that you have a 5 year Manufacturer warranty on the fan. The only thing covered is the component not our technicians labor (which is standard for most radon mitigation companies), the techs are paid per job not hourly or salary which is why we have to charge, now if our tech stated the system was installed wrong then you would not pay anything because of the workmanship warranty. I am the Director in the Service department and value each one of our customers and do agree this is not how this call should have went. I would be happy to work with you the best I can in order to resolve this, please call me at 517-908-3269. I want to assure you the equipment we use is not faulty, we use Radon Away which is the top supplier in the US. These fans can go out anywhere from 1 -10 years, this is not something we can control it runs 24/7 and depending on your homes underground conditions, some will work harder than others which can cause them to go out quicker than others. We get several calls daily from customers with 3rd party systems that no longer work and no one is helping them, but we do and that is what I would like to do for you. I am again very sorry for your experience please reach out to me when you get a chance."

After plans with another company fell through, I requested information on 11/6, received an estimate 11/7, and had the work done on 11/9.  We were concerned about where the pipes would be installed since the basement is finished, but were told that with the FanMax, we would need only one pipe in the corner with nothing run from a crawlspace under an addition. Everything went very smoothly, and a retest showed good levels after 8 months.

After several calls to the company to find out why it is so loud they diagnosed it over the phone and said the fan is bad and their warranty covers the fan but not the labor and the labor is $149.  They also required a credit card over the phone.  When i complained about a part going out before a year is out the President sent an email that i wouldn't be charged another labor charge if the same part went out within a year.  When the technician came out he said everything was working fine and there was no need for a fan.  The system is loud because there is not enough water in the drain tiles????  It hasn;t been loud until the last three weeks.  I am getting the run around with this company and their word cannot be trusted.  They obviously don't care about any reviews as i told the President i was going to write this review on Angies list and there was no response.  they charged my 149 for nothing.  DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.  CRAPPY PRODUCT, CRAPPY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CRAPPY BILLING POLICIES.
Response from SWAT Radon Mitigation - Indianapolis
"Sorry for the poor experience with our company. A new, replacement fan was offered, however, I am seeing that the customer did not want the new fan. The sounds heard due to the system, were sounds that are common with Radon Mitigation Systems."

Swat installed radon mitigation system at our house. He did come on time. I felt like his installation was not that great, pipes are not holding very well on the wall. Currently  the system is working good, but once in while in winter it make some vibration noice.

On 9/18/2013, SWAT Environmental installed a Radon mitigation system in my newly purchased home.  My wife was home during  the installation.  We paid for an 'upgrade' to have the piping routed up the garage wall and through the roof, rather than having an unsightly PVC pipe and flower fan hanging off the side of our house.
SWAT installed the system, and left.  Fast forward to the next rainstorm, on October 31st 2013.  This storm had high winds and heavy rain.  I ended up with a soaked patch of ceiling in my garage right next to the radon system.  At this point, I did not immediately blame the radon system, because it was possible the storm had damaged the roof.  USAA, my home insurer, sent out a licensed contractor/inspector to assess any damages.  THERE WERE NONE.  The storm did not damage the roof one bit.
On the other hand, the inspector notified me that the rubber boot installed on the radon pipe was not fully seated, causing a buckle in the rubber and a deflection in the shingles.  We had found our source of the leak.  Makes sense anyways, considering I had the roof fully inspected by a 30+ year certified inspector prior to purchasing this $400,000 home built in 2009.  The roof was pretty much brand new.  Low and behold, after SWAT ENVIRONMENTAL cuts a hole in my roof, water leaks in and soaks my drywall ceiling, causing the plaster to fall off and everything.
This is disappointing, but at this point, SWAT could still prove to be a great company and fix their substandard installation.  Or not.  Every time I call this place, someone with an attitude answers the phone.  I don't call in with any attitude either, because I know an irate customer is not going to get treated well.  I explain the whole situation, and am told bluntly.  "You think it's our fault?  I'd like to see these pictures."  The undertone of the conversation is 'we have your money, you have no proof, and we don't care.'
I have emailed the pictures to SWAT 3 times IN THE LAST MONTH and have gotten NO REPLY.  This is not acceptable.
This evening I find the warranty sheet that was left with my wife.  No joke, it releases SWAT from liability from defects in workmanship, damages caused by faulty installation, pretty much everything under the sun.  This company does not stand behind their workmanship, at all.  They don't even attempt to.
Long story short:  SWAT Environmental half-assed a radon mitigation install on my $400,000 home causing $750 in damages, and they this is acceptable business, hilarious in fact.  Now I have to pay more than the Radon system cost to repair my home from their lack of competence.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

The installation contractor came on time on the correct date and was very punctual.  He did seem to be in a hurry though and said he did not have the part needed to finish the job and would come back later to do it.  As the house was vacant, I assumed the work was complete when the invoice arrived so we paid the bill.Six months later, my electrician notices that my radon mitigation system is not operable and isn't even vented through the roof at all.  So I contact Swat and ask them to come out asap.  I have to wait two weeks to get the contractor to come out.  Then he explains that he forgot to finish it!  He says he will be back out within a day or two to complete it, but never calls me.  I finally complained to the service department and got him to finish the job.  It seems to be working fine now but has been a hassle to work with.

While selling one house and buying another, both homes had high radon levels.  My real estate agent recommended SWAT for our for-sale home and I wasn't disappointed.  Ross was our technician and he did an awesome job!  He was very cautious, considerate and clean.  His attention to detail was great and his workmanship was superior.  Installing the system is very labor intensive and dirty.  Ross cleaned up his mess and left no tracks.  A week later, our radon level tested below the national recommendations.  I used Ross and SWAT at our new home and, while the foundation and system installation was different, his workmanship was not.  I would definitely recommend SWAT and Ross to my neighbors.
