Steve and Kim Scully are masters at customer service. Kim is knowledgeable, courteous, and thorough in understanding when she takes your call. She offers advice and information, and does not employ hard sales techniques. Steve showed up during the time Kim indicated. He was thorough, clean, and explained everything he did. He made a few changes in the system to make it simpler and more efficient. The cost was fair, and when I asked when we should have him come back, he told us not for 5 years. We could not have asked for a better experience.

Great. Our pilot light went out, and wouldn't stay lit when we tried to relight it. Called, talked to Kim (nice lady!), and she scheduled us for 1+ months out. Called a week later (because of a cancellation) and got me right in. Steve came out, diagnosed the problem, replaced the pilot assembly, and cleaned and rebuilt the fireplace. (I don't think it's ever looked as good as it does now.) Steve arrived right on time, knew what he was doing, did the job quickly, and was very neat and clean. Steve's a nice guy, easy to get along with, and (even though I'd never met him before) when he left I felt like I'd made a new friend.

Mr Scully was fabulous. He steadily worked through the problem and realized the structural mistakes which were made by the subs my builder hired to install the fireplace. He showed me every step of the process and helped me to understand the problems facing us. It eventually took restructuring the venting and repairing the gas tubing and the actual layout of the logs, but he got it right. It has worked like a dream for a year now. We finally love our fireplace!

Initially, spoke to Kim on the phone. She was very pleasant to deal with, and assisted me in making an appointment. Unfortunately, it was to be approximately 2 or more weeks, but she said she'd contact me if they had a cancellation. About 2 days later, she did call and I was able to schedule the appointment within a few days. Steve showed up on schedule and was also very pleasant to deal with. He proceeded to dismantle the fireplace, and explained everything he was doing as he went along. He even told me how to do certain tasks by myself next time, in order to save money. He was extremely thorough and professional. When he was done, the fireplace looked like new, and I had peace of mind that it was functioning optimally and safely. I highly recommend Steve for any fireplace issues you may have.

Simply said, the Scully's are great people offering punctual, professional service! We didn't need a part, Steve fixed our existing system. He also cleaned our unit and explained how to use it properly, as we are new to this property. If you are looking for nice, knowledgeable people to repair your fireplace, look no further!

Steve showed up and found that someone had taken off the glass (probably to clean it) and had reinstalled it incorrectly. He also cleaned up the fireplace while there with his vacuum and added some additional embers to the gas fireplace.

Good - Steve was able to replace obsolete parts with newer parts that 2 other companies had refused to do. The job was done on the day promised with a full explanation of what he was doing and why. The old pilot light assembly and the thermo pile were replaced with newer versions.

He replaced the insert , did a fine job. We thought. A few weeks ago we had our carbon monoxide alarm go off while using the fire place, turned it off and aired out the house. Called Scully and had to wait several weeks for service. When I called for service I told Kim there wasn't any glass panel on the fireplace, and never had been. When he came , he refused to service the fire place, accusing us off removing the glass panel that he didn't install. When he installed the unit he asked my husband if he wanted the old glass, he declined. Now we find out the glass that he left at the house when installing the new unit, was the new glass he never installed, which my husband thought was the old piece left behind, so he got rid of it. So I had to buy a new glass at a cost of 896.66. All because he did not install it. The part that really upsets me in that he keep insisting that we removed the glass. We never had glass in it ,and are lucky we had a monoxide alarm in the house. He was also very angry at us because he made a mistake. I usually don't write reviews like this, but I really got upset. If the glass was installed we would never remove it. Why would anybody?
Response from STEVE SCULLY FIREPLACE REPAIR, LLC
"The homeowner was scheduled for service the week after calling to report a recent bad smell from her fireplace and elevated carbon monoxide levels. The glass panel was missing from the direct-vent fireplace that had been installed over two years ago. All direct-vents are sealed, using a ventilation system designed to pull outside air in for combustion and exhaust combusted gas. They require and include a fixed glass panel. Gas fumes will spill inside the home if the panel is not on securely. Additionally, cold outside air would also flow inside the house without the glass in place. This would occur immediately, not two years after. It was apparent the decorative screen front had been removed and painted, so it would be reasonable to assume the glass was removed to be cleaned. The homeowner initially thought they never had the glass. However, her husband thought he had it inside his garage, but was unable to locate it. Since the fireplace is unsafe to use, it was not serviced and they were not charged for the appointment. They were instructed to order a new glass panel and promptly provided the part number to do so. As far as we know, they ordered the glass through the same company who sold them their fireplace and certainly have no control over the cost. The homeowner did not appear to be upset or angry, so we were surprised to read the comments posted and needed to address the inaccuracies."

The gas fireplace in my rental house wasn't working when the tenant tried to use it. I did some minor troubleshooting but was not comfortable doing any major work since I have no experience with gas devices. I called Steve who came recommended and his wife gave me some things to try as he couldn't fit me into his schedule for a few weeks. I tried her suggestions but still not working. I called another vendor, Mowery, who could schedule right away. The repairman seemed to not have a clue what he was doing and after a long while told me that the gas valve was bad. I am an electronics engineer so the amount of time he spent just trying to set his volt meter to the correct setting was troubling. This repairman gave me an estimate of $1072.50 to replace the gas valve and if I bought a service agreement for $226 the part price would only be $860!! Well I didn't trust his troubleshooting and I knew the part couldn't be that expensive. I looked it up online and I could buy the part $250. So I called Steve Scully again and explained all this to his wife. She doubted that the valve was bad but gave me another source for the part that would be cheaper. Her husband called me later and told me what to look for voltages and other tips. Today my and husband and I were able to get it going using his information. It is good to see that there are trustworthy, capable people in a field where I have found more of the opposite.

All went very well. I thought the price was high as he was at the house less than an hour and the part cost less than $50. We were charged $174.

It is a two-sided fireplace. One of the sides did not have glass doors on it. Scully's installed the doors in 2009. They are very pleasant to work with. They had a hard time finding my records, as it had been over 5 years since I last used them. They were persistent and found my records. They found out what type of doors I needed and were very helpful in ordering them. They installer was very good and quick and cleaned up after himself. He even shined the glass with windex when he was finished.
