Steve does good work when he works, but having to work with him was difficult. Initially, he gave us a professional proposal and an approximate time of completion. Naturally we assumed he knew what all he had to do to accomplish what he said he could. He started sometime in mid April and said it shouldn't take more than four or five months to complete. Such was not the case, and for far too long we lived in absolute chaos, boxes and dust, given what we were having done. We did have nearly a month's delay from mid-June to mid-July due to arbitration with the insurance company for a new roof. Nevertheless, structurally there were no changes made to the house to cause the project to go on as long as it did. Rather than take responsibility for his lack of diligence in getting the job done on a timely basis, he blames the delay on the roof situation and us for small changes we asked for. Had we known what we now know, we would not have been so lenient, let alone agree to the different weeks we allowed him to take off for a vacation and some personal matters. He also took many sick days and never once did we say anything about it, we trusted what he said and the fact that he knew what it was he had to do and that he would do right by us. We weren't always around to supervise, and often contended with rather poor excuses for work not done. Time and again he would assure us that certain things would be completed by a certain date, but then they weren't, and four times we had to postpone and reschedule the installation of our flooring. If we had to do it over, we would request a full day's work, a schedule of completion for the different parts of the job, as well as receipts for supplies. We had a deadline, yet by the end of October there was still much to be done, leaving us no choice but to hire someone else to do the work we had already paid Steve to do. Up until the week we were to leave for our Christmas holiday, we were scrambling to have some semblance of order to come home to. Additionally, Steve was defensive when we asked him questions or made suggestions. His anger and curt attitude was a drain that made it uncomfortable as well as straining our ability to work together. I think he forgets that the person paying him is the real boss. We trusted him, but we were sorely let down.

Steve showed up on time. Covered all my flooring with drop cloths before starting to work. He tapped off the plumbing, tore out the cabinetry and repaired the wainscoting and drywall. Can't even tell that there had been a bar there before. He hauled off all the debris and cleaned up before he left. He was very professional. I plan on using him again.

He's just wonderful. We're also using him to finish my mother's basement and would recommend him. He is professional and trustworthy.
