Spotts Garden Service

Terry Spotts, the owner and Principal of Spotts Garden Service, received my first phone call and we discussed the match between my needs and his company's mission, experience, and expertise in Gardening. Given that there are relatively few true Gardening companies in Indy, I was so pleased to see a perfect match. Terry visited our home and we walked around and discussed what needed to be done in detail. He was most professional, informative and friendly. Terry gave me a lot of advice, particularly on the new tree selection and appropriate locations. Terry forwarded my Proposal with the work detailed with individual costs, so that I could size the project. After my choices, Terry forwarded a final proposal. Before the work was done, Terry took soil samples, and had his insurance Certificate forwarded as I had requested. Terry arrived on the scheduled day with his team of Tom and Marie. Perennial gardens were weeded and mulched (see 'After' picture), new trees and shrubs planted, many tree rings dug and mulched, and rock beds repaired with textile and weeded. Also, new trees were prepped, watered, and staked where needed, garden debris recycled, and the work areas cleaned with care. Previously, Amy, back as Spotts' company home on Indy's Michigan Pl. had searched and sourced the tree types and varieties I had chosen. I was particularly impressed that Terry and his team sought to do things in an environmentally friendly manner. I am thrilled to have found Spotts Garden Service for my future years' flower bed, bush and tree care. Thank you Spotts!

Overall, it was great to work with Terry and Amy. I met with Terry to look over this project and one other (spring garden clean up) and he kindly provided two estimates. Only one project was in my budget this year, so I went with the more invasive ivy, but would love to have Spotts come back for the rest once my wallet recovers.
My only criticism though was that it took a long time to get the estimates and then to schedule the work. The initial meeting was in late March and the work was completed on June 11. However, I had a good feeling about Terry from the start and was willing to wait.
It's also been fun to follow their Facebook page - I'm getting some ideas!

They do work for me periodically all the time.  They are just the best people to work with.  I can't even say how great they are.  I didn't find them on Angie's List.  The people who own it live in my area so I know them.  They are fairly small but they are incredibly good in terms of the manner of work they get done in a short period of time.  They are very environmentally conscious.  They are very good at whatever your goals are for the garden.  Mine have been to do perennials and things that are good for birds and butterflies.  They are really good about working with you on meeting your goals.  I think they are very reasonably priced.  They just do excellent work.  I plan to use them again in the future.

My garden is gorgeous.  They start in March and they go all the way up to the end of the summer year.  The first clean up usually has an extra person and an extra hour.  They are very punctual when they tell me they are going to be here they are here.  I will continue to use them in the future.  They will be back next summer.

Spotts did a beautful job at both designing and installing the garden.  They listened to my preferences and matched the garden with the amount of time I could spend on gardening and the types of plants and color palette that I wanted.  They installed a path through the garden with wonderful natural stone.  The plants they installed were very healthy and I was instructed how to care for them.  Spotts gave me a 'book' about my garden with descriptions of each plant and the care that each needs over time.  The results are gorgeous and we have a new place to sit.  This garden has certainly added to our curb appeal and the whole process was great.

We have a number of flower/plant beds in our large backyard as well as beds on the side and in the front. Despite our diligence all summer, they all looked pretty bedraggled from the heat, draught and being the end of the season. Amy and Amy from Spotts were excellent! They made the beds look great. They even loaned us a number of beautiful metal accessories (trellises, candle holders,etc.) and several large potted plants to add decor for the wedding reception. We had many compliments on how beautiful the yard looked from our guests.

They are wonderful. It's a family business. They're very punctual, finish each job thoroughly, are very fair priced, they stick to their schedule and are great to work with.
