"Our licensed Professional Engineer provided the services requested by our client in a professional manner in accordance with accepted industry standards. The client signed a Fee Agreement for a fixed fee of $600. The services requested by the client and listed in the Fee Agreement included: 1) making a site visit to make observations and take measurements; 2) identifying deficiencies and providing general recommendations for repair, as required; and 3) preparing a sealed written report. Our engineer visited the site on April 27, 2016 (not March 2nd as the client indicated), made observations, took photos for the written report, and then verbally conveyed his opinion and recommendations to the client. At that point, the client said he did not want a written report. Although we had a signed fee agreement for $600, the client was only billed for the actual amount of time spent on the project, including travel time for the site visit. The total billed was $225 (not $150, as the client indicated). We are sorry to hear that our clients are dissatisfied with the services that we provided, including the cost. However, we provided a professional opinion and recommendation as they requested and billed them for the time spent on the project at a rate provided in the signed Fee Agreement and consistent with accepted industry standards."
Steve Kessinger (Owner) was out for 48 min. He arrived at 0900 for the appointment and left at 0948. Silver Creeks agreement is 165/hr including all local drive time, drafting etc. Not to exceed 795.00. I AM BEING BILLED FOR THE MAXIMUM TIME. At best 2 hrs went into looking at the foundation including drive time, printing the 6 photos he took while at the home. When I called to dispute these charges David who setup the appointment tried to explain in a circle the price... there was even a 135.00 charge for him to write down the address and set the appointment.... I guess if you offer work to them they start billing you immediately. Terrible experience, I hope companies that operate like this close their doors.
"Mr. [member name removed] approached Silver Creek Engineering to render structural engineering services for a house he was planning to buy. After discussing his needs with David Clark, a licensed Professional Engineer, it was determined, based on years of residential experience, that the services requested would cost approximately $795.00. A proposal describing the services in detail and the fee (hourly, not to exceed the total estimated cost of $795.00) was reviewed and signed by Mr. [member name removed] . Steven Kessinger, a Founder and Principal of Silver Creek, as well as a licensed Professional and Structural Engineer, traveled to the job site, made observations at the job site, traveled back to the office and rendered a report based on his findings. David Clark checked the report before it was sealed, which is company policy to ensure a high quality report is issued. The invoice sent to Mr. [member name removed] showed that the services required 4 hours of Steve’s time and 1 hour of David’s time. These hours were checked and verified by our standard practice of going through three separate departments within the company, prior to invoicing, to ensure accuracy. At no point was Mr. [member name removed], or is any other Silver Creek client, billed for hidden fees or frivolous charges. Mr. [member name removed] received the services he requested for the price he agreed upon."
