Royal Asphalt Paving

I called Mike Houks October 13 and left a message that I was requesting a quotation.  Mr. Houks returned my call that evening. I explained that the alley behind our house had sunk below the driveway and that I needed a 2-1/2' x 30' asphalt apron from the drive to the alley to help transition between the alley and drive.  He said he would look at what we needed within a couple of days and call back.  He called October 15 and gave me a price of $1,160.00.  I gave him the okay and asked when he could do the work and and he ssid as soon as the weather cooperated.  Friday evening, October 17 we returned from shopping around 8:00 pm and Mr. Houks was busy working on the drive.  I was quite impressed that he working that late.  He did a excellent job and I would highly recommend Royal Asphalt.

He came out and gave us a quote on the job on the spot after discussing the issues. He returned to do the job on the first day we suggested. He and his assistant completed the job in a very professional manner. He offered to return and heighten the curbing in areas that might need it. The first heavy rain test this morning was successful.

Mike Hooks was professional and polite.  He returned calls promptly and came out to do the estimate and the work when promised.  He and his crew worked hard and the finished product looks very nice.

He did a great job. He even came back and did another area for me that wasn't included in the quoted rate at no extra charge.

We needed to have the work performed quickly and Mike was able to give an estimate the day after I called and started work immediately.  His price was in the middle of our estimates and he gave a very thorough description of what he would do to repair the area in question which made me feel very comfortable about the outcome.  He repaired the area that had been damaged by the tree and removed extra asphalt to create a smooth level surface where roots had caused it to become very uneven.   We are very happy and would use him Royal Asphalt for future needs.

When the next storm came, the holes were back. They didn't do everything they said they would on the contract.

I spent $250 on that service.  The job went fine.  They were extremely friendly.

Although this was not the cheapest price quoted by three estimates, we felt most comfortable with Mr. Hook's ability to do the job in the best way. He presented in a professional manner and did the job well. It required coming on 2 different days, since the repairs had to 'set up' before being sealcoated. He took care to be sure the weather was not going to adversely affect the repairs, and planned his return accordingly. We have no doubt that he will stand by his product and we plan to do business with him again.

I've used this company the first time three years ago. I used them again without hesitation this year. Not only Michael is just a terrific person to deal with, but the quality of his work is outstanding!

I spoke with Mike and he came out and measures the area and got me a quote the next day. We agreed to proceed and the next day his group was here doing some prep work. The next day his group was here and working. My old concrete drive was a mess, it was at least five different levels and cracked all over. They came in and worked all day and it looks amazing. I could not be happier with the outcome and couldn't be more pleased with the way the entire project went. Mike and Royal Paving were honest, friendly and very professional.

I would highly recommend this company. Mike Hooks (owner) came out the day I e-mailed him requesting a quote. He then completed the job within 4 days of me telling him that we wanted to use his company for the job. His crew came and completed the job on a holiday weekend and they did a fabulous job. Mike is extremely professional, responsive, and a very nice guy! Very good experience from start to finish.

They did an excellent job. Quality wise it's the best I've ever had. I got 3 other names from Angie's List. They weren't the cheapest, but were on the low side for the quotes I received. They did an outstanding job. They were professional and prompt in returning phone calls. I would absolutely hire them again, in fact in another three years I will.

I called for an estimate and heard from Mike about 2 days later. The estimate was about $100 less than our other estimate and I was able to meet Mike in person (I happened to come home when he was putting together an estimate) and could tell he knew driveways and he was a super nice guy. He was able to do the work about one week later. We have a fairly large driveway and he and his team finished it in one afternoon. We live in a wooded area with lots of trees and when I came home they were still drying it so as to keep the falling leaves from getting into the asphalt - a level of care I appreciate. We were a bit concerned about a couple of cracks and Mike came back the next morning and filled them in without charging extra or complaining at all. He left the area clean and even put a cone at the front of our driveway for the first 24 hours to assure no one accidentally turned around in our driveway - again an example of a company actually caring! We are new homeowners and are happy to have found a permanent driveway company in our area and will definitely use Royal Asphalt in the future.

Mike was very professional in all he did. I was really impressed by how soon he returned my phone calls and did the job in record time. He was very careful in filling all the cracks and spent a lot of time filling the holes in the asphalt. He then spread all the seal coat and did an excellent job in covering everything without damaging anything. He even tied up an evergreen tree that overhung the driveway. I got more than my money's worth. I was VERY impressed by his job and his friendliness.

Mr. Hooks arrived at the time designated. Answered my questions and gave me an estimate. He called to give me a time to do the work and he arrived within the designated time. All work was completed as agreed. After reviewing the finished product, I had a couple places I felt could use some additional filler. I contacted Mr. Hooks, he returned the next day and completed the work to my satisfaction. I must comment on his courteous and friendly attitude. This is a family run operation and just a pleasure to work with. It is very important to them that you are satisfied.

Mike appeared on time. He had two helpers. They cleaned and edged the driveway first. Then with a special machine he filled the cracks with hot rubber crack filler (commercial grade). At first the driveway looked funny as the filler was shiny and we did not contract to have the driveway sealed at the same time. But after a few weeks, the shiny filler is not noticeable and we are very pleased with its appearance. Mike has done work for us for many years and has never recommended work be done unless he felt it was necessary. We trust his advice and are very pleased with our relationship with his company. We plan to have him seal our driveway next year.

I can't say enough of the outstanding service I received from Royal Asphalt. They are just great folks, and they really treat you like royalty. Mike and his crew are very knowledgeable, do awesome work, and pay attention to the smallest detail.

HE WAS EXCELLENT AND REMOVED THE ASPHALT IN THE POURING RAIN. HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND IT WAS A GREAT PROJECT OVERALL. THE PRICE WAS EXCELLENT FOR THE WORK THEY HAD TO DO IN THE RAIN.
