Last month we hired Rocklane Co. General Contractors to replace our roof and gutters, and to install new gutter guards. From the first visit to begin the quote process to the final inspection of the completed work, our experience with Rocklane was nothing short of exemplary. Let me start by sharing that I am a very particular homeowner. I am also an avid and capable DIYer since I’ve had too many experiences with disappointing contractors and unprofessional work. Consequently, I have learned to do plenty of research in advance and to carefully vet prospective contractors before I am willing to hire anyone. When Kevin Kortzendorf came to our home to conduct the site visit and provide our quote, I literally had four pages of questions ready for him. Kevin carefully, and in detail, described exactly how Rocklane would replace our roof and gutters, and install our new gutter guards. He also listened, and responded, very patiently as I asked my many questions and expressed my concerns about the materials and work practices that would be used throughout the project. I had Kevin return two more times for more questions, explanations, and clarifications before we decided to hire his company. By the way, Rocklane was just one of several contractors that we “interviewed” prior to making our hiring decision. At the conclusion of our vetting process, it was clear to us that Rocklane employed only industry best-practices in its work, and would not cut any corners on our project. And we never once felt pressured or hurried by Kevin throughout that process. Mike Cobb, our project supervisor, was present the entire time while our roof and gutters were being replaced. He was always fully engaged - up on the roof, around back, down the sides, out in front - watching all the details of the work being done, and giving instructions as necessary to ensure that Rocklane’s, and my, standards were being fully met. They covered all of our flower beds, landscaping areas, garage doors, and windows, and went the extra mile to erect a wooden “tent” over our newly installed air conditioner compressor unit to ensure it would not be damaged at all. They also completed a very thorough clean-up at the end of every workday. The work was very well done, and the new roof and gutters look great! I was particularly impressed by how careful and thorough Rocklane was regarding replacement of all the siding and wood trim that had to be removed to install the new flashing where the vertical walls and roofline meet. In fact, when Rocklane finished replacing the vinyl siding, it actually looked better than when the house was first built. I can’t overstate how pleased we are, especially for Mike Cobb’s careful oversight and detailed post-project follow-up. I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to recommend Rocklane Co. General Contractors, and Kevin and Mike, to anyone. I would hire them again without hesitation!

PERFECT experience. Greg provided exceptional customer service, gave us good information from the initial assessment, bid, contacting, construction, clean-up. Greg went the super-extra mile to find some "hard to find" Class 4 rated roof tile that we wanted. He bid, sold, and managed the job himself. He was and monitoring the team and keeping us informed along the way. The team was efficient and no damage to house or yard in the process. Done in 1 1/2 days. And, they were the best price of the three GAF & OwensCorning Elite / Preferred Certified contractors from whom we received a bid. Gutter project managed by an excellent team who helped us with improving water flow off the roof and very professional install. We have had our first hard rain - no leaks!

Kevin from Rocklane came out and we walked the roof together and he pointed out what was wrong and what they would do to fix it.  He was on time, courteous and professional.  This particular area of roof was kind of shaped like half a hexagon, which would have step flashing down the sides.  Kevin took some photos and in short order actually gave me a two part quote, the first part to put in new counter flashing which would have to be ground into the mortar lines, install a new ice and water barrier, and put new shingles in the area butting up to the flashing.  He also saw that the step flashing was incorrectly installed.  In our situation it made no sense to put a good repair on top of a bad one.  We therefore decided to go with the greater work project scope and also have Rocklane re-flash and shingle the step walls.

The job was completed in a matter of days and looks great.  No further water issues.  We actually had another roof issue at the time, but I wanted to see how this job went before I mentioned the second area.  I called Kevin out again and he gave me a quote to fix the second area.  When we finally got to around to fixing the second problem area of the roof in July, I called Kevin, but unfortunately for me this was the peak of roofing season and all their crews were booked solid for the next few months.  As this second flashing repair was part of a larger project with other types of contractors, I ended up getting a different contractor to do that second flashing job.  One thing I would say is that I didn't know the model and color code for the shingles which Rocklane had matched during the first part of the roof job.  I called Kevin and told him I was trying to figure out the shingle color for the new contractor and he sent me a text message soon thereafter with the information.  I was very impressed that they would continue to go out of their way to be helpful, especially when they are not involved in the job.

Can't say enough good things about this company and the people I got the opportunity to deal with from it.  They will be my first "go to" roof guys from now on.

Rocklane did an outstanding job.  Their crews were prompt, polite and very professional.  They took extra care to take care of the landscaping and the cleanup afterwards.  Jay Burkert was excellent to work with...he was very involved in the whole process and was onsite each day while the work was being completed.  We would recommend Jay and Rocklane very highly.

They crew was excellent!  They worked diligently and kept the areas cleaned up at all times.  We have been able to recommend Rocklane Roofing to many of our friends and family and everyone has been extremely pleased.  I suggest you speak to a true professional company that offers competitive pricing.  The storm chasers with one truck and a homemade business card are VERY SCARY!  Tell Rock Lane Roofing that Ron Rose recommended them.

Verry happy with the work done by Rocklane, the gutters look great.  The gutter guards work great and have kept my gutters clean.  The crew didn't leave any scraps behind and were done in less than a day.

The roof on our home and many others in Plainfield and Avon were damaged by a series of hail storms requiring millions of dollars in repairs in the area. Several companies gave us estimates and we chose Rocklane, a company also recommended by our insurance agent. Even though very busy, Rocklane's rep Justin responded immediately, inspected on the roof, gave a written estimate. He was present and answered questions when the State Farm adjuster inspected and approved payment of the claim. Within days, Rocklane had a full crew of roofers to remove the old shingles, install a water shield layer, then new shingles, flashing, roof vents. A second crew came with new gutters, downspouts and chimney cap. Everyone was professional, skilled and very quick to respond to any questions or concerns. They handled all the paperwork and photos for the insurance claim and bank. Great job!

Proposal was thorough, detailed and professional.  Roofing crew was highly skilled.  Cleanup was excellent.

They had to replace our Cedar Shake roof and convert it to a regular roof. They were very professional and knowledgeable.

I could not ask for a more professional company to do the work I needed.  Randy Adkins made sure that everything was well coordinated and everything was taken care of.  I did not have to remind him of details he had agreed to or items that might easily have been forgotten.  Randy managed the project from start to finish and provided us with excellent work results through his crew of workers.  They were on time, worked quickly and cleaned up everything.  They fixed various items that were not part of the original work, .....small items, but items that needed attention.  Overall, Rocklane provided work that was the ideal of what I would expect from a first rate business.

It went well.  The job was done when it was scheduled.  Workers were careful and professional.  All debris was cleaned up at the end of the job.  Each job, roof and gutters was done in a single day--two different jobs on two different days.  Any follow up concerns and questions were taken care of promptly. 
The company was not always in agreement with my insurance company's ideas and cost analysis. 
Rocklane had put our prior roof on the house in 1996 and we were pleased with it.

See above.  All appointments and jobs were completed as scheduled. Work was done as specified.

UPDATE: I moved to Carmel in 2013 and got hit by the big hail storm in the new house. Their independent quote was within $1000 of the number provided by the adjuster. Jay is probably busier than a squirrel right now but still made time to visit the new house and submit a very competitive bid. Knowing their quality, I am going to pay the extra money out of my pocket just so I can get these guys. I plan on staying in my current house a long time and I would not dream of letting a lesser roofing company touch it with a 20 foot ladder - pun intended.
My experience has been awesome.  I am going to come back and write detailed review with pictures on this one. Until I have more time, here is a quick summary:
(1) Jay Burkert is a real stand up guy running a great roofing company.
(2) Quality compared to other's I have seen is simply the best for the money.
(3) They don't rush, but you might have to wait a while if you want them.
(4) Big storms mean big demand - trust me that they are worth waiting for. If you are not leaking, just wait for Rocklane to become available.
(5) Went from flat three tab to beautiful architectural roof. Roof system kicked up the look of my house like I put new windows or something. Really - the house is first one as you come into neighborhood and one of the first things you notice is how pretty the roof looks.
(6) They did such a good job I thought they were doing their own house. That is the kind of treatment I could get used to.

Jay came and provided an estimate and although it took several phone calls to get a response, once he responded, we had a crew out quickly and the job was completed, cleaned up, and they did an excellent job!

I had used Rocklane, after a personal reference, in 2011 for a new roof.  They did an excellent job on the roof.  I called them to install a new vent cover and soffitt vents.  I highly recommend Rocklane.  Kevin is tremendous to work with!!

We had horrible problems with condensation in our attic when the house was first built.  The builder came out and simply decided that the roof just needed more vents.  Turns out they were wrong.  After years of trying different roofing/insulation companies, we finally heard about Rocklane through one of our other contractors and were thrilled to finally find someone who understood proper air circulation in attic spaces.  Kevin came out and was the first person to go up into the attic and actually GO into the attic - as in crawl above our vaulted ceiling, look in the soffits, etc.  Everybody else prior basically popped their head up looked around and came up with a grand reason on the spot what the problem was (and they were wrong).  Kevin determined what intake we should have to exhaust, and that we had a lot of soffit blockage.  He took care of it wonderfully  That was a number of years ago, but then we just had a recent storm that was apparently just right for fine snow to blow in through many of our box vents (quite possibly because of the wind direction even causing them to become direct intakes) and we ended up with *piles* of snow under most of our vents.
After insurance cleaned up the mess we talked to Kevin again and he pointed out that, honestly, the location of the vents, type of vents, direction of the house, etc. really just meant that sometimes this may happen (it's happened to us twice in 12 years).  He offered a number of solutions to us with a ridge vent being one of them.  He certainly didn't push it and just wanted to make sure we knew what our options might be and the different costs.  When we pressed about the ridge vent though he was quite certain it would help our situation and it basically should never happen again.  Once we got a quote and based on our prior experiences with him it was basically a no-brainer.  I wasn't here to see the work but my wife was and she said the (fairly significant) work was done quickly and efficiently and even though our roof is 13 years old you can't really even see where the brand new work was done.  Huge sections of roof on the north side of our house was replaced as we had TONS of box vents.

He was really prompt about sending someone out the same day to take care of the issue. They were willing to follow up on stuff even though it was a job they worked on a few years ago. They honored the warranty.

My experience had been excellent. They do great work. They are very conscientious and I have never heard of any complaints.

Everything went great. They came when they said they would. The bulk of the job was completed in one day. Everything was clean when they left. Very pleased with their service.

They did both roofs in the same day and did a great job.  All the trash was picked up including the nails.  We only found a few very small items afterwards. On the gutters, they had to come back twice to fix it after we inspected it.  That part wasn't the greatest that it took twice but once we called the estimator\job head, they fixed it very quickly and without arguments.  We would definitely hire these guys again.
