It went exceptionally well. The installation was done in a high quality manner. The installer was quality focused, knowledgeable, professional and easy to work with. We are builders and well versed on hardwood installation and we would highly recommend this company.

Our house was built in 1927 and has quartersawn oak hardwood floor.  Originally it had radiator heat, later converted to forced air, so there were holes where the radiator pipes were.  Glen patched all those holes and a few other bad spots, sanded the floor, and applied polyurethane.  Since this was our entire first floor (except the kitchen and bath), Glen worked with us to do it in 2 phases so we didn't have to move the furniture out and store it.
It looks so much nicer now.  There are still dings and marks from abuse by previous owners, but Glen made sure we understood he couldn't remove all of them.  He actually got rid of more than we expected.
Dust was kept to a minimum by the use of plastic.  It was a very positive experience.

Refinished approximately 1500 SF of living area throughout our house including the stairwell, bedrooms, closets, etc. The floors were the original oak floors from 1940 that had seen better days. There was discoloration throughout due to wear and tear including pet stains. my wife and I bought the home in December 2012 and asked Glenn to refinish the floors. He did a great job and was very flexible with us as we were busy working on other projects throughout the month. The floors look great and we will definitely be using Glenn again.

Glen was awesome!  We were very pleased with his work.  He took his time and did things right.  He was very good at communicating with us and always returned calls in a timely manner.  He explained the process thoroughly.  He does oil based finish which has a MUCH stronger odor and we were out of the house longer than when we did the water based but he explained why it was so much better to use oil based vs. water based and after we saw the results, we couldn't agree more.  We had our bedrooms done a couple of years ago in water based and you can really tell the difference.  A much richer, and stronger finish.  What we were most pleased with was the trim work he did around our fireplace.  With it being slate tile, there were a lot of uneven areas to cover and he worked SUPER hard to make it look good.  Actually, good is an understatement.  The trim looks fantastic.  He really took his time with that and made it as perfect as it could be.  He was incredibly nice and easy to talk to. I trusted him right away.  I would (and already have) highly recommend Quality Hardwood.  I wish I would have used him when we did our bedrooms.  His work is far superior to the other company we used in those rooms.

Strongly recommend Quality Hardwoods for hardwood flooring installation!  Glen was prompt, professional, and detailed from start to finish.  Glen hurt his shoulder shortly before starting our project, but found another person to help him with the tasks so that we could move forward with the work.  We will definitely call him for future projects and recommending his services to our friends and family.

It was not a good experience.  He estimated it would take 3-4 days from start to finish; it took him 7 and he didn't even complete the job.  Because the hardwoods included virtually the entire main floor of our house, we had to live somewhere else during this period. The staining was very uneven, and he only finished a single coat of polyurethane although his quote included 2 coats. The floor looked bad, but if I had not questioned the unevenness of the finish and refused to pay the remainder of what we owed, he would have considered the job done.  He agreed to do the second coat of polyurethane, but said it would be 3 or so weeks before he could get to it.  Bear in mind that we had to move all of our furniture out of the area during the refinishing, so we either had to move all of the furniture twice or have an unlivable house until he finished the job.  He was not at all concerned about the inconvenience to us - merely provided a laundry list of excuses.  We ended up hiring someone else to do the second coat of polyurethane.  The price to Quality Hardwoods was adjusted, but we still paid more in total than we would have. And his price was certainly not the cheapest - it was right in the middle of all of the quotes we received.
Finally, the dust and mess was horrendous.  After he left we had to empty every cabinet in our kitchen and wash everything; we threw away much of the food in our pantry, and had to wash all of our woodwork and walls, even upstairs where no refinishing was done.
Response from QUALITY HARDWOODS
"this is a nice "story", but the truth is i started job may 11 and told (deleted member name) it would take until the 15th unless there was an issue. unfortunately, i had an accident and broke my shoulder blade on may 12. i worked as much as i could over the next 4 days, called in every favor i could, and still completed job by the 16th. on monday may 13, i contacted homeowner and informed (deleted member name) i had broke my shoulder blade and would get job done asap, but not by the 15th. the homeowners had already made arrangements to stay at there lake house for the week while the floor was being refinished. When (deleted member name) and I inspected floor, i agreed that the product was not acceptable and immediately offered, in writing, a free coat of polyurethane as soon as i healed. that was unacceptable to (deleted member name). i even went back to show their realtor, whom i still work with, that it only needed another coat of poly. i put a third coat on in the powder room as an example, and never heard anything back, positive or negative. the (deleted member name) had a prefinished maple floor and wanted it sanded and refinished with stain, and to save money, 2 coats of polyurethane. when i first looked at floor, i made it very clear that the floor would never look the same again. you cannot duplicate a factory finish on a job site. so before they left for the week to their lakehouse, (deleted member name) saw a sample on the floor, then approved to continue. after many warnings about major changes in floor after sanding and approving a sample, they decide they don't like the finished product...all it needed was a third coat of polyurethane. even the realtor said that other flooring companies were brought in and all said it only needed another coat of poly. as a individual business owner, i'm not happy that i couldn't complete job on time. the first time ever, and it took a broken shoulder blade to miss a deadline by 1 day. i also learned that you can't water a maple floor and only use 2 coats of polyurethane. a lesson learned, but the millers were informed that the existing maple would not accept stain and hed to be watered. unfortunately, it caused major issues. the amount of dust was no where near what (deleted member name) described. the house was cleaned and protective plastic was hung throughout the house during the process. the bottom line is the job was completed per contract, and i even offered free work to make final product look acceptable."

We paid separately for the floors.  We didn’t get them through them.  They just installed it.  They were good.  We were happy with them.

He promptly responded to contact and arrived within 24 hours to provide an estimate.  Since some of the hardwood floor had to be replaced, he searched for matching wood and made sure it would blend into the exiting hardwood.  He removed the furniture from the room, replaced the wood and sanded the area and refinished the floor.  He put up plastic barriers at the doorways to protect other areas from the dust.  After the floor was completely dry, he returned to remove the plastic and returned the furniture to the room.   The work, from start to finish, was completed in 5 days.  He always notified me when he was going to need to access my home and worked within my availability .

He showed up when he said he would and finished the job on time. He even stayed up until 1AM to finish the job so that we could move in on time. I will have him back to do our upstairs.

Glen was very helpful and mindful of our budget. He was always punctual. He answered all our questions. The installation was done quickly and executed very well and although we weren't satisfied with one minor detail at the end (the transition piece between the main hallway and a bedroom), Glen had no problem coming back to fix it at no extra cost.
