The fact that the store was open till 1 AM was great, and how professional all the tech's were was refreshing. They did an excellent job doing the routine maintenance, and went above & beyond taking care of my needs.

Took our RV to PFM in Indy and they performed a brake "diagnostic evaluation" and then they gave me an estimate of over 5K for fixing front brakes on 2001 Monaco Knight. Said they would have this estimate in 2-1/2 working days and it took 13 days. Estimate was for two master cylinders at 961.00 ea plus 374.00 labor to install the calipers. Two calipers at 427.00 ea. Four pads at 75.00 ea. Two seals at 117.00 each. Two rotors at 192.00 ea. plus 499.00 for labor to install the brakes. Freight 187.00. RV may have needed these things, but price was absurd!
I called the PFM service writer and asked for the brand names and part numbers of the brake parts they were planning on installing and he refused to give me this information. I then explained about a NHTSA brake recall and said I wanted to be sure and not put "bad" brakes back onto the RV. He said he didn't know anything about a recall and again said it was against PFM policy to give out brand and part number info. I said "so you want me to pay over 5,000 for brake parts and installation and you won't tell me the part brand names or numbers. He said PFM wouldn't even put that information on my invoice! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?
I said no thanks and I would take the coach elsewhere. He said I owed them 2 hours "diagnostic time" for a total of $249.42. I paid the invoice and left. This all took place at PFM Care and Truck Care Center on Hanna Ave in Indianapolis, IN. I feel they kept my RV for 13 days and charged me $249.42 for nothing.
Response from PFM TRUCK & CAR CARE CENTER
"The customer was given an estimate to disassemble, inspect the vehicle, evaluate and estimate the needed repairs. The charge for this was less than the amount approved. There was a delay in getting to his vehicle due to a heavier than normal load. The customer was advised that there would be delays prior to leaving his vehicle. Parts prices were delayed to us, Monaco, the vehicle manufacturer, was the supplier and they would not respond to us in a timely manner. Customer was advised of this situation. The customer was not happy that his motor home was going to require a lot of work and was part of a manufacture's recall. He stated that he wished he never would have bought the vehicle. PFM was upfront with everything we did and kept the customer fully involved. Unfortunately the customer was not happy with the situation and the vehicle despite our efforts to service him in a profession and caring manner."

I had an employee of mine take a truck in to have the oil changed (normally $180). They recommended a fuel filter to be done. My employee agreed. When he comes back to pick up the truck, he got a $430 bill for an oil change and fuel filter. I called them to have them justify the price. They told me that they could not get the mobile 1 oil, and instead had to go with a more expensive oil. He said he didn't notice it until the oil was already changed. He did not make any effort to remedy the situation.

Update..... After leaving this report I called PFM's main office and left a message. Within a day the owner Dave returned my call and he looked into the situation and agreed that it was not handled correctly.  He reimbursed me $75, the difference in cost of the oil I wanted and the oil they gave me.  My employee who was present at the time of the oil change was not given the choice to decide on accepting that oil they gave me.  Dave did what he felt was right and that is appreciated.  I do still have an oil in my truck that is not what I would prefer.Nick LyonLyon Glass Block, LLC
Response from PFM TRUCK & CAR CARE CENTER
"This post was found after the resolution of this situation. The oil that the customer requested was not available. A more expensive alternative was used. The customer's driver did not object to the price. The owner called in, to complain that more expensive oil was used. The customer was promptly refunded the difference in price of the two oil. We regret that our communication with the driver and vehicle owner was not better at the time of the service, steps have been taken to avoid similar issues from reoccurring. We apologize for his inconvenience."

I first contacted this company over the previous weekend and received only a number of automated replies until the owner/president emailed me on Monday  to see if I had been contacted by his staff. When I indicated I had not, he immediately arranged that and I had an appointment set up for Wednesday.

Once I arrived, I was treated curiously, professionally, and promptly. They checked out the vehicle and confirmed that the outer tires would have to be pulled to do the work and let me know (as I expected) that there would be a nominal for that work. At my specific request we discussed the addition of proper valves and extensions so that pulling wheels would not be necessary in the future. Because of my limited time that day, we scheduled that work for a subsequent appointment.

I look forward to working with this company in the future.
