The actual tear out of the damaged areas and the mold remediation went fairly well, although the communication during the process was not great. For the restoration portion, it was definitely a less than average experience. Their estimate for the restoration work was high based on some comparisons I did, so I only decided to use them for the drywall and cabinet replacement (for the flooring, I chose a different contractor). The subcontractor that was used by Paul Davis Restoration was unreliable and not punctual. There were 4-5 different occasions when he said he would show up, but did not. Then he would contact me and reschedule, only to not show up at the rescheduled time. He was good at providing excuses, which came off as very unprofessional. This went on for a period of over 4 weeks - for a job that realistically could have been done in a matter of days. He never did show up to remove some of the trash and material left over from the job - I ended up having to caul Paul Davis Restoration directly, and they sent someone to finally take away the trash. I suppose the quality of the work was average, but you could tell the that subcontractor was just trying to do the minimum required. To be clear, most of my dissatisfaction was with the subcontractor - but ultimately Paul Davis is responsible for who they hire.
However, the waiving of these charges did not cover our total loss.
They work on "island time" .....We will be there in the Morning they said ..then show up NUMBEROUS TIMES in the late afternoon ...but at least it was the same day
NO CALL to warn of their lateness ...how about a text with a heads up ...the work was great
BUT we have jobs ..we can't take off and wait all day
Final straw ....when the drying people left on a Friday
They "restoration side" will call you Monday ......of course NO CALL
Call the office Tuesday AM ...they knew NOTHING of needing to call me
Got numberous "we are so sorry" in my call ...but still ....really !
I would not reconmmend or trust this company!!!!

As a preferred vendor of numerous carrier providers and the availability to dispatch within hours of contact to emergency situations 24/7, we hope that you accept our apology for our possible lack of communication skills/information not presented and/or not explaining the billing process requirements of this situation. As a preferred vendor, we have exact billing cost and requirements that we are obligated to stand by with the approved carrier on the agreed price component list. If these cost are not approved in a normal covered situation we are always happy to discuss and make adjustments to those cost for unforeseen circumstances such as non a covered loss or unique situations. With that being said, we absolutely appreciate your time/feedback to allow us the opportunity to operate and properly grow efficiently to better understand and enable to better serve our community!"
We contacted them regarding the damage from the ice storm and they sent out an estimator from their North Indy office to do an estimate. The estimator showed up promptly at the appointed time and surveyed the work needing to be done by walking through the insurance ajdusters report. In the midst of completing an estimate for us a series of severe storms in the area necessitated the Indy North office to transfer the project to the Indy South office, They were inundated with jobs for people with severe damage that took priority over our stabilized situation. The transition went smoothly and I was contacted by Chip from the South office to meet and review the project.
Chip worked closely with the adjuster and actually reduced the overall scope of the work required by doing a thorough analysis of the damaged areas. What the adjuster had specified as a complete hardwood floor refinishing operation turned into a half hour of work by a flooring professional to close the gaps in some boards that had swelled when wet.
The painters they provided were professional and did a good job of matching the multiple colors of wall and woodwork they had to work with.
The drywall repairs are invisible and ceiling areas were refinished to match the existing textures.
All the workers were conscientious and cleaned up after their jobs were finished.
"That you for your comments. Sorry for the inconvenience caused by the mess left by our drywallers. Since the completion of your job we have had several discussions with them and have decided to remove them from our list of subcontractors. Unfortunately, we can do nothing about the carpet company since they were selected by your insurance company and not us. Thank you."
