Good folks and fair prices. I trust Sue with any recommendations and I know that she has my best interest in mind.

It was terrible. They took longer than expected and did not complete the job. They would not come back out to repair a hues and just really poor quality workmanship. I would say, do not use Pate's.

Prior to installation we contacted Jim Phillips and informed him we repaired the pump and did not need it replaced and to please remove that from the service. The pump was replaced regardless and we were charged. Jim said after it was completed that he wasn't there to tell them not to replace it. The pressure test for leaks was not performed. We were charged. Again Jim said he wasn't there to verify that work. We began leaking water immediately. Contacted Jim again and he said he couldn't do anything about it, gave us the name of the person who could check it - it cost us an additional $350 to find a definite leak. The leak could not be repaired without draining the pool, and digging to the return. This was contracted with Pates to be done prior to the repair (this person confirmed he did not do a leak test for Pates when the initial work was done). We had to seal off the main drain and intake to stop the leak. The liner is already pulling away from the edges of the deck - it's been less than a year since it was installed.

went very well. they said it was something with my by-pass and replaced the part. Told me about another leak I did not know about in my return line as well.

Pate's was recommended to us by the previous homeowner when we bought our house. We have a 22,000 in ground vinyl liner. They do free water tests in the store and have reasonable chemical prices. They installed a new heater for us and we used it all last summer with no problems. They also have opened our pool twice and closed it twice. They don't actually test the pool when they open it. When I went in to ask about why my chlorine is sky high and won't go down, they just responded that" some pools just don't get rid of chlorine". Well I researched online and that's not true. I bought a high tech chemical test kit and found my CYA level is sky high. This requires emptying a lot of the water and adding fresh. When I called the service department the guy didn't know what I was talking about but scheduled to come drain and refill. No one seems to know what they are talking about except maybe the owner who is usually around the shop. I'm looking for a more knowledgable company.

They were supposed to come back because there was a pipe that was missing in the heater, but I don't know if they came back.
I contacted them this morning regarding the pool cleaner, and I was hung up on. When I called back I received the voicemail.
I have called repeatedly to inquire about when this will be fixed and so far they have been completely unresponsive.
Needless to say my pool is getting pretty dirty, it's been a week now without the cleaner running.

When we purchased our house, the previous owners definitively stated we should use Pate's for pool service. Like typical fools, though, we tried companies closer to home, and had varying degrees of issues. But with Pate's, what you get is people -- every one of them who has come out -- who seem to truly care about doing a job correctly, and even coming back a few days later to ensure the job was done right (in the case of our leak, making sure it was holding properly).
Sometimes they are a little difficult to schedule with -- they won't give you a set day for open or close, just a week when they will come -- but when they do come out, you get someone who is going to do the job right, who isn't going to upsell you, and who you immediately feel you can trust. In a world of pool stores that make their money selling you chemicals and services you absolutely do not need, Pate's stands out. I won't make the mistake of going elsewhere again for service.

I have been going to them for about four years. I go to them because of their knowledge; I think they are more knowledgeable than other pool companies. They are a smaller company compared to some of the chains; they just have the one location.

They came prepared with a new one in case they had to replace it. If I have any problems in between they would deal with them. They have good workmen who seem to know what they're talking about. They are good and reliable.

They came out on time and the day before I called to confirm when and what time they would show up. On time, two guys showed up and walked to the backyard. They started to close the pool down and asked me were the pool materials were at the house. I went back inside and went back to work at home office. They never asked me for anything else. I walked out at the end and they explained in detail what they did start to finish. I will be using Pates again in the spring! Prices are fair!

Their pricing was competitive. The owner of the company was very good and when we had a problem, he was very quick to respond and correct it. The quality of their work was good and I was satisfied with their service.

The liner was replaced and it had a good fit, but it seems like they forget one crucial step. They did not clean up small the stones and debris before they installed the new liner. There were more than half a dozen places where small stones and gravel were left under the new liner. When I complained they did come out and re-drained the pool and removed the largest of the stones and crud. I am pretty sure that the previous liner lasted as long as it did because the quality of the installation. I am not so sure that this new liner will last as long. Also, I expected to have to deal with the hassle and expense of re-balancing the pool chemistry once, but not twice.

They opened our pool this year and did not sweep the bottom of the pool! They do not show up for weekly services that we have already paid for! Do not return messages, do not show up! It is absolutely the worst service we have ever encountered!

I was reluctant to use Pates at first because of some bad things that were said about them on Angie's List. I called and talked to Steve in the service department adn he gave me a list of references to talk to. I called several of the names he provided and was satisfied with the answers I was given. Pate's came over and measured the liner from many different angles and depths. They said all the measurements will be plugged into a CAD program and a liner will be made specifically for our pool. It takes about 3 weeks to get the liner made. Since we were getting ready to have a party, I called to find out if our liner would be installed in time for the festivities. To my suprise they said they already had the liner ready and was waiting for some warmer weather for the install (it was the beginning of April at the time). The installers called me in the morning of the scheduled install to inform me that they were going to be a few hours late because they were finishing up a job from the day before. No problem I appreciated the call. thye go to the house at 1:30 pm and began the install. The old liner was cut out, folded, and boxed up. This was the first time I could see what a bare pool looked like. The new liner was installed after cleaning out the bare shell. A fire hydrant was used to refill the pool while the wrinkles were carefully ironed out. The installers worked hard to get everything done in three hours and our new pool was born. The start-up chemicals for the new water were left at the shop but the next day they acme out and poured all the chemicals in and the job as complete.

Bought a house with a pool and spa existing that were approx 12 years old. Pates had serviced pool and spa for previous owners. Contacted Pates to open pool in spring of 2006 and to give us a tutorial. They did a good job on both. Had a situation with clouding and Jim came to house and found the cause which was $50 valve. I was very relieved. I don't pay close attention and forgot some details about spa operation and they came back out and retaught me. They do good quality work, price fairly, and give me peace of mind when it comes to my pool and spa. I have some big parties and everyone comments about how nice the pool looks.

Our experience with Pates was disappointing and frustrating. We hired them to maximize our pool utilization and minimize hassle. Despite the fact that they had closed our pool in the fall, after servicing it all summer (it should have been in optimal shape at that time), it took them nearly a month to get it clear after opening it. We called repeatedly and asked them to do whatever was necessary to get the pool clear, including how ever many visits per week were necessary to accomplish this goal. Despite this, we had only about 2 - 3 weeks during which the pool was clear before it became too cloudy to swim in, even with minimal use. They have been working on it for the last 3 weeks and have been unable to get it clear. My husband and I have called multiple times to speak to a service person, and never seem to be able to reach anyone. They say they will follow-up and don't. Overall, the experience has been very unsatisfactory and we have discontinued our service agreement with them. The net result for us: a cloudy pool and hundreds of dollars wasted on service and chemicals!

He is a procrastinator, the quality of work is sloppy, and I would not recommend him. He doesn't stand behind his work. He didn't use all of the lumber and we found the left over lumber dumped behind our deck. He also said he would clean my hot tub heater and he never did it. The prices were also much higher than other companies.

This summer our pool was rendered helpless in holding any chlorine because we had a high level of phosphate that was blocking the chlorine. We go in frequently to have our water checked and they are always very helpful and helped us to resolve our issue. I never knew that putting weed killer on nearby plants could throw off your pool chemicals, but it does. Pate's could have given us expensive remedies that would not have worked and cause us many unneeded headaches. However, with their help our pool situation was fixed at the fraction of the cost that I am sure would have been incurred going anywhere else. I would also like to say the staff is always friendly and helpful and operate on convenient hours.

Our experience was terrible. I will never call this company again. We were treated as though we were "bothering" them, asking for a service to be performed by this service company! We stopped calling them two weeks ago when we found someone else (much more reasonably priced) to do the work, and I suspect Pate's will never even follow up with us, even though they were supposedly still trying to fit us into the schedule.

WE MOVED INTO A HOME WITH A POOL NEEDING CARE. PATE'S PEOPLE MADE EVERY EFFORT TO WORK WITH US AND KEEP OUR POOL WATER IMPECCABLE, EVEN SENDING SERVICE PEOPLE OUT TO DOUBLE CHECK WHEN WE HAVE WATER PROBLEMS AND COMPANY COMING. THEY ARE PATIENT IN HELPING ME LEARN HOW TAKE CARE OF THE POOL MYSELF IN BETWEEN THEIR TREATMENTS.
