Palladian Home Design

Well, Mike was a great guy and I enjoyed speaking with him. However, for the price of the service I would have expected much more. The blueprints were pretty basic and there were some fundamental design issues with it. Essentially, the design couldn't be completed as drawn in a few areas & they weren't even quite right by the time I got the final product. It also took a very long time to finally get our designs back, which delayed our project considerably. I should have just gone straight to a contractor with my own basic designs.

We came to Mike Shrader and Palladian Home Design in January of 2012 to have him update a set of existing blueprints we had developed over the years for a house we wanted to build in southern Indiana. In order to have this home built by a modular home company, we had to adjust the plans to fit their maximum width and some other concerns which the current set did not take into consideration. Mike was super friendly and great through the whole experience and had lots of great advice about certain areas of the home which were big improvements. He was flexible with the design as well. We had to remove various features as time went on in order to make the home fit our budget and Mike was great at helping us realize the same home in a different way. We had worked with a few other architects and it seemed like they wanted to build their vision instead of staying on track with the one we already had in mind. Mike did not do that, he helped us maintain the overall look and feel of the house we had been planning for years. Mike had the plans ready for us to look at in very short order and even though we made changes, he re-drew the plans again very quickly with the changes. We not only got a set of standard blueprints but also got a "mini" set to go home with in order to refer to them over the phone with the builder. Very handy to have those! And we were shown a PDF online via email in order to have them available to various other vendors for the basement, roofing, chimney, etc. We also relied on his expertise in engineering and architectural structures when it came to making modifications to the actual home once it was on site and he was nice enough to travel 3 hours away to review the structure and give us advice on the mods. Without his advice and help, we would not have the amazing house we have there today. His input was worth every penny. I highly recommend Mike Shrader and Palladian Home Design if you want a custom home or if you want to update an existing one or a have a set of blueprints you are ready to start with but want changes.
