Off Duty Construction

I've had nearly every window replaced in the two different homes I've owned, all done by Off Duty Construction. I had a great experience with Mike the first time I hired them to replace some windows in home (back in fall 2010 if memory serves). I've since hired them to do a few windows at a time another half dozen times since, totaling close to 30 windows. While the window quality is very good, the installation - arguably as important as anything else - is just as good or better. Mike has had the same lead installer on every job for which I've had done and his work is great. I'd hire Mike and his team again without a second thought.

They worked quickly and professionally. The work was done while I was at work. When I returned home the construction mess was completely clean and I have a wonderful new patio door. They will be my first call in the future.

Mike Martin was very patient and not "hard sell". We had bids from three contractors, he was not lowest cost, but supplied the highest quality windows for the price. When the windows arrived from the manufacturer he and his crew installed them in a professional manner.

Mike was excellent to work with. We had an old sliding glass patio door that barely moved. He came to our home, showed us some quality options, then offered to install a cheaper door from Lowes or Home Depot if we decided to go with that. Not sales-y at all and a very nice guy. We chose the quality door after looking at all of the information and he and his team installed it promptly when he said they would. Looks great and works like a charm!

Mike was very good about keeping us informed as to when our patio door would be available for him to install and when he would start. Everything happened exactly as he said it would. Their workmanship was quality, they kept dust from going throughout the house and they cleaned everything spotlessly when they were done. They will be my go to for future projects

It went fantastic.  Mike was really easy to deal with and his guys did a great job.  We get compliments from neighbors all the time.

We meet with Mike for a quote.  He was very down to earth.  After we agreed to the price we had a work date scheduled for three weeks later.  Unfortunately due to a postal error, the check with the contract never arrived at his office.  Mike was wonderful about it.  He did not "freak out" and demand payment.  He calmly told us to wait until first day of work to give half payment.  I was very thankful for his patience with the problem. 
Mike has an installation crew which works with him to install the windows.  Dwayne, Josh his son and nephew Joe came the first day.   They were on time and professional.  The work was efficient and clean. They were informative about the work they were doing.  The first day they installed the windows in front of the house and the second day......the Halloween Storm happened so no work.   The next day Dwayne returned with his brother and Josh to finish installing the rest of the windows.  The shutters were the only item left to finish.  Because of the rain delay they had to rescheduled for a few days later to put them up.  We were on vacation when it happened.  When we got home we were pleased to see everything done and how well it all looked.

We gave him a really good rating, so I will rate him again after he is finished with his job.

Mike was prompt, his estimate was reasonable and he took the time to inform us about window quality.  He kept us informed as the window was being ordered, installed quickly and we were pleased with the result. Mike really knows what he is doing and we are glad we chose Window Source.

Mike gave us a no-pressure estimate, and after experiencing some very high-pressured sales pitches from a couple other companies, we chose to use Window Source Indy because of the price and the quality of the windows.  Within a couple weeks from agreement, the windows arrived and they began installation.  It took 2 days to complete the interior work, and then another 3 days to complete all the exterior work.  Mike was always very professional, courteous and timely.  Dwayne did the majority of the installation, and was always a quiet, diligent worker.  He took his time on the windows and did not act rushed, which is a good thing!  We are very pleased.  We'll always recommend them to other people, and we're glad to support a local firefighter.

To begin with, I am very fussy about the quality of the products and professionalism of suppliers for my house.  I received four quotes and spent alot of time investicating the quality of the windows.  Was theWindow Source the least expense? - No way.  Some of the windows I wouldn't put in my dog house.  Mike Martin, Owner, and Dwane, metal man/installer, did a quality job of receiving, deliverying and installing my above work load.  And yes, it was hot (95-100 degrees).  In addition to the new windows and doors, Mike and Dwane replaced rotted flooring and rotted wood under the sliders.  As Mike said, "We'll fix it."  And, the did!  Eliminating the rotted out brick mold with metal and caulk that matched was the way to go.  They cleaned everything up and hauled it out.  The jury is out but I'll be we save a bundle on hearing and Air Conditioning with the Low E glass.  How do I know it is better glass?  We have a TV on the deck under the cover that we always controlled by remote through the sliding glass door.  Not anymore.  We have to open the door to change anything.  That's a good thing.  Oh!  We also want to thank Mike's son - Acting President.

He actually gave me the estimate in the fall but I delayed the work until spring.  When I called him, Mike remembered me and quickly reworked up an estimate and we scheduled the job.  I cannot say enough good about working with this company.  They are reasonably priced, responsive, polite and professional.  The work was done on time and exactly as promised.  Mike also provided a few extras such as temporary stairs and some wall patch work that I did not expect.  In the future I will do business with Mike and his company again.  He is honest and a straight-shooter.  I would highly recommend this company to other Angie's List members.

The job went very smoothly. They greeted us with the usual polite and friendly conversation. They carefully began the demolition of the old structure .They removed the old materials down two flights of stairs without messing up the house. They took off the stickers from the new windows and cleaned them before the installation. Dewayne carefully sealed and caulked around the interior frame.After he completed the inside he began to painstakingly caulk, measure,and cut the new custom trim. As the day progressed the beauty of the new job began to reveal itself. He installed the shutters to highlight our beautiful new custom windows. Neighbors again commented how nice the job looks. They said they were looking forward to Widow Source installing their windows in the spring. After seven and a half hours of work Dewayne vacuumed the area and completely cleaned all debris from the roof and yard. This is an exceptional company that does exceptional work.

I have been having my windows installed piecemeal (We have forty nine windows) and he assured me when he came back this year they would match the two other times he installed windows for me. I am thrilled with the results. After the first installation of  fourteen windows my gas bill began to dramatically drop.We went from $143.00 on the budget to $125.00 on the budget to$ 88.00 on the budget and then I dropped the budget and the Gas company now in November owes me$ 300.00. Another treat I had not expected was being able to use our sun porch this last winter on the coldest day of the year in warm comfort. He installed the windows on the porch during the second job I hired him for. The product he sells is of very high quality with proven and dramatic results. We have had so many compliments from friends and neighbors. My next door neighbors plan to use him next year to replace all of their windows. My neighbors on both sides watched the windows being installed and were very impressed with the quality job, the professional cleanup and the skill and craftsmanship in removing the old windows and replacing the new. I might have them install six more windows before the winter gets too bad, In the spring we hope to complete the project with the final fourteen windows. He is absolutely the best contractor for the price that we have ever hired.

For the record, replacement window reps are, overall, the worst contractors I have had to deal with in the renovation of my building. I actually threw one of the competitor’s reps out of my building for high pressure sales tactics and told another by phone that I would not work with a company that presented the way they did just in the scheduling! After talking to 7 different companies, including a couple who came in lower on price, I chose Window Source because of Mike's presentation - not at all pushy and very informative. Mike's installer, Duane, was tremendous. He gave meticulous attention to detail work. Mike went out of his way to special order the exterior coil wraps to match the trim paint already on the building, and it is a perfect match! Duane's installation of the wrap is beautiful. My building is in Fountain Square, an area that is working h****** revitalization. The quality of work is what I would expect to see in a much more affluent neighborhood. Mike is a true professional who is keen on customer service. I wanted to replace my generic single pain widows with a custom made job. I had Mike change out eight old windows with two very large beautiful picture windows with two windows with grids on each side. He also replaced to two windows on the end of the porch. All of the windows are low-E energy efficient glass. Mike went the extra mile and wrapped a concrete edge underneath the outside of the window for no extra charge. His two employees are great. They are very polite, hard working gentlemen. This porch is absolutely beautiful. My neighbors love it. Even strangers have walked by and told me they love the look. I highly recommend this company.

We met Mike at the home show and we were very impressed with his product. He did not try the hard sell with with us. He is a polite and respectful gentleman who also works as a fireman. He has been on time for all appointments and shows up when he promises. His two employees are exceptional workers that take great pride in doing the job correctly. The windows are beautiful and so easy to clean! After this job we made plans to have him come back for our sun porch a few months later. We could already tell the difference this summer in our air conditioning and sound deadening. His price beats just about everyone.
