I called and left a message requesting service. The owner called me back a couple of days later, and we arranged for a time about 10 days later. The crew of four, run by the owner's older son, arrived half an hour early, and got started right away. He had a crew of four, including himself, all of whom were nice, personable, and obviously very skilled. The work involved cleaning 29 windows, three chandeliers, one 14' high and one 10' high (above the stairs), an outside lamp post fixture and two coach light fixtures over the garage, the panes in two French doors. and two storm doors.
The crew spent two-and-a-half hours working non-stop. The two high chandeliers could only be reached by a tall ladder, the higher of the two also being just inside a window that needed washing. The young man who climbed up the latter was very careful in bringing it in and not damaging the door frame or walls, and he expertly washed those chandeliers and that high window. He also had to place the ladder on the first of two landings of stairs going from the ground to the second floor, to reach the lower of the two chandeliers, and did that flawlessly, as well.
The window in front of the higher of the two chandeliers had a blind that was operated by a battery-powered motor. The crew member who got up on the ladder kindly took the battery case down from the window sill so I could replace the batteries with fresh ones, and reinstalled the case where it needed to go on the window sill.
The work was all done in an orderly fashion, moving from room to room, then the storm doors, and then the outside work. The crew members got along with each other well, and worked well together. It was amazing how nice everything looked after it had been washed and cleaned, and I was very pleased indeed with the work.
A couple of additional kudos--the team members wore plastic "booties" inside, to avoid tracking anything onto the carpet, and, to my pleasant surprise, they placed back in position some things I had moved away from the windows to help facilitate cleaning, the latter absolutely exceeding my expectations. By the time they finished, they seemed like family, and I was actually sorry to see them go.
A strange problem occurred after they had left. That one high window blind has to be operated with a remote control. I tested the control briefly, once, while the crew was here, and it seemed to work. However, when I tried to close the blind that night, the motor wouldn't respond to the remote. Of course, there was no way I could reach the window sill and try to work with the direct controls for the motor that were up there, so I called the company and left an S.O.S. message about the matter.
The owner himself called me back the next day, and came out the day after that with his younger son. He brought in a ladder and went up to look at the case containing the batteries. To my relief, and happy surprise, after he removed the battery case cover and replaced it, the motor worked fine, both from the controls in the window sill and via the remote. I was able to close the blind; problem solved! That took only 15 minutes, and was a big relief. The owner refused to charge me, despite my protests, for coming back.
I have used this firm twice before, and highly recommend it. The people and service are truly wonderful.
