The experience was terrible. They did nothing and skipped the cleaning. They did not clean anything that I can tell. They just breezed through my house and moved a couple of things around. One time I came back to my house and could not find a single person in my house that spoke English. I just told them goodbye and not to come back. I just don't use them anymore; I have someone else.
But there was not a lot of attention to detail. They mopped the bathroom floor, but left dirt in the corners. I don't think they ever cleaned the water dispenser in the refrigerator door, even though I confirmed with the office that they were supposed to. The base of the kitchen faucet didn't get very clean - I mentioned this to the office person, & her response was that it's hard to clean faucets unless you use a lime treatment, which the cleaners have to request specifically for the job. They were supposed to wash the hardwood floors, but I didn't see any evidence of it (that might mean that they did a thorough job of drying the floors, but they didn't look particularly clean.) One time they put the sheets on our king size bed sideways (granted, it's almost square, but you can tell when you get it wrong), but I left a note for them the next time & they got it right thereafter. They were supposed to leave a card when they left, telling us which rooms got "special treatment," but that rarely happened.
If I need this service in the future, I'll probably look elsewhere first & come back to Merry Maids if I don't find something else.
First and Final Cleaning: Merry Maids was scheduled to come at 12:00pm, so my fiance worked from home in the morning to let them in. They did not show up till 1:30, stating that another job took longer than they thought. If only they had spent a little extra time on our 2 bedroom condo, maybe we would still be in business with them. They left one of our two bedrooms completely untouched, while the rest of the condo was cleaned with the detail of someone who was trying to make up an hour and a half of lost time. The bathroom counter was half cleaned (toothpaste still visible), and the baseboards untouched. If this was their idea of a "deep" clean, I certainly did not want to see what a regular cleaning looked like.
Cancellation: We decided that this level of service was not something we wanted to continue paying for, so we decided to eat the $200 cost of the "complimentary" cleaning. After numerous phone calls attempting to cancel the contract, finally we were able to complete the cancellation. However, when we saw the charge from Merry Maids hit our credit card statement, it was for $311. When we called to correct this error, they referenced the fine print of the contract stating that the "deep" cleaning service was on top of the already regular service of $111. This directly conflicted what we were told by the sales representative. I asked them, considering the sub-par cleaning job, to correct this error and ONLY charge us the $200 we were expecting. The lady said that she would not do that, and there is nothing that she could do to rectify the situation. When I asked to speak with her manager, she explained that she was the manager. I was dumbfounded.
Summary: I cannot stress how disappointed I am with Merry Maids. They misrepresented the contract that we signed, showed up late to the appointment, did a poor job cleaning, and after all that, were not remotely accommodating. From the late start to an early finish, their quality and professionalism was abysmal.
