Mattresses, Furniture - Sales
After a complete disaster dealing with another furniture store , Macy's was great. The saleswoman Kathie was friendly and professional . .. I chose furniture that was similar to the other store [ same manufacturer ] and bedding . I also chose a chair that was fabulous. The experience was smooth and efficent. From the saleswoman to the customer service dept , the informative e-mails and the gentlemanly delivery men I will definitely shop at Macy's again

The sales person, Barbara, was nice and helpful. The delivery was on time but they were only able to deliver my mattress because the box spring didn't fit through my doorway. This is my first furniture buying experience so I felt a little inferior when one of the employees asked me why I hadn't measured the doorway (or the furniture). I felt it was unnecessary for him to give me a hard time about it. I had to order a new box spring which will hopefully fit and I will update this report at that time. I will use them again in the future assuming they give me a good deal on the second box spring.

Furniture - Sales
When we got it home, within three months, the cushions started breaking down. I called an inspector to come out and look at the cushion. They said that the foam cushions were defective. They said they would mail us a new cushion, which they did. We had a service tech change the cushion. Now, the other cushions on the other part of the sectional are breaking down. I again called them to come inspect the cushions. He said nothing was wrong with them, and everything was fine. I insisted that something was, so I called them back to send another inspector. That inspector said that he would have Macy's call me back--they have not. They are supposed to replace my cushions, and they have not. I have called back numerous times with no result. Most recently I have called them and I have been told that they will not be shipped until April 5th. I was told on February 9th that they had already been shipped. It has been six weeks and I still haven't gotten them. I ended up contacting Macy's about a warranty, and I was told that there is a 5 year warranty for cushion foam cores.

Mattresses
In August, I bought a mattress and box spring and opted to pick it up even though delivery was free because Macy's delivers to Greenfield only once a month. I would have to wait 3 weeks for the delivery date and I really wanted a new mattress! I did not like the new mattress and followed the guidelines printed on my receipt for exchanging a mattress. I worked with the same salesperson because she was very pleasant. This time I opted for delivery so the old mattress could be picked up at the same time. I was in a rush to get back to work so the saleswoman said she would set everything up (delivery and pick up details) and call me with any problems. She called me a few days later to inform me by that Macy's would not pick up my old mattress because I had originally picked it up. The saleswoman said she tried everything and spoke to many superiors to resolve this issue and save me from driving the mattress back to Macy's and I believe her.

The previous shop I went through said at last minute they lost the order for the dresses and Macy's came through at a better price. Their employees were courteous and very helpful in a stressful situation and I'd recommend them to others.

Jewelry Sales/Design/Repair
Their remount was in May of 2006. I had it mounted in a ring with 7 of my grandmother's diamonds. I took them to have them appraised by a gemologist and I was told the pink sapphire was a fake. I called Levian Headquarters in NYC and they were shocked because they only sell real stones. They had me take it back to Macy's so they could send it to the Levian headquarters to have it appraised. They sent it to Levian. Levian sent it to the International Gemological Institute in NYC. They kept the ring for 8 weeks to do a very detailed analysis. According to their analysis, the stone is real. I got the ring back with a shipping invoice only, showing the insurance on the ring of $4000.00. I never received an appraisal. Debbie said I could send it to a Macy's appraiser and they would keep it for 24 days.

Watch Repair
I prepaid $60.00 for repair. They said that it would be ready in a month. After 6 weeks, I finally called them. They said they sent it away and it will be an additional $117.00 and longer to fix although they promised it in one month for $60.00.
