Extremely well.

Mr. Robbins was outstanding in his ability to negotiate with the insurance company. He's been in that industry and knows the ins and outs of their process. 
The workmen were all very knowledgeable and professional. Mr. Robbins and I discussed in detail the work to be performed as I wanted to make a few changes in order to improve airflow in the attic. 
I felt like there were lapses in communication because if I had not been on site discussing the work to be performed that day there would have been several items that would not have been performed as discussed with Mr. Robbins. Not to mention the painters brought the wrong brand of paint even though I had provided explicit instructions regarding paint brand and color in order to match other rooms in the house.

It took them one day. The owner Mel first came out to give me an estimate. Him and the company were very trustworthy.

It went wonderful. They can do anything. Even when he does contract out, he picks great people to do the work. I am very happy with his services.

I would hire Mel for any remodel or repair project I had. He didn't push me but once I made the necessary selections, he completed the work in a timely and orderly manner. His employees were courteous, professional, and excellent in their particular skill sets.

He was reliable on time, cleaned up fairly well after themselves, quality appeared good. I would use them again in the future.

They do a great job and work with the insurance companies really well.

It was wonderful. He is very good and I enjoyed working with him. He was there when he said he would be. I'd have him again if I needed something like that done.

My approximately $125,000 job went very well.

•         1. The owner thoroughly understands the operating procedures of Insurance Companies, did nearly all interfacing and    submittals of required documents. When exposing unexposing problems, again contacted insurance co. and obtained additional funds.
•         2.  Mel truly knows building materials and time periods they were used, having grown up working in his Father's lumber company which is very helpful when working on older buildings.
•         3.  In number of cases, problems of matching materials was encountered and Robbins Construction had to make a great effort to  find materials to match, in some cases had to fabricate items. In all cases at a much greater cost to  Robbins Construction            which they absorbed as part of the job.
  •         4.  Owner, Mel was engaged throughout the entire project, on time for all meetings, returned all calls and was willing to accept calls 24/7. Would take as much time as necessary to discuss any aspect of the job. Never was defensive about anything, always
  • positive and never commented that any items selected for the job was more than the estimated bid price; always agreeable to go       with items selected.
    •         5.  I have a clear understanding of what is "Quality Work" as a result of working as an Electrical Engineer for over 30 years in   
    • industry, personally done all types of maintenance on personally owned rental properties and overseeing building of a number of
    • large construction projects. Truly M. J. Robbins Construction delivered a "Quality" project for me. In fact in the inside it looked
    • just like the inside of a new house.
  • If there was a rating of A++, I would rate M. J. Robbins Construction, Inc. overall as A++; because, I do not know how I could find
• a better company to work with on any construction project.

I was very, very pleased with the work. I really like Mel Robbins and I liked all of his contractors that he used. I would definitely use him again. When we realized this damage it was very upsetting. We discovered the wood on the back of our bookshelves and fireplace started to crack. Our insurance company would not cover anything because it was a long-term thing. They recommended Mel Robbins though. He was a calming influence through the problems and expense. I liked his whole demeanor. He seemed like a real straight forward guy and followed through on everything he promised. That was refreshing because that is not always the case with people. He did a real quality job. The carpenters had to take apart my mantle and bookshelf. The parts that were not damaged they saved and the others they replaced. It looks as good as the day we moved into the house. No one would ever know we had an issue unless I told them. It is nice to have my home back to normal.

They couldn't find the leak and it took a number of years for them to get it right. They went to extensive trouble to try and correct the problems. It was actually raining inside my house. They have solved the problem except for one window in the front and the only time that is a problem is when the rain and wind come from the north. They were here many, many times and they did a lot of work. What they have done has cost them way more than what I have paid them. They were persistent about getting it fixed. I still need to call them about the one leaking window.

They were very professional. They were prompt. They cleaned up our property well. They took the time to explain to us what they were going to be doing. We are very pleased.

I have never seen a group work so hard. They even worked on the morning of the 4th of July. They made a very big effort to clean the yard as best as they could; we were very appreciative of this effort. They did a wonderful job and we have recommended them.

The service was good overall. They were prompt and responsive with estimate.

Mel Robbins was very knowledgeable about the entire process of handling insurance claims. Mel provided an estimate including the price for the gutter/downspout replacement that was outside of the insurance claim. NOTE: It appears that MJ Robbins uses subs for some of the work. The roofers started a week or so earlier than the office had indicated, which is a good thing, and completed the work within a few days. The gutter replacement followed within a day or so. Once the exterior work was completed, I inspected the job. Several small issues were brought to Mel's attention (several roof vents were not properly caulked, flashing around the skylight needed additional nails to get it to lay flush, and the gutter sub had to come back to properly attach the downspouts to the gutter). Interior sub was a nightmare. Had to come back twice to paint the ceiling. Didn't put a single piece of furniture back in the proper place, left a bag of Spackle compound in the utility room, etc.

I have used them a couple of times now and am very pleased with them.

M.J. ROBBINS REPLACED MY ROOF AND GUTTERS. THE WORK WAS SUBCONTRACTED TO TWO DIFFERENT CREWS, BOTH OF WHOM DID FINE WORK.

VERY GOOD TO WORK WITH. ALSO HELPED NEGOTIATE WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY FOR ME.

THE LEAK WAS NOT FIXED BY MR. ROBBINS. WE GAVE HIM A CHANCE TO REPAIR IT BEFORE CONTACTING OTHER VENDORS. HE CHOSE NOT TO MAKE A SECOND ATTEMPT AT FIXING THE LEAK. WE CHOSE ANOTHER ROOFING COMPANY FOR THE SECOND ATTEMPT, AND THEY SUCCESSFULY SOLVED THE PROBLEM. WE DID NOT EXECUTE A WRITTEN AGREEMENT WITH MR. ROBBINS BEFORE THE ORIGINAL WORK WAS DONE. VERBAL AGREEMENTS WERE NOT HONORED BY MR. ROBBINS, AND HE CHOSE TO ENFORCE HIS VERSION OF OUR AGREEMENT IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT.

THIS HAPPENED IN SUMMER 2002. MEL WAS RESPONSIVE AND FRIENDLY. MEL CALLED AFTER THE INSTALLATION TO MAKE SURE THINGS WERE OK -- I HAD A COUPLE OF MINOR ''FIXES'', WHICH HE TOOK CARE OF PROMPTLY. ONE THING IS THAT THEY LEFT THE DUMPSTER IN OUR DRIVEWAY FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS AFTER THE JOB WAS FINISHED. WHEN I TOLD HIM, HE APOLOGIZED AND HAD IT REMOVED RIGHT AWAY. ALSO, I NOTICED SOME MISSING SHINGLES A FEW MONTHS AFTER THE INSTALLATION AND CALLED ABOUT IT. HIS GUYS FIXED IT WITH NO PROBLEM.
