I searched the Lowe's website and could not find a statement to support that a pad needed to be purchased. That information should be disclosed.
I am disappointed in the service we received from this store and would not recommend this store for any home improvements.
First off, if you are trying to reach Flooring by phone you are S.O.L. You will be hustled around the phone system until (hopefully) you get someone. I picked out my carpet before the estimate, down to the pad. I asked Lowe's for an itemization of the charges and they gave the info. to me over the phone. When I went in to get my contract and pay I there was no one at the desk. When someone actually showed up it took her 45 minutes to find a working printer and print my contract. (She tried to get me to pay and retrieve the contract later but I refused). However, when I went in to pay and look over the contract I noticed the way it was set up was very deceiving. They combined the price of the pad with the installation cost because it was coming from the contractor's warehouse. There was no itemized breakdown so I went out onto the floor to double check the cost of the carpet with the pad and multiplied it with the square footage listed....It did not match! She had already corrected it once because she admitted the price of the carpet had changed between the time I paid for the estimate and when they went out....However, I realized when I calculated the price she had charged me for the PREMIUM PAD!!!
Yeah, this was the worst experience I have ever had with Lowe's. My brother is a current employee (not in IN) and my dad was a Lowe's store manager for years and even opened up several new stores in OK.
I shop there probably every week. They are reasonably priced overall, but it varies a lot. It seems to be high sometimes. The only complaint I have is that they close down their aisles whenever they are getting ready to do anything. They do this so that we don't get hurt. Sometimes they close it down even if there is nobody working in there. I have waited as long as 20 minutes before and have ended up going somewhere else. This is my biggest complaint. It seems like when we don’t want any help we get plenty of it; and when we want help we just can't find any. This is true of a lot of places. It is a pretty good store, though.
