+ -1 moreMr. Lineman called me back the day I left a message asking for a quote. He came by the next day, gave me an estimate, and I booked him on the spot. My job was relatively small, so he planned to do my job when weather would prevent him from working a larger job that next week and he would let me know the day before. This was fine with me because I have flexible hours, and he did offer to do an evening if this wouldn't suit my schedule. He came the next week as promised. He and one other man worked diligently and finished the whole job in about three hours. He left my house spotless (not a speck of dust anywhere!), and the plaster repair looked great. The texture on the ceiling matched my existing ceiling perfectly. I did have a question before painting, and I texted him a picture, and he responded quickly. I was so impressed that he was willing to take the time to help me after finishing the job. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.

Description of Work: We were renovating the entire main floor of the house (except kitchen). We needed all textured ceilings to be scraped down and skimmed to a smooth finish. All walls and ceilings were sanded and painted. All dark-stained window, door, and floor trim were sanded and painted white.

What is unique about Rusty and his team is that they do drywall repair as well as painting, so before they did anything they patched all the various cracks and dents and nail pops that had accumulated since the house was built as well as mudded new drywall that was installed as part of a remodel. Our 30 year old walls looked brand new when they were done. Everyone was very nice, great job cleaning up, with a good price for exceptional work. Absolutely will be using them in the future.

+ -1 moreI had emailed Russ photos of my cracked plaster on the wall and ceiling of my 1928 kitchen. Got an appointment within 2 weeks. He arrived on time and had it done in 1 1/2 hours. He laid down tarps and covered cabinets and appliances with plastic sheeting. He vacuumed up afterwards and did a great job. All I need to do is paint it. He had originally quoted me a price of $600 but after seeing it in person dropped the price to $450. This is the second job he has done for me, the first being a similar situation 2 years ago in my bathroom and it still looks great.

+ 1 moreMr. Linehan did an amazing job repairing drywall in a closet/bathroom area that had been damaged by wallpaper removal. He skimmed drywall, sanded and painted. He painted the ceiling in this area too. I can not find the first imperfection! He also painted the adjoining bedroom. Once the walls were painted, he mentioned the trim should be painted too so that everything would look fresh. This was not originally in the contract and he only charged me for the paint and not the labor! AND I had some really ugly lime green counter tops and he mentioned a new product that he could try and paint over them. Once again, he did not charge for the labor and did not charge for the product. It looks wonderful and I am so happy as new counter tops were not in my budget! AND he painted the vanity! He also repaired an area in my dining room above a window that had been damaged by a leak and said he would just throw that repair in as a freebie as I still had the paint. He and his workers were punctual, courteous, and kind to us and our cat. He was professional and laid down drop cloths on our hardwood floors from our front door all the way to the room where they were working. They draped furniture in the room while working and cleaned everything up when they were done. It was spotless when they left. I am very pleased with Mr. Linehan's work and will definitely use him for our next project!

+ -1 moreRuss Linehan stopped by at 7:30 pm on a Tuesday to give me an estimate on repairing the cracked plaster on my bathroom ceiling. He said he was very busy but if I was willing to have the repairs made on a Sunday he could fit me in. He arrived the following Sunday and the plaster was repaired in 1 1/2 hours. He was very professional and cleaned up everything before he left. I would use him again.

Description of Work: I would like to share my horrible experience I had recently with Russ Linehan and his company Linehan's & Sons Inc. Please make sure you check the website of the company you want to hire. Make sure it is legit business. Look at Linehan's & Sons Inc website: there are hundreds of pictures but no mailing address of the business. Make sure you google map 2306 Reformers Ave, Indianapolis (company's address provided on Angie's List and BBB website). I hired them initially to fix a crown molding in one of my rooms demaged by moisture. It was just $1,000.00 job and they did good job. It was mid December, they had not much work to do, so they offered their services to fix the plaster and paint windows and doors. They worked for me on and off till March 15th, 2013. They would work for few days then they would take off for few days or 1-2 weeks to work on a bigger project or to work for famous artist, etc, then they would come back and patch few holes in my house, then take off again. They never finish my dining room they started in December and they would move to another room and another room. Russ is a great saleperson I have to say. Make sure you ask him to sign all payment receipts. Every time I would ask him to sign a payment receipt his response was " I will sign it tomorrow, come on if you don't trust me by now..." That's his favorite saying. Good for me, I made him sign all the receipts. I lost the count how much I paid him because most of our contracts were verbal, but when I counted after they left and never finish the job I paid him $28,000.00. My last payment to Russ Linehan was on March 15th, 2013 he promised to finish up all 4 bedrooms upstairs and come back the fallowing week to finish 3 rooms, hallway and powder room downstairs. Never happened. I didn't even have opportunity to talk to him. I spoke on 2 occasions with his young nephew Brian. I got also few text messages that were sent from Russ' cellphone on March 20th: "We were scheduled for thursday mrng untill u started ur threating! U signed off on all our contracts meaning u paid us in full only because we are 100 percent done with your job. In order for us to come and do the extras you want done u will need to sign a certified letter that ... u will quit black-mailing us with the neighbors and the bbb. We are getting ready to work 4 a few of your neighbors and We do not want any of the drama ur causing carried over to our new clients" That was the professional reponse from Russ Linehan. I hope he will be available to explain himself in person in Small Claims Court. I don't think court would take his testimony via texting. I am certainly filling with Small Claims Court in the very near future to resolve the dispute. Russ friendliness can be very deceiving. He would do good job initially to gain your trust then he would start cutting corners as much as possible. I am enclosing few pictures of my house of Russ Linehan's "completed work" so you can judge for yourself. I am not able to live in my house since they left and never finished the job. I can offer tours of my house. You have to see it to believe it . Update 1/30/2014 I took them to small claims court and I won so I wanted the rest of the Angie's List members to know that. It's so hard to get someone to call you back, so it's nice to find someone who will tape the quote to the door and show up when they say they will.

+ -1 moreThe overall experience of being repeatedly put off with excuse after excuse led us to finally select a different contractor. When the company was "ready" to perform the work, they wanted to perform a six-man job that took 3 hours to complete and attempt it in an evening with three men. The frustration was an apparent inability to schedule and plan work and to commit to a schedule. This contractor has done good work with us on a prior occasion but this will no longer be the case.
Description of Work: Repair of plaster cracks, water damage and holes caused by plumbing repairs. The work was estimated after a visit to our home.

THEY REMOVED ALL THE HARDWARE BEFORE PAINTING WHICH RESULTED IN A VERY CLEAN LOOK. THEY CLEANED UP VERY NICELY AFTER EACH DAY. I CALLED TWICE AND SPOKE TO A WOMAN, WHO ASSURED ME SOMEONE WOULD GET BACK TO ME TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT. NO ONE EVER DID. MY WIFE CALLED, AND ONE DAY LATER, THEY FINALLY GOT BACK TO US. WE SET UP AN APPOINTMENT, BUT HE CALLED AT ABOUT THE TIME HE WAS SUPPOSED TO SHOW UP AND SAID HE COULDN'T MAKE IT AND WANTED TO PUSH IT BACK TWO MORE HOURS. I COULDN'T DO THAT BECAUSE OF A PRIOR COMMITMENT, SO WE SET UP A TIME THE FOLLOWING DAY. BUT THIS TIME, HE DIDN'T SHOW UP OR EVEN CALL. VERY, VERY RUDE. IF YOU'RE BUSY AND IT ISN'T A GOOD TIME, SAY SO. THEN YOU DON'T BURN BRIDGES FOR FUTURE WORK. BUT I CAN'T SEE MYSELF EVER CALLING ON THIS COMPANY AGAIN.

RUSS AND HIS SON ARRIVED AS SCHEDULED IN THE EVENING, RAPIDLY TARPED THE AREA, REMOVED THE OLD PLASTER AS NECESSARY, AND QUICKLY PATCHED THE AREAS IN QUESTION IN ABOUT 90 MINUTES WITH MINIMAL MESS AND A SMOOTH FINISH TO ALLOW SUBSEQUENT REMODELING WORK TO PROCEED. NOT ONLY WERE THEY TIMELY AND COURTEOUS BUT VERY EASY TO WORK WITH AND ACCOMMODATING TO OUR SITUATION. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY FOR SIMILAR WORK.
