After shopping at different cabinet companies and big box retailers, I stumbled into Limpus Cabinets and I'm very glad I did. By stumbled, I mean I had no prior knowledge or recommendations about the company. I learned Limpus is a multi-generational family business that completely understands customer service. Their direction was clearly focused on what was best for us, not what was best for their profit margin. Not only did we find exactly what we wanted, but the price was more than reasonable.
During the measuring process, we received great recommendations to best utilize the space. We knocked a huge hole into the dining room to open up the kitchen and provide bar seating which meant we lost a lot of wall space for cabinets. Their suggestions were extremely helpful to get the most out of the remaining wall space.
Our house is 150 years old, and we expected a few surprised... and we got them. Long after we ordered our cabinets and after demolition, we learned that the stove was dead-center in front of a giant wooden beam which meant we could not vent our range hood at a direct 90 degrees. We had to somehow go around the beam. The solution was a custom cabinet at the ceiling that would allow the vent to go around the beam. And by the time we figured it out, we needed it fast. Josh was able to help us and we quickly received the cabinet. Also during the remodel, we found a large hidden area above our refrigerator that was wasted space. We decided to add a cabinet above the fridge and once again, Josh came through with custom cabinet doors in a hurry. We now have a great place to store large packages of paper towels, etc., and it looks great.
The result of their work is a gorgeous, functional new kitchen with absolutely beautiful cabinets. Limpus Cabinet prices compete or beat big box retailers, but the true measure of their worth is their outstanding customer service. They did backflips to get us what we needed when we needed it. I'd recommend Limpus to anyone looking for kitchen cabinets regardless of their budget.
Step two was coming to measure. One of the owners came out personally to measure our kitchen. What an awesome personal and business touch. They did not sell us, they took the time to make sure we had everything we wanted.
We were not ready for installation when the cabinets arrived. Again no pressure. They waited until we were completely ready and scheduled an installation date. Marshall and the crew were prompt, courteous, professional and it was a pleasure spending the day with them as they worked diligently and very hard. They made sure there were no flaws and asked us for our input on a variety of things. This was such a pleasurable experience.
Our kitchen is gorgeous and now we can't wait for the granite to be installed. Limpus is the best. We had used a competitor for our basement and we wish we had known about Limpus because they sure would have gotten our business.
We highly recommend Limpus Cabinets for all and any of your needs. We will be using them again for our bathrooms.
Thanks guys & gals at Limpus, you are simply the best!!
It went really well! They are a family run company and were so easy to work with. They were very professional and polite and reminded me of my family which was comforting. We felt like we got way more than our moneys worth.
Josh and his father did a great job helping me design and pick out my cabinets. The installation went very well. They provided great communication all along the way and I would highly recommended them.
After seeing the quotes comparing our baseline project to the proposed entirely new kitchen, we were stunned how inexpensive a full remodel would be. The combination of the low price, the friendly nature of the Limpus family, prior Angie's list reviews, and the quality / features they were offering - and we were hooked at that point, and we just needed to finalize our decisions as to exactly what we wanted.
After several trips to their showroom to consider multiple different possibilities and inviting them to our home for measurements, we decided upon a full remodel with Shiloh brand cherry and maple beaded inset cabinets. A different project than we were originally considering as we upgraded the original plans considerably, but it was well worth the money as it substantially upgraded the kitchen and changed the feel of our home.
Installation was also great as a crew of professionals did the entire tear-out and install in one day.
We couldn't be happier. Several friends and family members have asked who did the kitchen work, and I happily recommended Dave and Josh Limpus to each of them.
I had two other area companies come out and give me estimates for cabinets, but their prices were high and I wasn't particularly impressed with their proposals. One company said I'd be without a fully-functional kitchen for up to 4 weeks...what? Why??). I also compared prices at the big-box stores and even online cabinet retailers.
I found a solid surface countertop fabricator in the metro (Premier Surfaces) and was impressed with them, so I asked if they knew of any good sources for cabinets. They referred me to Limpus, and after seeing many positive reviews on Angie's List, we decided to make the drive to the other side of town to their showroom.
We were impressed with the type of cabinets they offered, the price, and the no-pressure/no-nonsense sales team. We had a representative from Limpus come out to take exact measurements, and we went back to the showroom to place our order. I had draft and final renderings sent to me via email as well.
The crew of 5 guys showed up at my house a little before 9 a.m., removed my old counters and cabinets, disconnected the microwave/dishwasher, installed my new cabinets and reconnected the microwave and dishwasher (minus the plumbing). They also connected the under-mount light fixtures to the existing wiring. They were done with everything by 3 p.m. the same day.
If I bought laminate counter tops, they could have installed them today as well. Since we're getting solid surface, there is a week delay for the template and fabrication. Once the counters are in, Limpus will send a plumber to connect the faucet, disposal and dishwasher later that day.
Josh, the guy who processed my order in the showroom and designed our cabinet selections to fit the space, was a member of the installation crew. Actually, I saw and spoke with several members of the crew in the showroom as well.
Rather than subcontract out the labor, they do it themselves. They truly understand their product and stand behind it. How many companies do it this way? I love it.
My cost of materials was $5,689, which included two cabinets with glass fronts (and an interior stain to match the exterior for that cabinet). These are maple cabinets with crown molding on top and an extra trim piece on the bottom to help hide our under-mount light fixtures. Some cabinets are 36" tall and I have a few 42" tall cabinets as well.
The price also included cabinet hardware. My labor charges were $1584, and this includes plumbing work.
I was impressed with Limpus from the initial contact to the installation. They're professional and just plain nice people. No pressure, no games. Just an honest, hard-working family company.
The price of materials was very reasonable. It would have been more expensive at other area companies and big-box stores. The labor charges were quite fair.
Beyond price and quality, I totally appreciate how the demo and installation took place in one day.
I'd absolutely recommend Limpus for any project. I'm trying to think of any constructive criticism I could offer -- and I've got nothing here. Well done!
