He did the work. I was pleased that he didn't try to sell me on spending more money than I needed to for the repair. He was very professional and did the job for a reasonable price.

We were told the installation would take 5 days. It took 12 different days. The transitions into adjoining rooms were very poorly done. The larger issue at hand is that the installer did not level our floor prior to installation even though leveling materials were available. The floor began sinking less than two weeks after we signed off (Nov. 2008). We contacted the floor salesman as well as the installer immediately. We were told the floor needed to go through a heating and a cooling season in order to settle correctly. It only deteriorated more during that time, but we were trying to be patient and wait as told. At the end of the cooling season (Sept. 09) we contacted both the floor salesman from Floorcoverings International, and the installer. The floor salesman, Steve Brenia, no longer worked for FCI and was not interested in talking to us. The installer contacted Shaw. They sent an independent inspector. The inspection report indicates the problem rests with the installer, Fred Plantz. Mr. Plantz upon reading the inspection report told us that he would take up the laminate floor and that we would need to pay to have the leveling done. Then he would reuse the buckling floor pieces or replacements to reinstall the floor. We said we would not pay another dime toward a project that we had already paid for nor were we comfortable reusing old materials with compromised integrity. We then called Shaw ourselves. They sent yet another independent inspector. The report came back and said the problem rests with the installer. We've had the field inspector from Blakley's here. Same conclusion. We now just want our money back plus our kitchen, entryway, bathroom and laundry room returned to it's original state. That means that the floor mouldings will need to be replaced, as well as the doors and door jambs due to the fact that they were undercut to accommodate the laminate floor. We have no faith in Mr. Plantz's ability to put down this type of floor. We have sent a fax to Mr. Plantz stating that we would like our original investment back, plus the cost to return our home to it's original state. He has sent us a letter saying that he will not pay us. I truly wish someone from Angie's would come to my home and see this mess. All reports mentioned above are available for you to look at.

I HAD USED THIS INDEPENDENT SPECIALIST FOR FLOORING ABOUT FIVE YEARS AGO, AND BECAUSE THE WORK AND RESULTS OF THE FLOOR WAS OUTSTANDING, I AGAIN HAD THE LAMINATE INSTALLED BY THEM IN THE SAME HOME, IN ANOTHER ROOM. THE WORK QUALITY IS EXCELLENT AND DONE COMPLETELY IN ONE DAY AS WAS PROMISED. VERY PLEASANT PERSON TO WORK WITH AND HELPFUL AND CONSIDERATE. I DID NOT COMPARE INSTALLATION PRICES OF OTHER COMPANIES WITH THE LAST JOB BECAUSE I WAS SO PLEASED WITH THE FIRST EXPERIENCE AND KNEW THE END RESULTS.

FRED IS A REALLY SWEET PERSON WITH A GREAT PERSONALITY. HE HAS A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR. HE STILL DID THE WORK WITHIN THE TIME FRAME EVEN THOUGH HE LOST OF ONE HIS WORKERS WHEN HE WAS CALLED TO DUTY AFTER THE TERRORIST ATTACK. WE RECOMMEND FRED HIGHLY. ALTHOUGH FRED DOES NOT SELL THE FLOORING, HE CAN TELL YOU ALL ABOUT ANY OF IT AND WHAT WOULD WORK BEST IN YOUR HOME.
