"I'm surprised to read this C grade review. I have photos and documents showing a different perspective on this particular job. Unfortunately, Angie's List doesn't seem to allow me to upload them here. I would be happy to email them to anyone that might be interested. To begin with, the customer asked us to mimic her existing 2 steps on the side of her porch. Only difference was that the new steps were to be 4' wide instead of 3' wide as were the existing existing steps. The number "2" is clearly stated in the estimate. I never saw or heard the word 3 until reading this review. [Member Name Removed] saw the new steps before paying the statement and never mentioned this until now. As a matter of fact, she complimented us texting, "thank you for all your efforts". which I still have a copy of. When her original steps were removed, there was an extremely large boulder that the steps had been poured over. It was impossible to break up without the use of a jackhammer as mentioned. This unforeseen and unanticipated problem was not part of the original scope of work. The subcontractor that was hired does smaller jobs, such as these steps. He does not own a jackhammer as it is rarely needed for this type of work. Had I hired a larger company to do these steps, they might have had a jackhammer on hand but these larger companies tend to charge quite a bit more and I was trying to save her some money on this small project. He did remove the existing steps, but could not break up the underlying boulder In addition, we also repaired a rear porch slab that should actually have been removed and re-poured. When I arrived to do the job, it had deteriorated quite a bit more than when I originally did the estimate. I told her that I would need to buy an additional bag of patching material to fix the porch at this point, but that I wouldn't add to the labor costs. She texted "Sure I'll pay for the extra material". (No complaints until now.) In short, she was only charged for the materials actually used, no addl. labor was charged for the originally estimated amount of work. I have receipts and photos if anyone is interested. I would love to show everyone the before and after photos and all documentation on this job as I was very pleased with the results. Please email me!"
Brad was great. He responded quickly to our request for an estimate. His estimate proved to be accurate. He scheduled the work to begin quickly, and actually, began the work several days before he had anticipated. All work was satisfactorily completed in a timely manner. Brad is exceptionally respectful of time, space, and cleanliness (leaving the work site cleaned up). He has a great spirit to go long with excellent skill.
