The air conditioning hadn't been kicking on. They think that's what actually is the problem now. It's warranty, and they're trying to make it right. They've been trying to be very nice. I like that they came when they were suppose to, and they worked with my mother that day to get it fixed. I think they are doing their best.

I liked that they were quick about getting a team out here. They weren't hard to get initially, but after that it kind of went all over the place. There were a lot of issues that had to be resolved. I thought the price was fairish, I don't think it was excessive. There have been three or four or five call backs. They're saying a lot of stuff is manufacturer defect, and some errors the installation crew made originally, but there not, clearly none of the stuff is their fault, I mean, a lot of things have gone on, a lot of stemming from issues I can't identify. They've done some really great work for us over the years but some have not turned out well.

Woke up to freezing home. Furnace shut off some time during the night. It was 17 degrees out side. Called my regular HVAC company 3 times and no one returned my call. Friend suggest Ken Maddox. I called and they had a technician out to my home. He repaired the broken switch to my furnace and now it works great.

My confidence in Ken Maddox Heating & Cooling has been shaken, and we will no longer use them. We were happy with Maddox for the 21 years they maintained our system they installed with the house was built. When the furnace stopped working, we called them. The new furnace is working but I need to warn others about our experience.
One technician spent most of his time in our bathroom and referred to me twice as elderly. I'm 57, really? So I was surprised when they left a mess for this "elderly" woman to clean up. Pieces of wire were left on floor under where the thermostat was installed and the throw rug they asked to use in place of one of their drop cloths they left in another vehicle. Pieces of insulation scattered through the house from inspecting the attic, muddy footprints on the kitchen floor, screws on the driveway. They asked to use our rags to mop up water in the furnace room then just left them in the garage. Since they did not program the thermostat as promised, we had to call Maddox for the manual.  Instead of bringing it to the door, the manual was left in our mailbox.
There are other things that left me in a state of disbelief, but the most important was after they left there were items missing from our garage. Whether or not it was one of these technicians, or someone who just wandered into our garage while they were there, Maddox is aware of the situation and has reimbursed us for those items.  Still it is that very uncomfortable feeling of being violated by a company we trusted for 21 years.  And THAT is hard to get past.

Technician was prompt and courteous.  He explained the issues once he diagnosed them and honestly told me what could and couldn't be repaired.  He replaced the freon in the AC and explained that since our unit is 28 years old that the leak will continue to worsen and parts are no longer available to repair the unit as well as it wouldn't be cost effective.  He was honest and up-front with his assessment- greatly appreciated!  AC working much better now, just hoping we can get another year out of it!  Will call Ken Maddox again when it finally needs to be replaced!

They're still crawling underneath the house trying to fix it. We still have a room that's very cold.
They installed the furnace using the original pipes and conduits but they're two different systems so they should have installed a new system.
I asked for a humidifier but they put in a humidistat instead.

My daughter called Ken Maddox Heating & Air Conditioning and they said they could not come until the next day. Therefore, she called another company and they told her that all things were damaged, $800 in parts, no guarantee, and recommended a new unit. They said they could come back the next day and install the new unit and it would be anywhere between $5000-$7000 and they went away to be back the next day. Ken Maddox Heating & Air Conditioning happened to show up at her door the same day and she wanted to know what they thought about the whole thing. They checked up the air conditioner and said the capacitor system was overtaxed due to the extremely hot weather and said they could repair that and it will be $270. They repaired the system and her air conditioning system is working ever since.

We noticed that little to no air was coming through the vent in the bedroom farthest from the blower.  We called Maddux Heating because they were the ones that installed the system several years ago.  After checking things out in the attic, we were told that they wanted to replace the duct work with some larger duct work, so that more air would be pulled into the room.  When we asked for an estimate, we were told that the technician thought  it would be done under an extended warranty.  I did have to call a few times to get in touch with the boss to confirm that there was no charge, but once I simply explained what I wanted to know to the receptionist, she got an answer for me and called me back the next day.  I was a little skeptical that we'd notice a difference in the air flow and was afraid we'd have to get a stronger blower, but it does seem to have helped.  There is noticeable air flow coming from the vent in the room now.  Technicians were always friendly and fairly prompt.

I had to have a technician out 3 times to try to get the unit working properly.  First time, he cleaned it and said all was ok.  8 hours later, no change in the temperature inside the home.  I had to call back and call back and call back again to get someone to respond. 

Second time the same tech returned and said a seal had come loose on the unit outside.  He corrected this and again, gave the system the all clear.  The system cooled for one day before it no longer continued to cool properly.

Began calling and calling and calling again to get the tech back out for yet a 3rd visit (all with taking time off from work) to which THEN he found a leak in the wall and the entire wall in the master bedroom would have to be torn out. 

As to be expected, the seller would not be responsible for the repair, which was fine.  However, it would have been great to have had a diagnosis of the repair needed on the FIRST service call so that so much time and my personal time wouldn't have been wasted.

I had no actual cash loss on this service; however, the gas driving to and from work to come home early to meet the tech over and over and over along with my missed  time from work.

I will not be using Ken Maddox in the future.

He very easy could have sold us a new furnace, but he went ahead and fix our old one. We appreciated that he didn't try to sell us anything. He came out himself and had 3 guys carry out the old parts and replace them. He went above and beyond to get the new parts. We were very pleased.

Had issues from the start. System was poorly designed and although they responded well to calls, they were never willing or able to solve the issues of incorrectly sized duct work and too small of return. The way our system was installed, our only option is to use a standard 1" replaceable filter. However, when we would install one, our furnace would shut down. The reason, inadequate return airflow. We questioned Maddox and were told that we could not use a standard 1" pleated filter because they restricted airflow too much and must use a cheap fiber glass filter in order to satisfy the airflow needs of the system. This was unacceptable since that type of filter does little to remove smaller allergens and dust from the air. After approx 3 years of them trying, unsuccessfully to remedy the situation, we finally decided to use someone else. After evaluating the installation, their recommendation was to open up the return duct as well as modify some of the other supply duct work to help balance the system. Once these changes were made, the system has worked without issue.

They were $2,000.00 cheaper than the other estimates that I received. Everything has went fine so far. I was really happy with the service. They got right on it, because we knew Winter was coming. They were very timely. They installed a programmable thermostat that wasn't included in the original estimate, it was just supposed to be a normal thermostat. They installed the programmable thermostat at no extra charge.

MADDOX INSTALLED OUR HEATING AND A/C WHEN WE BUILT OUR HOUSE THROUGH A REPUTABLE CUSTOM BUILDER. WHEN THEY INSTALLED THE RETURN DUCT TO THE FURNACE, IT WAS SIZED TOO SMALL FOR THE FURNACE. 2 YEARS AFTER LIVING IN OUR HOUSE THE MOTOR IN OUR FURNACE WENT OUT, AND WE HAD TO PAY APPROX. $700-800 TO GET IT REPLACED BECAUSE OF MADDOX'S ERROR. THEY DID NOT COMPENSATE US FOR THEIR ERROR, BUT DID NOT CHARGE US TO FIX THE DUCT. IN FACT THE REPAIRMAN, WHO CAME OUT TO FIX THE DUCT, SAID HE THOUGHT IT WAS JUST FINE, UNTIL CALLING THE OFFICE TO FIND OUT IT WAS INDEED TOO SMALL. WILL NEVER USE MADDOX. BASSETT REPAIRMAN KNEW THE REASON THE MOTOR WENT OUT AND WAS VERY WELL EDUCATED AND PROFESSIONAL. WILL ONLY USE BASSETT FROM NOW ON.

PROBLEMS WERE ENCOUNTERED WITH OUR NEW HOME'S AIR CONDITIONER AND FURNACE. FURNACES THAT WERE INSTALLED DID NOT MATCH THE CONTROL PADS. WE HAD PROBLEMS GOING INTO THE SUMMER AND INTO THE WINTER WITH THE HEAT AND AIR NOT TURNING ON PROPERLY. MANY TRIPS AND HOURS FINALLY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. AN EXTRA AIR FILTER WAS MISSING. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR 6 MONTHS FOR IT. STILL NOT HERE. I WILL PROBABLY HIRE AGAIN ONLY BECAUSE THEY KNOW THE PROBLEMS WITH THE FURNACE MIX UP.
