The experience was great. I've worked with other builders and they only cared about the bottom dollar. John Eaton Homes took what I wanted and made it workable home. The finished product was great. I stayed within budget and still love my house. John gave me ideas that bettered my house and made the flow work well.

John Eaton has a passion for remodeling older homes. I spoke to other contractors that did not get excited about my vision for the house, but John did get excited and made it happen!

I purchased a home that had been remodeled/flipped by John Eaton Homes. On the surface, it's a beautiful home and is new from top to bottom. But, in the 6 months that we have lived in the home, we've encountered one problem after another and our new home has become a nightmare.
The AC went out on day 1 and after calling John, he sent someone to get it running again. We appreciated that and felt comfortable calling him the next week when we encountered a serious clog/overflow in the bathroom. Water had erupted from the toilet, shower and sink, flooding the bathroom and even leaked into the basement. The plumber who did the work determined that it was caused by construction debris blocking the pipes. John offered to reimburse me for the work (roughly $300), which was again appreciated. I sent the invoice to him, but we never received a check.
Problem #3 the newly installed garbage disposal has never sounded right so we rarely use it.
Problem #4 one of the light switches was sparking inside the wall. Luckily we caught this early and it was a relatively easy fix.
Problem #5 was significant leakage in the and quot;finished basementand quot;. Prior to the remodel the basement in this home was unfinished. We've identified 3 points of entry so I assume the problem existed before they decided to finish it. If there was not evidence of leakage prior to the remodel, then the landscaping work performed caused some serious drainage issues. Another issue we've identified with the basement leakage was poor installation of the sump pump discharge. The evacuation pipe, which is buried under the ground, is leaking and water is just pooling up next to the house. Estimates for fixing the drainage and leakage problems are over $12,000, not including the $2,500 we've spent on remediation and clean up efforts or the cost to re-landscape after all the work is done.
I understand that some things just happen and that unexpected repairs are just part of home ownership, but this goes beyond that. It's very frustrating to spend so much money on a new home and to encounter this many issues, especially when so much of the work was recently done. I'm sitting on pins an needles waiting for the next catastrophe to happen.

I hired John Eaton Homes because of their reputation for very high quality and customer satisfaction.
John Eaton came out with a couple of his employees to look at the job and give us ideas. I was impressed right away with their approach and professionalism. They spent an incredible amount of time and effort to make certain every aspect of our vision was incorporated into the plans. No detail was left out and I never felt rushed or pressured. Johns extensive knowledge, and that of his employees was invaluable in getting the job done the right way, selecting the correct materials, and maximizing our value for the money spent.
John has his own crew, most of which have worked with him for many years. They really enjoy what they do which transposes into the pride of high quality work they perform. This was an extensive job and we quickly became very comfortable with everyone, which was very important to me when it was only my wife at home. Every employee was very thoughtful and took the extra time to clean up every evening before they left. In addition, John was on the job site, working as hard as the others, nearly the entire time. A rarity in contractors these days.
Our home was built in the 70's and there were many structrual defects that we found as we went. John could have easily charged me much much more in extras, but did not.
The list of what they did is too extensive to write here but here is a short-list:
*Complete design and proper permits.
*Remove siding, re-wrap complete exterior, and replace with new concrete board and natural stone.
*Change roof to allow for overhang of stone walls.
*Install all new guttering.
*Correct structural problems to framing, insulation, wiring and design.
*Fasten garage to foundation and replace sill plate.
*Remove and replace broken stone from fireplace.
*Replace ceiling joist and jack up corner and rebuild.
*Install new Pella windows and new detail trim inside.
*Install new all glass doors in entry and install new header in garage along with new door.
*Remove wall, build out new overhang, and install 10' tall windows in rear of house.
*Install 13' automatic awning.
*Paint outside of house, and all new inside trim.
*Provide dumsters and removal of all debris.
*Complete cleanup to extreme detail including cleaning all new windows. I have yet to find a single nail in the yard!
I can not stress our satisfaction in John Eaton and his entire crew. In fact, we consider John a friend now and will be using him exclusively in the future. I welcome anyone considering him to come look at what he has done for us.

John Eaton Homes did a great job. The screened porch and deck look fantastic! We continue to receive compliments on it (and it was built almost 2 years ago).
Once we finalized the plans and materials, the project took about 2 1/2 - 3 weeks to complete. The quality of the work seems very good - we were able to watch it on a daily basis. The crew was friendly and wasn't intrusive in any way. They did a good job keeping the site (our backyard!) clean. John was on site most days. He is very knowledgeable and was very patient with all of our questions. He communicated well and responded to all of our inquiries in a timely fashion.
He was great to work with. Near the end of the job, there was a problem with the work his electrical subcontractor did but he acknowledged that and ended up making it right. Problems will always arise so it is nice when you see someone understand that. I've had experience with another builder who just made up excuses for their problems but John did a good job in recognizing the problem, fixing it, and making sure we were satisfied.
Overall, it was a great experience. I have no complaints or reservations about using John Eaton Homes. If we ever have a major building project again, we would definitely seek them out. As far as the project, itself, goes we really don't have any regrets there, either. Now, I wish we would have made the screening on the deck with removable panels. It isn't right now and the screen is now loose in numerous places and we'll have to figure out how to tighten it back up. Going with an aluminum screen or removable panels might have made a difference. That doesn't detract from our enjoyment of it - it just means we have some additional maintenance to do every few years.
Again, John Eaton Homes did a great job for us and we thank John and his crew. We would definitely work with them again.
