Wow......I'm usually one to read reviews before I hire a company. This time I failed to do so and had to pay for it. After speaking with Brenda on the phone about the situation with my generator, we agreed to have one of their techs come out and fix the situation. The previous company already had $600 into this when they finally advised I needed a new board. By what I explained to her on the phone, IPS & S was sure I needed the control board replaced. They were $90 cheaper on the part than my other company, and she said they charge $90/hr for service. I thought, this was a no brainer. I scheduled them to come out ASAP and make the repair. When the bill came, it was $300 more than expected. WHY? Because Brenda, from the office, failed to tell me that they also charge a $1.25/mile trip fee (to and from their west side location), plus the $90/hr is from when they leave the facility to when they get back. Your paying for that too.......just hope they do not run into a traffic jam. When I called to complain about the extra charge that I did not know about, Brenda claimed I must have not heard her when she told me. I did not hear her because she DID NOT tell me. Had I of known that up front, I would have stayed with the company I already had invested $600 with. Brenda said, "but our part is $90 cheaper." True, but when you add in the extra $300 travel fee, they were actually a lot more expensive. Then somehow we got magically disconnected as we were discussing the bill issue. I called back 4 times before someone finally answered and I got back in touch with Brenda. After being on hold for several minutes, they agreed to take $90 off my bill. At this point I had to let them go ahead and finish it since he already had the unit tore apart in my yard.....and putting it back together was going to cost me the $300 anyway, without the repair. UGG! Let me say this......I think the tech guy did a great job. Got the part replaced and installed in less than 30 minutes. If you ever decide to hire this company......get everything quoted in writing. I failed to do that, my fault, and it cost me. Brenda's last comment to me was, "now if we ever come out again to repair something, at least you will know what our charges are." Guess what???? I won't be calling them anyway. I see why they are have 1 star reviews. I would not recommend!!!

I wouldn't recommend Indiana Power Service & Supply, Inc because they are in business to rip off customers for their hard earned money. Upon purchasing my home that gratefully came with an 8kW Generac system included and the seller explained to us the minor issue the system currently had. I reached out to Indiana Power Service & Supply, and exclaimed the issue and when the technician (Richie) arrived, I did my best to explain the issue has traced to the choke plate (located in the air filter assembly) "sticking". He begins to evaluate the system as a whole, and said the issue is related to the gas regulator and said a new unit needed to be purchased. I respected his expertise and went along with his diagnosis, they replaced the gas regulator on the second and the battery on the third and the generator still wouldn't clank (start). Bare in mind, Indiana Power Service & Supply charges $90 trip charge and $30 for fuel for each trip and I'm $500+ into this repair. Finally, on the fourth trip, they recommend I replace the choke place in the filter assembly. What a coincidence, I explained that to them when they arrived and after spending $500 in parts, labor and trip charges, they finally landed there. I finally told them to get off my property you thieve. They are robbing working class people of their money. They could have fixed this issue for under $150 and keep me as a customer instead, they choose the latter. Indiana Power Service & Supply, Inc. I will NEVER recommend Indiana Power Service & Supply, Inc. to anyone. While our generator was repaired, the cost of the bill is obscene!!! $400 of the $700 bill was charged as labor and travel time between their company and our home. I was charged two trip charges because the service man, "did not have the part on his truck." When I called to dispute the charges, the representative rudely said, "did you ask if there would be trip charges?" I said no, because that is their responsibility to commuinate that information to the customer when booking the service." The representative said she would "ask the boss to review the bill." Shortly thereafter I received a phone call from the representative and she said, "the bill stands."
The entire encounter was so disappointing. There are other competitors in Indiana with better pricing and better customer service. Do your research and trust me, don't bother calling Indiana Power & Supply, inc. they are a waste of your time and money.

Indiana Power Service & Supply were really good. It is a small company and you deal with only 2 people. The one guy sizes the generator and goes through all the equipment you are going to hook up to it in an emergency and really works to not sell you the biggest model. He really worked with me to get what I needed. His brother is the that actually works on the generator and is there when it is hooked up. He works with the electrician to make sure everything works and that it starts up. He ran the gas line to the generator and told me how it would work. It is all automatic and he knows the ins and outs of it. He is the operations guy. I talked with him about being in the service.

The rep. that came to my home to give me an estimate was on time, polite, clean, knowledgable and explained every step of the installation from start to finish. He answered all questions i had about the generator. The installation crew also was very professional. clean, polite, and on tiome. They also cleaned their work area and never left any type of mess. Great experience.

I would not use them if they were the last people on earth. They failed to do the work for the price they quoted me. I had to have some extra work done which involved a plumber I hired and which they approved of. I will not use them again in the future.

Installation went poorly:
1) They tore up my yard while moving the unit into place. Cost me $200 to replace sod on my and my neighbors yard, not to mention the embarrassment. They did not gain permission to drive on my neighbors yard.
2) They dropped the unit as they were setting on the pad.
3) It cost me an additional $460 to have the gas service reworked after it was done according to their exact instructions so that the rest of my gas appliances in the house would work properly.
During the problems, the installer kept telling me "Don't worry, we will take care of you".
The brother of the installer is the President of the company and made the decision not to reimburse me. He was never on the job site and had no clue about how and why the problems occured.
