I was satisfied with my experience with the owner from the first interview and cost estimate to the end of the project.

The quality of the work was excellent.  Any concerns I might have had were addressed immediately and in a satisfactory way

The people working on the project were punctual.  I put my trust in Mr Heirbrandt's construction company  and I was not disappointed.

Quick and efficient.  This has been ten years and there are NO cracks in the driveway.  Excellent work.

I am extremely happy with the work performed. The contractor was responsive at every step, from the initial estimate to scheduling work. Bill offered several excellent suggestions for making the project even better. His crews showed up when promised every day and were polite and friendly to me and my family. Even though we slightly expanded the original scope of work and the crew ran into an unforeseen condition (the existing apron was much thicker than anyone expected), Bill did not increase the project cost. He made frequent visits to the site to ensure that everything was going well. And when the work was completed, they did a great job of cleaning up.
I would hire them again and would recommend them without hesitation. High-quality work and nice people at a fair price.

He was very good about the work.  He even tried to work it out, so he didn't feel the repair was necessary.  It was a money saving for me.  He was that way too.  He was trying to do a good job.  In certain cases, he did suggest that I didn't really need to change or repair it or do it over again.  The quality of his work and the way he handled himself was fine.  He was competitive with the other bids and I was satisfied with that.  It was raining when he was doing the work and he couldn't do the work.  He told that he had to wait for the rains to get over.  He communicated well with me.  Once the rain stopped, he said he would be here and he was here.  He documented everything and we kept track of it together, so I felt that was very professional.  He was here for several days in the row and got the job done.  He had to go out to get the railings done and he took the measurements.  He took a little time to get it done, but it was fine.

Bill brought pictures of previous jobs to our home giving us ideas on what we could do with our patio, then scketched out the plan and set the expectations correctly.  He lived up to his word!

They were extremely lat in terms of providing service. We actually had to get a lawsuit involved to get them to finish the work because they left it undone. They would come and ask for money because he said he needed money. At specific stage we'd pay him, obviously we didn't pay him the full amount, but periodically he'd need money to go forward. Then we'd give him money but he would not go forward. I am assuming that he was using that either for his own personal expenses or some other project. But quality of the construction was good, not having problems with that. But, for instance, he had a backhoe standing in our backyard for just about greater than a year. The project took over two years to complete. Only after we filed a lawsuit against him he did the work.
Response from HEIRBRANDT CONSTRUCTION CO INC
"We were contacted by the Burkholders to investigate a problem in the crawlspace at the back of their home where water was undermining the foundation and washing mud into their crawlspace. He was trying to pump it out each time it rained. To repair this issue would be to re-do the foundation under the back of the house which was an area approx. 16'X30'; which meant we must support the back of the house while removing the existing foundation. The decision was made that since half of the crawlspace was already excavated; that putting in a basement would be a worthwhile sollution. On the east side of the main floor was a masonry fireplace, hearth & chimney which must be supported while we were excavating under it, and then pour a new footing and re-lay block up to the foundation of the fireplace. During the preliminary discussions with Mr. Burkholder, a decision was made to extend the basement further behind his house an extra 12' and pour a concrete patio over the basement that extended beyond the back of the house. A contract was signed according to those discussions. Since the house was built into the side of the hill; there was no physical access from the front of the property to the back of the house. Access was aquired through a housing addition and a farmers field into their backyard. Delays were encountered during the construction of this project with over 36" of rain spread out over the construction period. We did what we could do when the weather co-operated. At different intervals there were periods of times(sometimes a week or more) when we could not have access to the job. However; we had the footings and foundations completed except for some block on the back wall. I did temporarily cover the exposed patio area with concrete blankets, insulation and visqueen when winter set in. There was only a period of 21 days that the back of the house (including the chimney) that there was no footing or foundation under them. We did no work except maintain the exposed areas during the winter months. The next spring we finished laying the block on the south wall and poured the patio area by pumping the concrete from the street, because it was still too muddy. When it dried up enough where we could get access to the backyard again, we graded the whole area. When I presented my bill to the Burkholders, they said since the work wasn't done on a timely bases, they refused payment. During the time of delay on this project, customer extended to me additional payments beyond the 3 scheduled payments of the contract; but refused to pay the balance due when we completed the project in the spring of the next year. It has been more than 10 years now and they seem satisfied with the work I had performed. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try to please a customer; you always have those few you cannot satisfy. Mr Heirbrandt came out to give me an estimate on doing this "small" job. It was considered small in comparison to most of the projects he typically does. We discussed what I was wanting to have done and he showed me pictures of some of the larger jobs he had done previously. Prior to initiating the work project he sent me a letter with an estimate on the cost and also a diagram on what he proposed to do. Both items were satisfactory. On the day work was to begin, Mr Heirbrandt and his workers arrived on time. Over the next two to three days they worked diligently and efficiently. Mr Heirbrandt was on scene assisting with the project and supervising his employees. The work area was left neat and clean. I would definitely recommend this company and would use them again should a need arise.

Bill and his crew did a great job with the various projects I needed done on my house. The quality on all 5 things done is excellent. Adding the walk-in door to my garage was especially complicated as a roof dormer needed to be added since the height of my garage is too low to just cut out the concrete block wall to add a door; the roof needed to be cut out as well. The door is solid and has no problems opening or closing. The rest of the projects were done in a timely fashion and I'm very pleased with them, and plan on having him come back to do some more extensive work later. The crew stayed to work well past expectations...at one point not leaving until after 6 pm. I highly recommend Bill and his crew for various home improvement jobs that you may need done!

ONCE WE CONTACTED MR. HEIRBRANDT AND DESCRIBED WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR HE CAME TO OUR HOUSE THE NEXT EVENING AND SUBMITTED HIS BID THE FOLLOWING DAY. HIS PRICE WAS VERY COMPETITIVE WITH ANOTHER BID WE RECEIVED. AT OUR REQUEST HE DROVE US TO SEVERAL LOCATIONS WHERE HE HAD DONE SIMILAR WORK AND LET US EXAMINE THE DRIVEWAYS "UP CLOSE". THE SITES WE EXAMINED RANGED IN AGE FROM A FEW WEEKS TO SEVERAL YEARS. WE WERE PLEASED TO NOTE THAT IN VIRTUALLY EVERY LOCATION, ONCE HE HAD DONE WORK FOR ONE HOUSEHOLD HE SUBSEQUENTLY DID WORK FOR ONE, TWO, OR MORE NEIGHBORS. HE WAS NOT ONLY VERY PROFESSIONAL, BUT WAS ALSO VERY PERSONABLE. HIS CREW WORKED QUICKLY AND WELL, MINIMIZING DISRUPTION TO US AND TO OUR NEIGHBORS. WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS.

THE REASON WE WENT WITH HIM WAS BECAUSE HE WAS EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE, EVEN THOUGH HIS PRICE WERE A LITTLE HIGHER. HE CAME BACK TO MAKE SURE WE WERE SATISFIED. HE ALSO INSTALLED A CEMENT SEALANT AND GAVE US INFORMATION ON HOW TO CARE FOR THE DRIVEWAY.
