Great job.  Three guys showed up in a truck, brought a cart up to my server room, and stacked up and hauled away all the old stuff I had staged prior to their arrival.  Easy, eco-friendly way to get rid of old computer junk.

I had old computer equipment to be recycled. This company had a drop off available on Saturdays. I called to confirm and they were helpful and friendly. When I drove up, a staff member wheeled a cart out to my car and loaded the equipment to be recycled. He answered my questions about what would be done with the equipment.

Green Wave is located in a safe, easy-to-find office park. The attendants were friendly and helpful, unloading all my equipment from my car. They accepted a variety of used electronic materials, including computers, monitors, old cell phone batteries, and various kinds of cords. I recommend them to everyone who needs to dispose of old computer equipment.

There was no charge. They were fine. When I called them about dropping them off, they talked about giving me some kind of receipt because part of what they do is supposedly destroy the hard drive in the computer. They only take them in from the public one day a week and they really didn't give me anything and I asked for it. I think with the receipt they were supposed to follow up with me later confirming that the hard drive had been destroyed and that was part of the reason I took it there. I need to call them again to get more assurances that's what they are doing. They just seemed to be taking everything in and not figuring anything out with that. I was kind of disappointed in that. Supposedly they harvest other parts out of the computer. I just had their word that they destroy the hard drive. I have no suspicion that anything was done wrong but I think they should have given more feedback. They did answer the phone when I called them. I wouldn’t use them again unless I talked to them.

My wife insisted I get rid of my old, broken external computer hard drive that was just taking up storage space. I had bought it to back-up my computer and store music and movie files on, ensuring that if my computer ever crashed or stopped working, I'd still have all my information. Unfortunately, she had knocked it over while it was in the process of writing a file, which damaged it and made it completely broken. Since that time, about six months ago, I'd been unsure of how to dispose of it. I didn't want to just throw it in the trash, as most computer components have elements like mercury, lead and other heavy metals that can leach into the ground with decay. I also didn't want to just drop it off at the free electronic drop-offs offered around town, because they don't disclose what they do with your materials after they accept them. I was concerned about having personal info on the hard drive that someone could somehow lift from the hard drive and steal my identity. So after searching online I found Green Wave's website, which detailed how they completely destroy and then recycle old electronics. Their process was a perfect fit for my concerns. I called ahead and found out it wasn't free (like at other places), but it would only cost a dollar for an external hard drive. For the identity protection aspect, a dollar seemed like a sound investment. I ended up getting there just as they had locked the door at the end of business hours, but they saw me try the door and opened back up to take my gear. They told me a little more about the process - which, as I understand, is like a wood chipper - and took my hard drive and all the wires and original packaging to recycle. They were friendly and professional, and they offer an excellent service if you're looking to help out the environment and keep your identity safe. Thanks guys!
