Gardens of Growth Inc
About us
Gardens of Growth is a successful landscape architecture design/build firm based in Indianapolis, Indiana. The firm was founded in 2003 by husband and wife team Adam Garvey and Casey May, who met while studying landscape architecture at Ball State University. We remain committed to acting as both designer and contractor for our projects. While most design/build firms are dominated by contractors, Gardens of Growth is unique in that we are designers first. We approach the design/build process as ‘Master Builders’, where the process of landscape architecture is a holistic approach, with careful attention paid to each phase of the design and construction process. This holistic approach to design and construction provides greater financial and aesthetic control. Beautiful spaces are created when each and every component of the landscape is carefully designed and executed.

Once scheduled, Chris and his time arrived promptly and worked all day--past 7:00--to be sure all was done to our satisfaction. There was some confusion on plants--a few too many and a few the wrong color--but Chris made sure the project was done as specified in the original plan. He is a delight! He obviously loves what he does and is dedicated to making sure his clients are happy. He watered everything after it was planted, then blew off the deck, patio--even the garage! I would hire Chris, specifically, in a heartbeat!
After a month, I had not heard back, so I followed up myself. The designer was working "hard to get caught up." The designer e-mailed me plans a week later. The plans were for a planter for the front porch, a pathway for the side of my home, and replacing the shrub in the front yard. The replacement for the shrub was a hydrangea, although I have a hydrangea in the center of my front yard and opposite side of the home. I didn't think it would provide much variety. But after waiting 6 weeks on a plan, I decided to go with the expert. I mailed in a deposit for $1000 with the hope this would accelerate the timetable. I made no plans for taking a summer vacation to ensure I would be home when the work was completed. My only "deadline" was that my parents would be visiting this summer, and I hoped to have something nice done by then. I followed up to inquire about the timetable for the work. There was none, but I was informed it would be a few weeks. I replied that I would take care of the yard maintenance myself if it could not be done before my parents visited. Long story short, my parents are here, I have no pathway, no planter and no hydrangea. I did the yard maintenance myself. I asked for my deposit back. My deposit was refunded, minus the cost of the planter. That is fine, except that I still don't have the planter! Allegedly the planter was received by Gardens of Growth on Tuesday, and should have been delivered this week. It is now Friday, I'm out $750, and I don't have the planter I could have ordered myself and had shipped in April. I could have also used one of the empty planters from my backyard that Gardens of Growth did not fill. There are no plans for the back courtyard, which would have been lovely to use during the wonderful weather we are having.
When I attempt to contact Gardens of Growth office by phone, I'm transferred to the designer's voice mail. No attempt to help me, no courtesy or responsiveness.
They also suggested a priority of work to be complete based on what would add the most value to our house and what we would get the most use out of first.
We did pay for the master plan, but they offer us reimbursement discounts should we choose them to do the work.
We asked for flexibility so that we could do parts of the plan ourselves and rely on them (or other contractors) to do other parts. They were very helpful in giving us suggestions here too.
I would highly recommend this company.
Gardens of Growth provided me with a beautiful extension to my outdoor living area. They kept me informed of when they would arrive, the work that would be completed, and answered any questions I had. Each day they cleaned the work area and kept me informed of the next day's schedule.
They have been great to work with during this project. I would call on them again and recommend them highly.
