Brent came as a recommendation from Handy Randy Home Service for removing some bushes.  Brent arrived on time and did a complete job on the bushes, digging out the stumps by hand.  It was a long day of hard work for a great price, about $250.  Brent is a friendly, gregarious guy.  He's the type of small-business owner you can't help but root for.  He asked what the plan was for the space and when the idea of a patio came up he convinced us he would be perfect for the job.
A week or so later, work commenced on the patio.  Gravel and sand was applied.  He mentioned having some left over stones from a different job and started spacing those out in place.  He needed to buy materials so we made a couple up front payments.  Weather brought a pause to the work, then an unexpected surgery put on a full stop.  After 6 weeks of no communication, we started to get concerned and changed the tone of our calls.
Meanwhile, my confidence in his abilities was waning.  What I originally thought was simply spacing stones ahead of grading the bed, I started to suspect was actually the finished product - stones haphazardly laid into a completely uneven base.
When he finally got back in touch with us, he admitted the surgery was an excuse.  He promised to make good on our payments and either finish the job or pay us back incrementally a month at a time.  I decided not to have him finish and I have no expectation of ever seeing that money again.
On a final note, I had several contractors out to estimate work to finish the patio.  Every single one couldn't believe how amateurish and totally wrong was the "work" that had been done.  And each of them included a line item, charging nearly what I'd originally paid, to undo what Brent had done.
I should know better.  It can happen to anyone, but never yield.  Get a quote in writing.  Get a signed contract for every job.  And always check Angie's List first!

Did show up but not on planned days.  Only completed part of the work.  Poor communication, no response to calls and e-mails and just seem to disappear!

I paid him $300 up front for the purchase of a tree and for him to put the tree in. As of 06/24/15 I paid him up front. Since then the check has been cashed but he has not put my tree in and I have called and emailed multiple times with no response.

Brent is excellent to work with for about any exterior lawn/property project.  Give him a shot and I think you will agree. He's pretty centrally located so he can be to most parts of the city pretty fast.

Brent came and cleaned my driveway and sidewalks!! It was nice coming home from work and not having to shovel!! Even cleared a path to the doors where there was no walkway!

It was a good experience, and everything went well.  Brent and his team had a positive and can-do attitude, they did a great job, and they were very knowledgeable and helpful.  Furthermore, he was upfront and honest, and he has good connections in the industry.  In fact, Brent connected us with a great individual to help with part of a tree that had fallen on a power line.  Ultimately, he's done such a good job that we've hired him for additional work.

If not for Angie's List, I would not have found this gem of a company!  Garden Works went above and beyond, providing additional service at no extra charge.  They were prompt, very polite and it was an excellent value.  I have already recommended them to friends and will continue to do so.  It is my hope they receive the Super Savers Award because they certainly deserve it.  There was a lot of work to be done on my house and they completed the whole project in record time and with a fantastic attitude.

They did a great job, worked hard and long hours to get the work done quickly so we'd still have time to plant grass and trees before the fall. Brent even lent us some of his hoses since we do not have a sprinkler system. On the whole we are trying to encourage the growth of native plants and trees, and minimize use of chemicals in the yard. Brent understood and appreciated our intentions and worked with us to give us what we wanted.

Did the work I initially wanted. Quoted me price for additional work. Performed additional work. Got work done quickly. Very professional. Awaiting stump removal which service provider typically does several weeks after job completion. This is fine, but would prefer stumps be removed fairly quickly after trees taken down. Would hire again. Very personable.

Took several attempts to get in contact with the Service provider. No-call no-showed for my appointment. Going to get a refund through Angie's List.

They were very punctual and the deal worked real well for me. They were friendly and did every spot I asked them to clean up. They even brought back some mulch for me when I asked. They were also easy to schedule with.

Brent and his helpers have been great.  He has done a lot of work for me this spring in getting my yard cleaned and spruced up for me to put it on the market.  Brent is very personable and a hard worker.  Tim, his assistant, also worked very hard doing a good job. I will have them do some work for me at my new place.
