"Mr. [Member Name Removed], we want to apologize for the leftover trash in your basement. Our drywall installer always leaves leftover material for the client & did not anticipate it being considered trash. It was inconsiderate of the crew lead to mention this costing more. This was handled & discussed with the crew lead as well as the client. We apologize & accept responsibility for this issue. The rest of the review & grading of the project is 150% inaccurate & misleading. We feel the challenges of this project are revealed in Mr. [Member Name Removed] beginning statement of this review by singling out the "Hispanic crew". Often, the crew was referred to as "Mexicans" by Mr. [Member Name Removed]. We feel this is very inappropriate & disrespectful of our hardworking crew members. In reference to the "estimate does not cover this or that" & "extra payment", this is because you were in fact requesting MORE work that was not in the initial scope. It is common practice to create a Change Order to request additional compensation for the additional work that is being requested. Where the disagreement was with the client is he "thought" & "assumed" that 3 walls of custom arrows were included in the proposal. The proposal clearly & specifically stated "the wall opposite of the door" not 3 walls. Mr. [Member Name Removed], when questioned if he read the proposal & the details included, admitted twice to "not reading the proposal". So the statements of asking for additional payment is very misleading when the client admitted to NOT reading the proposal & the details provided as to the scope of the project. We detail EVERY proposal to ensure EVERY client knows the full scope. When you sign & accept our proposal, it states "I acknowledge that I have FULLY read and understand the terms of this proposal". This was not the case here in that the client stated that he did not read the proposal. In conclusion, our company is confident that we fully executed the details outlined in the proposal/contract that Mr. [Member Name Removed] agreed to when he signed & accepted the bid."
"[Member Name Removed], thank you so much for your kind words! It was a pleasure working for you and we look forward to working with you again in the near future!"
"Mrs. [Member Name Removed]. We are very sorry to hear that the reason you gave us a lower grade was for lack of communication. We document all our communication with every client we work for. This project was a 7 day project and included exterior painting (4 days), interior painting/wallpaper removal/window replacement (3 days). In looking at Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s file our Project Manager and Operations Manager spoke with her on the phone a combined 37 times over the course of the project. We talked with our window installer and he recorded 6 calls with Mrs. [Member Name Removed]. There were also 16 emails that were sent between us & Mrs. [Member Name Removed]. We are always looking to improve our business & will definitely see how we can better improve our communication with clients. In regards to the messes/trash that were left the client had called and mentioned that there was tape left in her landscaping, which we promptly addressed. In regards to hardware and heavy curtains being put up our contract with Mrs. [Member Name Removed] clearly stated "All curtains, curtain rods, blinds, shades are to be removed by the client". When Mrs. [Member Name Removed] called and asked for help installing the heavy curtains we immediately offered to help, even though our contract expectations stated otherwise under "Client Responsibilities". Lastly, Mrs. [Member Name Removed] mentioned, during the project, that there were some water spots on her windows. Our Ops Manager immediately offered to have a window cleaning company come and wash all her window exteriors, at no cost to Mrs. [Member Name Removed]. He told her this is what we do to go "above and beyond" for every client. This was a $220 added value we provided for Mrs. [Member Name Removed]. In conclusion, again, we are very sorry to hear you were unhappy with some portions of the project but greatly appreciate you giving us an "A" on price and quality. If we can do anything further to serve you, please don't hesitate to contact us! -Flora Brothers Painting"
"Thank you so much! It was a pleasure working with you. -Team FBP"
"Thank you so much! We are happy you enjoyed our professionalism and the work our team did!"
The painters arrived on time, and quickly got to work. They were pleasant, and very efficient. Within the day, they had completed the work. Aaron then reached out to me to perform a follow up inspection, and to get final payment. During the final inspection, multiple items were pointed out as needing to be touched up. I was told that one of the painters would be back in touch with me to schedule a time.
One of the painters did try scheduling once with me at times that were convenient to him, but very inconvenient for me. I informed him of times that I would be available, and did not hear back from him. Over two weeks went by, and I still had not heard from the painter. It wasn't until I had reached out to Aaron and told him that it needed to be rectified ASAP. He apologized, and one of the painters did reach out to me. Within two days the work was completed. No follow up was ever made to determine if the repairs had been done satisfactorily or not.
It is now 5 months later, and the paint looks horrible. Multiple places that were repaired are needing further work, many places that should have been repaired have been found to have not been. We chose to not have the ceilings repainted at the same time. Aaron told us that they would just cut a straight line, and that any old paint that was on the ceilings would not be covered. This i understood. The new paint that they painters managed to get on the ceiling and trim work was very unexpected. I would have thought that professionals didn't mistakenly paint places that shouldnt have been. I could have done this level of work.
For the color, we picked out a sherwin williams color, and were told that they would find a PPG color that was the same. The color was exactly what we asked for. The sheen however, was never discussed. An omission on our part, I guess. The painter never asked, and just used flat paint. We have small children, and with the paint used, our walls are again needing a fresh coat of paint. There is no cleaning the walls, they just look horrible.
I regret using Flora Brothers, and have told several friends to steer clear of them when it came time to paint. I am once again looking for a quality painter, to come in and fix the job that I just had done.
Update to review, based upon companies comments: The comments made are not misleading. 1.) Deposit was paid to Flora Brothers on 8/31/15. Date work performed, 10/5/15. That is exactly 5 weeks. a.) the deck was quoted on as well, but based upon the price quoted, it was determined that the deck could be replaced for approximately the same. The deck was always quoted as a separate job, one not dependent upon the other. I do not understand what their statements have to do with my review.2.) The schedule was discussed, I agree. Aaron informed me that him and his brother were very busy, and that is why the date was so far away. Multiple comments like this, made me believe that it was him and his brother that would be completing the work. 3.) The quote that was acceptable at the time was because it was going to be Aaron and his brother performing the work, not a sub contractor. 4.) The crew leader made 1 attempt to schedule the repairs needed, with only 2 times proposed. Neither time worked for me. I gave alternate times that I could be available. I was working for both proposed times, and conveyed that statement to the crew leader. I was informed that he would get back to me at another time with further possible times. It wasnt until I had contacted another company about completing the work, and had informed FBP that I would expect them to refund the amount I would have to pay another provider that the crew leader came out to perform the repairs.5.) During the final walkthrough, multiple areas were pointed out, and Aaron did agree that repairs were needed. Other areas that were pointed out I was informed were not going to be fixed. More than three areas were pointed out, Aaron was only willing to fix three of them however. Per the quote, all walls were going to be repaired to like new condition, however that was obviously not the case.6.) There was a follow up call to ensure that the crew leader had contacted me, and to apologize again. No discussion about Aaron coming out to inspect the work again.7.) Aaron did inform me that they use PPG for their paints. I told him that we wanted Simplify Beige, Sherwin Williams #6085. That was the extent of the conversation. NO discussion about sheen ever. I have the email conversations to prove this. As for washable and durable, I don't agree with either of these comments either. If it was, I wouldn't be looking to get the exact same work performed again, less than one year later.8.) I did say that I wished I had the ceilings painted, as there is previous (and now current) paint colors on the ceiling. The trim was quoted, and based upon that quote it was determined to be almost cheaper to replace then to sand and repaint.9.) The client was not satisfied with all areas during the walk through. Based upon service providers comments about areas not to be fixed, the fact that sub contractors had been substituted, and all other issues outlined already, I was just ready to be done with them.10.) I appreciate the apology for the delay, but if provider is going to continue to use sub contractors, it is still their responsibility to ensure the work is completed in a timely and satisfactory manner.11.) I understand that provider has an overall satisfactory rating, which had bearing in my decision to hire them. I cannot comment on others experiences with them, just mine. My experience with them has been less than satisfactory, hence the reivew.
"First off Flora Brothers Painting #1 goal is customer satisfaction. We are sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied. We do offer a 1 year warranty on our interiors that was discussed at the time of the estimate. We have not been contacted by phone or e-mail in order to be notified of any issues. If notified, we would be more than happy to repair any areas that were repaired during the work that have not held up, that is why we offer the warranty. There are a lot of misleading comments made that we would like to address. The client discussed that it was 5 weeks before the work was completed from the initial agreement. Our schedule was discussed with the client at the time of the estimate. An exterior estimate on the deck was completed during the initial estimate & it was stated by Flora Brothers that it would be the following spring before any work could be completed due to how far the company was booked out (approx. 1 month) but we would be able to complete the interior because its not weather dependent. The client stated he was informed that the company owners would be completing the work. This was never discussed but rather assumed. The client mentioned the quote was acceptable but graded with a D. Our crew leader made multiple attempts to schedule a time convenient for the client, that were convenient for the estimate & walk-through, but were now not convenient. The client stated multiple areas were pointed out during the final walk-through. Two total areas were pointed out by the client & a 3rd was pointed out by a representative of the company & all areas work was performed were in the master bedroom, hallway, entry, kitchen & living room. The client stated no follow up was made to determine if the repairs were made & satisfactory. A follow up was in fact made by phone, along with another apology, to the client the day after the repairs were completed. During the phone call, the representative had asked if the client would like FBP to come out & inspect the work. The client declined. It was stated what paint (sheen) would be used was never discussed but the client had an understanding that we would be using PPG Paints. With that understanding, it was discussed what exact line we would be using along with what sheen the client would prefer. FBP does NOT make the final judgement call on color or sheen. The client mentioned flat was used. Again, this is inaccurate. A flat paint was NOT used but however a washable/durable ceramic matte finish one that has been personally tested by FBP & their paint reps for durability in FBP's shop. The client mentioned that FBP had recommended painting ceiling & trim due to an extensive amount of previous paint on the areas but the client declined. During the final walk-through, the client had mentioned wishing that they would have had FBP paint the ceiling/trim due to how much previous paint was on the areas & how noticeable it was. The client was very satisfied with all areas during the walk-through, never pointing out FBP had gotten paint on the ceiling/trim. The only areas of concern were two drywall areas in the living room. Flora Brothers Painting will take FULL responsibility for the delay in getting the touch up repairs completed. An e-mail was sent to the client 10/22 at 7:53am stating the frustration, of the company, that this had not been completed along with a sincere apology & that the client would be contacted immediately to schedule. This was embarrassing how long it did take for FBP to get the areas rectified. We again send our sincere apology! Please consider all our feedback when selecting a painter. We do have 55 positive reviews, along with multiple facebook, google & yelp reviews, to go along with 1 constructive review."
enough good things about them! Their crew showed up as scheduled and went right to work pressure washing, caulking,
and then painting. They worked hard the entire time they were here, and the entire project ended up taking a little less than two full days. Flora Brothers recommended using an exterior "satin-finish" paint instead of the "flat" we previously used when building the house ten years ago. Very happy with the satin finish and would highly recommend it for others. The owners and their crew members are very respectful and customer-oriented, they take extra care to protect your property from possible paint spills, and the overall quality of their work is definitely a step above. Anytime we need anything painted, we will definitely hire them again.
