Find a Newly Constructed Home (New, Planned Community)
I would not recommend Fischer Homes. House was not ready at closing and now they are building 2 story family homes in our section which was advertised as all ranch homes. Bad business practices in my opinion.

My wife and I feel very happy with the finished product. We closed an moved in approximately 1 year ago. There were some small errors in the process, but to be fair we are OCD and particular on things. We both strongly feel we are in our forever home where we hope to raise a family one day.

We had our realtor contact the sales manager to see if they would honor the original pricing, but he was told that they would not honor the originally quoted price.  Now I am dealing with trying to find another home in a short time period and a significant other that had her heart set on the house we had been sold by Fischer Homes.  This is not a good way to practice business and other future Home Buyers should beware of the things that this company is capable of doing when you are preparing to make such a large investment with them.

Horrendous experience. I could go into all the detail/issues I had -- concrete issues [garage and basement floors cracked on the day they were poured, this was acceptable to builder and now my basement walls and driveway have multiple cracks less than 2 years after completion], over 20 service calls on my HVAC system in 18 mos., breaker box installed outside of home and barely accessible [had to go to BBB to get it corrected], etc . . . but instead I can sum it up in one phrase "unfortunately some people confuse cost with quality." This is what Fischer Homes "building manager" told me during a warranty visit. This wasn't a salesperson, a sub-contractor, or a customer service rep, but the person in charge of building homes for Fischer in my area. And most of the people around me that I've spoken with have had the same experiences. My neighbor was advised by this same "building manager", after inquiring about their HVAC system not adaquetely cooling their bedroom, to sleep on their couch. Learn from my mistakes, I wish I would have known this before I agreed to build with Fischer.

I would first off like saying that I enjoyed working w/ the Fischer's sales team and selections team during the entire building process up to closing.  They were always very professional & courteous.  However, I now own & am living in probably the worst built home I've purchased.
There are far too many things to talk about, so the best way to sum it up is their contractors lack of attention to detail and crappy craftsmanship.  I have numerous crooked walls, cracks in drywall, tile, and baseboard/window trim.  Not to mention several electrical outlets that have pulled-out or are loose in the wall.  It was a job down as fast as they could and a lot of thrown together "put lipstick on a pig" work.
They are really hard to work with after closing.  I had a leak in the ceiling of one of the upstairs bathrooms and it was like pulling teeth to get them back out to look at it... and this was just after 3 months of living in the home & still under warranty.  When I called my supervisor the first thing out of his mouth was "you better call your insurance company to take care of this".  I couldn't believe it!  He hadn't even offered to come out and look at the problem before telling me it wasn't their fault or responsibility.  I insisted he come out and he finally agreed.  Once here as soon as he looked at it out of his mouth came a "oh".  Upon going up into the attic he discovered that one of the contractors had drilled a hole through a vent pipe and condensation was forming and dripping out onto the ceiling/drywall.  They fixed it but the repaint job looked like a 5yr old did it and we had to fix that ourselves.
The same is true for the follow-up fixes/repairs they do at your 1year anniversary.  They basically come in and just cosmetically fix everything... And it all looks great for about 3 weeks before the nail pops start popping again and the drywall starts cracking again, etc. etc. etc.
My house is only 2yrs old and looks like what I would expect a 15-20yr old house to look like inside & out.  My previous home I also built and lived there for 8yrs... the day we moved out it looked as good as the day we moved in... boy I miss that house!
I would never recommend Fischer Homes to anyone... I know it's always a crapshoot when building a house in my budget, but next time I would either go back to the builder who constructed my first home or at least try someone else and hope for a better experience.  It couldn't be much worse!

I can't say that one aspect of their process was remotely displeasing. We worked with a great sales person to find the perfect floor plan for our family. Then after looking at different options for the home we starting designing our home. I find the negative review below a little weird because we completely re-designed our master bath/closet area and they did help us develop the new plan that we love; and they did not charge us any extra to make the change! ( we did have to give them a "special pricing" deposit but it counted as deposit after we accepted the changes) Our designer at their design center was wonderful; she helped us with color choices on both exterior and interior items. She really made the process enjoyable for both my wife and I. She gave us great insight for our selections without pushing us one way or the other. Our Builder (Mark) was an absolute joy to work with. He was extremely nice and made the process of building a home fun and exciting for us! There were a few things during the build process that were off but Mark caught them before we saw them and made us aware that there were being taken care of. Problems seem to happen in everything but he always had the best solution in mind for us which was a real relief. Our sales person was also there through the process...which was nice since so much time was spent with him in the beginning stages. Most sales people never talk to you after the sale...not him! In my personal opinion you would be crazy not to consider Fischer Homes for your next home. They weren't the cheapest but you get what you pay for...

We purchased a Fischer home in the winter of 2012. From start to finish, everyone in the organization was professional and very helpful. We spent a lot of time in the Design Center, and the team was very patient with us. They offered some great suggestions but also helped us stay within our budget. The construction process was smooth, our home was managed well, and we were more than happy with the end result. We were able to move into our home on time, in August of 2012.
