There are far too many things to talk about, so the best way to sum it up is their contractors lack of attention to detail and crappy craftsmanship. I have numerous crooked walls, cracks in drywall, tile, and baseboard/window trim. Not to mention several electrical outlets that have pulled-out or are loose in the wall. It was a job down as fast as they could and a lot of thrown together "put lipstick on a pig" work.
They are really hard to work with after closing. I had a leak in the ceiling of one of the upstairs bathrooms and it was like pulling teeth to get them back out to look at it... and this was just after 3 months of living in the home & still under warranty. When I called my supervisor the first thing out of his mouth was "you better call your insurance company to take care of this". I couldn't believe it! He hadn't even offered to come out and look at the problem before telling me it wasn't their fault or responsibility. I insisted he come out and he finally agreed. Once here as soon as he looked at it out of his mouth came a "oh". Upon going up into the attic he discovered that one of the contractors had drilled a hole through a vent pipe and condensation was forming and dripping out onto the ceiling/drywall. They fixed it but the repaint job looked like a 5yr old did it and we had to fix that ourselves.
The same is true for the follow-up fixes/repairs they do at your 1year anniversary. They basically come in and just cosmetically fix everything... And it all looks great for about 3 weeks before the nail pops start popping again and the drywall starts cracking again, etc. etc. etc.
My house is only 2yrs old and looks like what I would expect a 15-20yr old house to look like inside & out. My previous home I also built and lived there for 8yrs... the day we moved out it looked as good as the day we moved in... boy I miss that house!
I would never recommend Fischer Homes to anyone... I know it's always a crapshoot when building a house in my budget, but next time I would either go back to the builder who constructed my first home or at least try someone else and hope for a better experience. It couldn't be much worse!
