They came in with a push mower to mow my lawn that hadn't been mowed this season. They told me the price was $250 and that didn't include raking, but that it would be cut and be ready for regular maintenance by others. They did a terrible job at such a high price. The grass doesn't even look properly cut, it looks like it was just pushed down. I used them based on their ad that said they were a new company and they love to help people. It appears to me that they are more for getting their money than they are for helping anybody. I would think that as a new company that when they give an estimate they would include raking since they are mowing an overgrown lawn. It just seems unprofessional.
Response from First Call Lawn & Haul LLC
"Hello, When you notified us about the yard you explained how you couldn't find anyone that would mow the yard. After that initial talk you said that you would continue to shop around and you would call us back if you couldn't find anyone after you continued to shop around. You ended up calling back a week later, and at that time we went to your property to inspect it. When we arrived you gave us specific instructions in which we respected because you were a potential customer. Those instructions were to call before we came so that your daughter would be there, and to not disturb her because of health issues. I believed she ended up having to come out because the gate had a padlock on it. As well as the padlock you said it was our obligation to get your gate locked back to how it was being that not only was the padlock on there but some sort of wire or hanger for extra protection. Once again we made all accommodations so that you would not have a unpleasant experience and at this time we were just inspecting the yard. When we viewed the yard we were notified of an electrical box connected to the pool so that we would not damage it. After inspecting the yard and a portion in the front and side we told you $275. This agreement did not include raking otherwise the price would have been more. With your grass being over 4 feet tall in most areas we explained that our 48 inch walk behind mower would fine mulch it, but it probably wouldn't look appealing until after a couple of cuts being that the grass was so high. Our mower malfunctioned on us about 75% into the job the first time we came to cut so we came back after a couple days. At that time we finished the other 25% and then we went back over the yard again. Keep in mind we didn't half do your yard or just did not come back after our equipment malfunctioned, we came back and completed the job and didn't ask for any partial payment or anything until once the job was complete, so it upsets us when you make it seem as if we were out to take advantage of you or get your money. We are sorry that your experience with our business was not up to your standards, but I promise you we did everything in our power to make sure that it was. If I am able I will upload pictures. Thanks!"
