Fall Creek Land Design

It went great. We tweaked the plans as needed.  Was very responsive, initially and throughout job.  Pricing was extremely fair, adjusted price after all the modifications.  Constantly went above and beyond in all facets of the work.  My husband and I  are extremely happy with the results.  Looking forward to spring to see everything in full bloom and use our new patio.  We will be utilizing Daryn's services when the weather warms up.  We are interesting in getting irrigation put in, as well as complete work on our front sidewalk.

We asked Daryn to create a plan to install a buffer with shade loving native plants across the back of our backyard. We wanted low maintenance, shade tolerant, perrenials. We have lost several trees on our wooded lot to the emerald ash borer and he suggested places to plant new trees. He spent quite a bit of time asking questions and getting a true understanding of what we wanted,and what we liked & didn't like. He had great ideas that we hadn't thought of such as lowering our deck to further enjoy the new view. He also added design ideas such as adding lighting and adding a patio area between the deck and our fire pit for an additional wow factor.
He drew up plans for different options, that could be scaled back to fit our budget for work to be done now, and then have a comprehensive plan as to what to add in the future if we wanted. He gave us different options as to whether we wanted to do all, some, or none of the work ourselves to fit our budget. We decided to have him do all of the landscaping work. He has a dual degree in landscaping and soil science from Purdue, so we have no doubt the plantings will do well in years to come.
Across the back property line, he prepared planting beds and installed different varieties of hostas, hydrangeas, spirea, lady ferns, jacob's ladder, bleeding hearts, astilbe, liriope, plum pudding coral bells, chokeberry, black snowflake foam flower, toad lilly, daylillies, Chadwick yews, Service Berry trees, and a Tulip tree. I can't wait to see everything as it blooms through next summer to fall season!   Cost $5,646

The deck lowering was done after the landscaping was complete. The railing was removed. Stairs were installed around the perimeter of the deck so that you can step down into  the yard and fire pit area. It really opened up the view and we are very pleased with the results. Because of the slope of the yard, Daryn ran into some technical difficulties with leveling the deck, but he did not charge us for the extra labor involved in consultation with his engineering associate. The deck is level, and had gravel installed underneath to protect the deck from weathering in the years to come. He did realize that he had forgotten to include some of the materials involved in grading the yard around the deck in the original estimate. But he was up front with that and charged a very reasonable price for the materials & did not add any additional labor charges. Cost $2,035

We are very pleased with the results! The price was very fair. We plan to have Daryn out next year to add additional landscaping as our budget allows.

The results are beautiful, and Daryn is a pleasure to work with.  I'm glad we had him do the complete design including the driveway and sidewalk - it all flows together very well.  We will definitely work with him next time we need help with our landscape.  He is prompt, conscientious and reliable.

Daryn Fair is the owner and he specializes in sustainable landscaping. The reason I called him in the first place was because he is good with plants that are native to Indiana. I paid $876 for the most recent job for an area of landscaping for lawn restoration. We found him to be very responsive, professional and flexible also when I wound up changing my mind on some stuff. He works very conscientiously to get things done.
